- The factory seats in the Ford F250 were never that good, but after 20 years of use they had well and truly seen their best life. So I fitted a set of the Stratos suspension seats lets see how they worked out!

Matt, I have had a Stratos 3000LTSS suspension seat in my 80 series Landcruiser for 2 years and love it.. the best thing for my back ever. I had it fitted as a work compliance as I was driving every day in my vehicle and the original seat was not suitable. People can get these fitted for work if they get an assessment done. I would never use any other type after having this supplied and fitted.
Wow that’s an endorsement.
I had a stratos suspension seat in my 75 series troopy for a couple years now and absolutely love it, 1200 klm days no worries.
These seats look like a great upgrade! I'm sure the improved comfort will be worth it in the long run. Can't wait to hear your full review after more drives!
I’ve done a couple of two hour runs now and have a couple of 7 hour runs coming up so we’ll find out then. But so far I’m very happy
Thank you!!! Been looking for this
Glad I could help!
I’m up for a new set of seats in the 80. These look great and I’ll definitely check them out.
With the leg supports, is there enough room for the old fellas.
Keep up the great work Matt 👏👏👏
So far I’m finding these very comfy and I think they’d go well in an 80
Look the goods Matt ! 👍🏼😎 nice seening the F250 still going strong 💪🏼
Thanks mate. I tried to catch you at the Brisbane show but I did check out your rig.
I'm very interested in what you say when you do your next review of these seats. My back is bad, debilitating doesn't quite some it up, so I'm looking for good seats for my 89 Troopcarrier so I can continue this great hobby of seeing our beautiful country.
I’d say it’s worth checking them out at a show or one of their agents. They’re one of the few companies that make a slimline suspension seat so they’re a good option. They do have a wide range as well.
HAVE SEATS CHAT ABOUT IN MY ISUZU 2010 TRUCK 4X4
THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO
Thanks for the video. I got a 99 F-150 i wheel it alot in Colorado and utah. Looks like you used the factory base to mount the seat on ?
I need some new seats and just looking for options.
Stratos seats provided an adaptor to the factory mounts.
I have an LTSS3000 ready to go for my ‘22 250, but my 18mo has lost the bloody install instructions 😑
That new seat is so much better. Glad you're more comfy now Matt. Does the headrest go up a bit for whiplash protection?
Thanks. Yes it does
I’ve had a set of them for the past 10 years in my bundera. I think they are a comfy seat but the tilt on the seat always moves and I’m forever adjusting it back to the point where I locked out the suspension because it adjusts itself backwards and then rubs the back of the seat against what’s behind it and becomes really annoying when the seats move up and down while rubbing on thing that I can’t move.
That sounds like they need some love. The bunderas certainly need a seat like this.
Cool f truck matt
Thanks. I like it.
Interesting. I note the new seats are much smaller overall then the stock ones. I have a Suburban & have struggled to find large enough replacement seats as the originals are the size of a lounge chair & just as comfortable, but now worn out!
That’s interesting. These are very comfy seats but I wouldn’t call them arm chairs.
Matt, for our -20° days in the Northeast US, a seat heater is mandatory (even with sheepskin covers☺).
These can get the feature but not many places in Oz need them.
Great video as always. Any issue with the seat belt as it wasn’t designed for a suspension seat? I’m guessing the suspension travel is significantly less than in a truck with an air suspended seat therefore the seatbelt doesn’t become an issue.
Good question. The seat can only move 40mm max. So far the seat belt just self tensions with the ride. It never seems to go loose then tight.
they look super tight. do you actually fit into it? i havent tried sitting in these but did sit in some recaros and my back and ass didnt really fit into few of their seats, im not even that big, 6'2 and 100kg
I’ve done some 2.5hrs stints and they’ve been fine for me.
We've had a set of these in our Canter for years and they are great seats. Running a cabover off road without them is a pretty uncomfortable experience given you literally sit over the front axle. Hopefully they live up to your expectations too.
I would have loved a set back when I had the canter.
@@MadMatt4WD They're a great little truck.
@@contributor7219 you know I have one don’t you? Search my channel for Bundera.
@@MadMatt4WD I didn't realise you currently own one, no. I'll have a look and will be interested to see what you are doing with yours.
@@contributor7219 yeah it’s off the road atm getting restored. It’s a weapon Offroad. I can often keep up with twin locked patrols and such
Very good idea, there’s not a worse riding vehicle on this planet than an f250, especially that generation.
Yeah the leaf packs are leaf’s. Even though I have a good set in there.
@@MadMatt4WD That's good. I drove ten years for work and the only time it didn't ride like a covered wagon was when it had a snowplow on it and it had the turn radius of a WWII battleship. But it never ever quit, the only time I was without it was when some crackerbrain caught it on fire changing a coil pack. I mean I NEVER ever had to worry about it leaving me walking or cold or hot.
You’ve never ridden in my f600 then
@@servicetrucker5564 no I haven’t ride. In your f600. But I’ve also never got an invite to that sort of fun. I remember seeing one in Sydney years ago. And dang are they big.
@@MadMatt4WD If you’re ever in the US again drop by
I'd be interested to learn if these seats bottom out on heavy bumps such as ramp crossings and large pot holes. There is nothing worse than a suspension seat which bottoms out hard and allows the force to be exerted on the human body.
These don’t if they’re adjusted correctly. At least they haven’t got me and I’ve hit some big bumps. If they’re not adjusted right then they do bottom out.
@@MadMatt4WD I wish you well and comfortable travels.
Are they available in California?
Probably not. Sorry
@@MadMatt4WD thank you. Do you know if they will be available in the usa?
In some of my farm tractors there is a "fore and aft" as well as a "side to side" mechanism that really smooths out some rough fields.
To be the most comfortable in my 3/4 ton truck, I chose Chevrolet. 😉😉🤣🤣
That would be cool. Love the joke
Yeah but he needs to be able to get home predictably 😂
Hey Matt you got a rough price on the seat, can't find price anywhere on google
Recaro, Stratos Scheel-Mann,.........There all about the same Price.......$3,000 - $4,000 Each.
My Preference (If I could afford them) would be the Scheel-Mann, Vareo, The Lumber Support is Fully Variable (UP/Down In/Out) and Most Importantly, The SeatBase Length can also be adjusted...............((I'm 6'3", HeavySet) I found that the way most car seats are manufactured, the Bar (underneath the seat) that supports the springs puts unwanted pressure on my Prostate and Balls!
@@DMSVICAU cheers mate, pricey but worth it if there's bulk ks to be done
How big are your balls that the bar is hitting them? 😂😂
They may have different price points for all the seats so they don’t put the price up. I don’t know. But I can connect you to the right people if your keen to proceed.
@@MadMatt4WD thanks Matt, I'm on the Gold Coast seemed to have a lot of suppliers west/North of here
What is the name of this seat please
Stratos seats
Just for info - setting headrest you should aim to have the top inline with the top of your ears or a little higher.
My 90 has had Recaro from an Audi 80 sport, Rangie P38 'leccy leather arm chairs and now seats from a Vauxhall Calibra turbo 4x4 sports car. Only ever spent 20quid from the scrappy 😊
P38 Range Rover seats were the most comfortable but those new stratos ones you have look 👍
Thanks for the info on the headrest height. I’ve always wondered what’s a good way to set them.
@@MadMatt4WD it is what we taught here in the UK (I was an on-road instructor for 8 years while also an off road instructor which is way more 😊)
Imagine an accident and your head whiplashes back, you want the headrest to save your head and reduce the overextended neck. Too many people have them too low and risk significant damage to the top of the neck and lower skull. The lower skull is quite weak.
I had to present earnings to a lawyer for court, for one of my ex college friends. He had brain damage caused by a collision and non adjustable headrests like your f250 seats were a factor.
@@GavinEarnshaw I certainly understand there purpose I’d never heard of a procedure for adjustment though.
It seems crazy that Aussies need to be protected from themselves by requiring a fitter to install 4 bolts to mount the seat. If they are not sharp enough to do that perhaps operating an off road machine is also beyond their reach! 😂 (just a bit of fun here mate!)
I’d say it’s just what strados have to say and Intern Matt has to say it as well if he’s working with and promoting there brand
I hear you mate. We’re a bunch of sooks in many ways
What happens if you weigh in at 180 kg s they don’t make ‘em
As I say in the video I believe you can spec a higher weight seat.
Stop eating if you've hit 180 big fulla,
