  • Here's my recommendation for a great RC RTR Upgrade charger for Lipo, LiHV, Life, Nicd, Nimh, etc. batteries. The ProTek RC Prodigy 610ez is just that - Easy and Quick at 100watts to the single channel charger.

    Nice review, thanks. I have owned this charger for 2 months now, my son liked it so much he sold his and bought one. I especially like the ability to store 10 charge/discharge profiles and it does charge at a true 10amps, something many entry level chargers are incapable of. I use it to charge my LiHV racing batteries and works great! The charge leads are short though and only includes Dean's plug so, I had to go out and buy an extra charge cable. We will see about durability. Overall, very impressed 👍

    On the unbalanced lipo charge profile, there is no selection for more cells, because it sees it as just 1 big cell due to not having a balance lead on the battery. Not many folks have unbalanceable stuff,but for those who do it's good info,,or confusion reigns. I have some prototype batt stuff that does not have balance leads. Backup charger is a Revolectrix for double checking. The Protek keeps up and is just as accurate. Watch the Donjiu ac cord that's included. One side of the ac cord reads 250v 2.5 amp, the other side reads 125v 7 amp. If your on 110v,, make sure the 125v 7amp lettering is facing up.. the 250v should face up only if you are on that voltage. Run the cord out and make sure you are putting the plug into the strip outlet the right way., the same direction as the others on the strip or outlet. The Donjiu cord DOES NOT have 1 spade(ground) on the plug that is wider for US outlets.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 4 lety +3

      Storage either discharges or charges to a safe medium voltage of 3.85v per cell . Discharge will obviously discharge your battery to either cycle that battery (charge/discharge) or get it down quicker for storage.

      You'll need a charge lead like this: www.amainhobbies.com/trinity-2s-pro-charge-cables-w-5mm-bullet-connector-black-tritep2402/p868591
      That lead will plug directly into your battery and then into the charger, no other connectors needed. Keep in mind, the 610 is an entry level charger, where you're using race level batteries, they're not going to be directly compatible

      The RCNetwork Awesome. Thanks for the reply. Hopefully you can find something. I looked around and haven’t seen any kit that would fit into the budget category. There was a Baja style kit for around $150, but it jumped in price once all the parts were picked out. I’m new to this so I have no doubt that you could do it cheaper.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 4 lety +1

      I did an blog article response to that series on my website after they sold out. There's two options - look into HobbyKing - they had a couple of options, but you're up against issues with part availability. The other option would be to buy used, like a previous gen model - like a Team Associated B6 or B5 or the TLR 22 4.0 - those can be had as a roller for about $100 with quite a few upgrades and already dialed in. Just some thoughts

    Ok don't laugh but I got this to charge my receiver pack for my nitro Revo. Along with my EZ start battery pack. I am trying to figure out how to set this thing to charge those. Rec pack is Ni-MH 1100mAh 6v and the EZ start battery is a Ni-MH 2000Mah 7.2V. I know this is overkill but I plan on getting into more powerful Electric RC so I will need a good charger anyway. So if anyone could put it large Crayon for a total RC and Charging Newb I would be most appreciative.
