    I eat a high fat meal containing grass-fed grass-finished lamb, or a pound of Organic no-sugar bacon, and some sea salt no later than 4 hours before bed. Sometimes, if I wake up, I will take a little bit of benfotiamine with sulbutiamine, and I'm right back out! 🛏 Thank you, and have a great week, Rebekah!

    I wish I could say these tips helped me. Insomnia kicked in at the 4-week mark. Adjusted my electrolytes, especially magnesium, added B1, Omega 3, Potassium, Calcium, salt, Heart & Soil Sleep stack and eventually melatonin etc. etc. Tried the fat trick before bed... nope. Added in some lower toxin fruit and veggies for carbs.... nope! I am now entering into week 8 of insomnia with no end in sight. Morning sunlight, going to bed at the same time, cooler/dark room, turn off wifi, no phones in bedroom, epsom salt baths, etc. etc. etc. I am doing all the 'right' things. It may be coincidental that my body decided to tank my hormones (?) but I feel that carnivore sped up the transition. (I am a 46 year old female) Finally going to a doctor next week. Cortisol seems all over the place, fasting glucose is the highest it's ever been .. between 99-114 when before it was in the high 70's low 80's. My Ha1C shot up from 5.0 to 5.8 in 5 weeks (4 weeks carnivore, 1 week adding small amount of carbs). What sucks is that I desperately need sleep to help calm my stress and inflammation but my body just refuses to stay asleep after 1 or 2 sleep cycles which perpetuates the cycle. I NEVER had this issue before even when my kids were babies and I was nursing several times a night. I was not overweight at all before starting and worked out 4-5 days a week. I'm still not overweight but put on about 5-6 'stress' lbs and I have to muster the small amount of energy I have to do some light resistance training several days a week (for mental health). I make it a point to walk EVERY day especially after a bigger meal. I only had some inflammation with eczema and IBS symptoms (that were a result of food intolerances), sweet cravings and some signs of a slower thyroid. That is all I wanted to heal. I feel like I severely messed up my body. I can't even get back to the place I was before carnivore. I would take that any day over this.... I so badly wanted carnivore to work. There were some benefits during the time I was... much lower joint pain which I didn't realize I had, less urgency to pee, started to see body composition changes like getting a waist (I never had a waist. I was always an athletic build), and most of all, cravings GONE! I no longer thought about food all day. I guess this long comment is to help those that think they are doing something wrong and they just need to stick it out. Carnivore may just not be for you.

      @@SketchedbySte Staying strict carnivore, no. I had to go the "animal based" route and I eat meat with fruit, occasional lower toxic veggies and honey. As soon as I go strict carnivore, my sleep stops again. I tried everything. I had eventually accepted that carnivore did not work the same for me as it does for so many others. I actually grieved a little.

    • @kristenmayo1289
      @kristenmayo1289 Před měsícem +1

      @@SketchedbySte No. There are days that I IF (16 hrs-ish) just because I am not hungry sometimes when I would normally eat breakfast but it's not a regular thing nor do I track it. I no longer stress about ketosis. My main motivation is to reduce inflammation, feel good in my body, put my eczema into remission and manage perimenopause as best I can without making my husband and kids want to run for the hills (this one is the MOST CHALLENGING!). I realized all the extra stress about all of it was not doing me any favors. I just had to set it down for a while and even stop watching CZcams videos just to give myself a break. Good luck and patience to you. 💜

    Hey there. I think you may have saved my life!
    Found your channel yesterday evening. Watched this video last. I started carnivore -- including plenty of fat -- earlier this week. Haven't slept much since. But had been having problems sleeping even before that, so I wasn't surprised. (Also developed that issue when on a low carb diet years ago. So I knew.) Had been doing the bit-of-butter-before-bed thing all week with no success. You inspired me to quit being so shy with the butter. I didn't take it to bed with me. I'm 60 and have to get up several times a night anyway. But every time I did last night I took some butter. Had a bit of butter when I went to bed. I could FEEL my body saying NO! to sleep. Yeah -- cortisol or adrenaline or something. Got up 3 times in the course of 2 - 3 hours. Each time my body felt less resistant. I could feel the difference. After the 3rd trip when I got back in bed I could tell I was finally going to sleep. And I did. I slept for 5-6 hours.
    BTW -- I love your "God is healer - food is medicine" and I couldn't agree more. New subscriber. I'm dealing with multiple health issues and I'm realizing that learning to listen to my body is going to be the key. It tried to tell me to go on a high fat, carnivore diet 15 years ago and I wouldn't listen. That mistake has come at a price. I'm ready to listen.

  • @amel-jg5ui

    What helps me is eating enough food. If I go too low in protein or fat, I will not sleep. I need at least 135g of both protein and fat to get enough sleep. Sometimes more if I workout that day. It took me a while to figure out those numbers for my body. I also take magnesium glycinate before bed. Another thing that helps is putting a red light filter on my phone at night so that I don’t get the blue light coming in. That was a game changer for me.

      Nightmares are actually very healthy. We would go insane without dreams including nightmares.( This doesn't necessarily mean all nightmares are good. I believe that some can be demonic). That's how we process. If they are on going to no end, I would consider therapy or counselling to confront unresolved issues.
