I got my Elite Gourmet rice cooker yesterday and suddenly had a craving for chilled rice pudding. Your instructions are clear and really simple to follow and so I'll give it a try this weekend since it'll be too hot to go outside. I also have Roger's book---he owned a Zojirushi high end model.
I tried your recipe this past weekend. I used instant brown rice. I must say the rice pudding turned out perfectly. I especially like the consistency. Not too watery or too thick. It was also much faster to make rice pudding in this way than I thought it'd be. Thanks for a good recipe.
EDITED TO UPDATE: I made a pot of rice for dinner, left half in the rice cooker and proceeded with the rest of this recipe. The only difference was that I used vanilla almond milk, and it came out AMAZING!!! Thank you!!! We never ate much rice when I was growing up and my mom only made "real" rice (read: not minute rice) on New Year with Swedish meatballs, and when she made rice pudding, One of the things I love about eating Chinese food is the steamed rice, but never got good at making it, not that I tried often. It wasn't until I married a Cuban man that I learned to master rice. He taught me to wash, and not just rinse it. In fact, if you look at Japanese kitchenware you can find special bowls designed just for rice washing, so you can scrub it, then you tilt the bowl and it has a colander type section so you can drain it. Anyway, it wasn't long before he bought us a large rice cooker because we started buying our rice (about every 9 months) in a 50lb bag at Sam's Club. I'm divorced now, but still an avid rice fan. If you want a real treat, put some cream of coconut in place of some of the water when you're cooking your rice for an amazing sweet rice that goes amazingly with barbecue.
Great job, I was just now wondering if I could make rice pudding in my rice cooker and voila...the teacher appears!!! :) Nutmeg and cinnamon...now you are talking.
I love rice and I love rice pudding! This is very similar to my cooked rice pudding on the stove. You have to try adding some lemon rind, I usually add 1 long strip for a cup of rice, then remove it at the end. The lemon will make the rice pudding taste amazing, very Portuguese, except I never add the egg yolk to my rice pudding either. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I am definitely going to use my rice cooker more now. You have unleashed the beast! :D
Btw, idk if you're still doing anything with CZcams, but I've used this video to room rice pudding for about 29 times and my family loves it. I love it only dirties 1 dish 🤣 thanks for making the video man!!
Just tried your method & proportions (using short grain "sweet" rice), 2% milk and substituting Splenda for sugar, and it came out perfect. Other videos use sophisticated rice cookers with a porridge setting, etc. Yours method works in the simplest cooker meant for white rice. I'm sure one could add butter, cream, beaten egg yolk, if one wants a richer result. But I don't fee it is necessary. I'm enjoying what I made right now, and it is still warm from the cooker...very good!
Even though I have lots of measuring cups and spoons, I measure many of my flavouring ingredients just like you do. Off to try this, but I might dig out our old rice cooker that may have had a slow cook porridge setting on it.
Thank-you! Great demonstration and explanation. Can you make another video where you allow us to see close-ups into the pot as you add ingredients and after the cooking process? Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Great Video thank you for sharing 💯💜💯💜💯💜💯💜💯💜 Rice pudding is my all time favorite. If you don’t want to make your own Kozy shack is in the refrigerator section of grocery stores and it’s the best store bought rice pudding 💯💜💯💜💯💜💯💜💯💜
I made with less milk, substituted honey for the sugar (using half the amount) and brown rice instead of white. I also didn't keep the lid on my rice cooker after it began to steam with the milk ingredients. Turned out pretty darn good! Only negative was I put in way too many raisins. Thanks for a really easy recipe!
Although I read about the all bread website I have had no luck finding it either. There are many recipes online for making bread in the rice cooker, but I haven't found the dedicated site mentioned. The best I can come up with is the ones listed in the blog Adventures in (Post) Gradland.
Could you please tell me what that is mud eggcould you please tell me the right name for it does it do is the rice pudding flavor I would like to know thank you to responding back I appreciate I am trying to make rice pudding for a very long time but I am terrible at it but I found your video on CZcams and I'm trying my best to follow your directions and see if it comes out if it comes out good I'm going to keep on making it but could you please tell me what the name of that item is after you put cinnamon I appreciate you very much thank you
Why does the inside cooking pot seem to rock around and not fit correctly into the base? My son wants a rice cooker but I am hesitant now after seeing the way yours rocks around.

10 yes later I’m using your video to make rice pudding. Thanks!!! It was so simple!!!
i still cant get over the concept of bagged milk
Tokei I lived in Morocco for years and milk comes in one pint bags.
When I worked for Denny's we got it in 5-gallon bags with an udder on it.
When I lived in the UK in the 70's we had this in 1-pint bags and a blue plastic jug! The memories....
Can't wait to try it with my rice cooker. Thanks for making this clip on a simple rice cooker. Mine is only warm and off as well. This is perfect!
Thank you for your upload and the Roger Ebert connection for his book. I just ordered it on Amazon.
Brilliant video! Will give this a try. Thank you.

Thanks to you I have finally made my favorite rice pudding yunmy
thank u !!!!
i discovered a gem, thank you
THANK YOU...
Excellent recipe. Could you link to the web page regarding cooking bread in the rice cooker?
You don't actually need to rinse the rice if the intent is Rice Pudding, you want the extra starch to help firm up the pudding's structure.
After you added the milk and stuff how long did it take to finish
what was the website you said about making bread in a rice cooker?
What is the website you use for baking bread in a rice cooker
The inner pot is removable for cleaning and it sits on a pressure sensitive base.
Although I read about the all bread website I have had no luck finding it either. There are many recipes online for making bread in the rice cooker, but I haven't found the dedicated site mentioned. The best I can come up with is the ones listed in the blog Adventures in (Post) Gradland.
Jeeperran4444e
Right so when do we start cooking the METH
WALTER WHITE
Lmao.... Poor guy..... I like his version of rice pudding though.... Hahahah I needed a good laugh
Why are you morons??
And of course it goes without saying that the Chinese did not eat rice before the invention of the rice cooker.
How long does it take to make the rice pudding atlfter the rice is made? With 4 cups of milk in it, I think it would take a long time.
i didnt have nutmeg just cinnamon. it was still delicious!!
I know this video is old but does it have to be dairy milk, will something like soy milk work?
I used 1%, but heavier, like half-and-half, gives you a creamier dish.
who said the TWO at 05:05 ??

Nutmeg. An essential flavour for rice pudding
That’s was well complicated lol why not add the milk and sugar first?
I'm doing this recipe right now...let you know MY outcome...lol
Why did you not come back?
Why does the inside cooking pot seem to rock around and not fit correctly into the base? My son wants a rice cooker but I am hesitant now after seeing the way yours rocks around.
smassey85 it rocks around because its removable
So many haters. They don't have a rice cooker.
Long winded recipe... recipe at 3/4 length of video ...
Trolls too much.
MILK IN BAGS
Sorry this dude talks a little too much for my liking.
Crap. I just woke the whole household with that useless intro.
Why are you talking to much
