  • I have a special love for my 1983 Honda XL600R. Notoriously difficult, but good for those who take the time to understand her! Let me know what you think of this bike!

Did anyone notice that as soon as the kick start was coming up she did the toe kick to fold it backin. She has obviously started this bike many times. She was completely confident that it was going to start.

There's a 1985 XL600R w/2500 orig miles in a deep sleep in my shed...had it out a few years ago..I forget how potent that 600 was...

She’s an absolute beauty! My first motorcycle, my dad bought for me when I was 9 years old, was a 1976 Honda Elsinore MR50, and that’s where it all began. My older brother got the Elsinore 125, the dual sport version. There is nothing like a vintage Honda, especially the dirt oriented ones. I wish I still had every old Honda I ever owned. I would have my own little museum. Lol...

I had this bike from 1984 to 1986, loved it. Easy to start if you know how to do it. Very light and enough power. Often regretted selling her...

    I bought a '87 XLR-H when i was 20... and i still enjoy riding this bike 36 years and 120 000 km later 😊

Yup I had a 1983 XL600R. Miss Piggy was her name. You had to know how to start it. I still have a 1985 XL250R with dual carbs. I fired it up last weekend after sitting over the winter. 2 kicks. It ran great all weekend besides the hot soak when we took a rest. I ride kick starts. Main bike is a 2003 XR400R.

N/B If ever a bike needed an electric start this is it, you can fit the electric start from other XLs & XRs but it is a hassle, battery trays, new stater plates, coils, switch gear etc etc,

  • @theoriginalmungaman

Your starting procedure is not correct for most. Yours is unique, you probable have a larger pilot jet and a drilled out choke jet. Usually you have to cycle through 4 or five times and full choke!

This channel is going to blow up! A strong woman with lots of personality and a talent behind the camera and with bikes. Glad to be here with you at the start. I like old bikes, currently restoring a honda ns250f 2 stroke v twin from japan. Seeing this xl600 reminds me of the era. Keep up the good work ❤.

I owned that exact bike in 1983 (when i was 33) ! It is an impressive wheelie and stoppie bike. I remember sitting at a traffic light, when it turned green i would pull a wheelie in first gear, and then without dropping the front wheel, i would just row through all the gears until i was in 5th. So when i finally dropped the wheel it would screech and smoke just like a plane landing cause it was never spinning the whole time 😁. Excellent review, loved the flip flop starts, the highway acceleration and the c-o-n-f-i-d-e-n-c-e 👍

  • @misterdowney

Enjoyed the video, especially the decompression start, how that works. You showcased the bike well, my first few bikes were all Hondas, love the vintage ones too.

  • @Re-Booter

Thanks for showing us one the best vintage Honda dual sports, I have one just like it.....a 1983 XL600R with 6k miles on it. Bought it last year with 4200 miles.

  • @chadriddle3517

I dig your style and attitude! Cool review, something special about you starting and cruising this beast .

  • @majorlee1

Vintage Hondas are just cool . 😎

  • @rrandypt8933

Nice retro memory for me, thanks. Bought an '83 new and enjoyed it for a few years before going back to a dirt bike (XR350R). Wish I had kept it, but have chosen to have 1 bike at a time. Rode it to Calico ghost town and hit the sandy trails and camp before heading back to the OC many times

  • @rviana4

Another great one, Ananda! Waiting for the next. Wish you the best!

  • @ezed3902

I had an 1980 XL500. I would love to find one in such beautiful condition.

Great Bike! I´m currently traveling from Germany to Japan on mine. Never let me down so far and got me out of some pretty nasty situations. Always starts on the first kick if i ride her everyday. If I dont she gets a bit huffy :D
