- I'm joined by Fred Schmidt, spirit of Kurnothi and top performing Sylvaneth player to talk about the new Evergreen Hunt from the Dawnbringers armies of renow, Belthanos, First Thorn Of Kurnoth, their current standing with Generals Handbook 2023 as well as show off a few lists.

As a beginner, these sort of in-depth discussions are irreplaceable! great stuff.
Super cool breakdown, really appreciated! A little note: 5+ ward on belthanos does not only grant 4-5 more wounds, but 7 more wounds (50% effective increase in wounds). On average, he needs to suffer 21 wounds to die (1/3 being shrugged off by ward save).

Appreciated Andy. See how you go with the Kurnoth Hunters. You might find them too slow without strike and fade but it’s definitely a fun and different style
As someone who hasn't played since AOS 2.0, but has kept collecting models, Belthanos made me super psyched to return, and this is such a great refresher on the army for what's currently being played & a great insight. Absolutely invaluable, and you both are wonderful to listen to, the excitement and passion really comes through. Sylvaneth seems like it's in a really unique spot as an army right now, very excited to try out our new hero. Thank you both for the excellent discussion!

Kurnoths with Scythes, with 3 chords and an Arch Rev command take down a Sons unit using All Out Defense in one go, on average. Its hilarious
That 3-5 sweet spot really turns scythe up to 11. Just gotta get them up the board
I have to chime in on the Sylvaneth wish. I want a forest dragon spite. 😢 Make it buggy and put a wizard on it.

Can we use the evergreen hunt on every battleplan or only for new battle plans?
Evergreen Hunt is an alternate build to Sylvaneth that you can play in any matched play environment.
Does Belthanos Nature Aetheric affect faction terrain?
Probably needs to be clarified as faction terrain is a terrain feature as well as a faction terrain feature. The way I read it, it does let you choose it but I’m sure it will be addressed in an errata soon

the army rule is good and fun, but the grand strategy/battle tactics/relic/command trait is pretty bad sadly
Lack of seasons of war means this isn't an army you'd play in a Path to Glory campaign. Kinda disappointing in that sense. In a normal match I like it.
It’s definitely matched play but I know you’re being cheeky.
I think the limited list alone makes it kind of like that, but if the PtG campaign is with friends instead of organized, there will be some semblance of room to accommodate the seasons based quests and stuff with Evergreen.
I would say in a PtG campaign, you would probably want to at least open the army up to allow Durthu & Gossamids- the other 2 Free Spirits units (Durthu especially, looking at the lore from the 2019 battletome). Possibly even the Noble Spirits (Tree & Warsong Revenants).
Could base it off quests to gain access to them
People are already trying to cheat with him saying alreial can summon him since has the kurthos keyword
I’ve avoided that because I think it will be errated quickly
