Thank you and enjoy - Jak na to + styl
Beautifully explained and demonstrated sheer scrape, Tomislav. You understood every challenge I explained that I face in turning. I didn't realize tilting the edge prevented the self feeding. I will try it first thing tomorrow morning. Thank you very much for addressing my concern. I'll go watch the rest of your video now. 😊
Glad to hear that Jay and hopefully you had a good morning trying this☺️
It is a pleasure to watch your videos. You are a great teacher. Thank you.
Thank you very much
not too bad…. aha.. not too bad??? you are a maniac.. genious for me! Thanks for the lessin!
😂 Thank you very much 😀
Tomislov…. Your skills at the lathe are so impressive! Your description of what, how and why you are doing things is so easy to understand. Now if I can just put all the knowledge you have shared into my turning 🤠🇨🇱
Thank you Randy, really appriciate that sir 😉
Tomislav, I have not heard you brag. OK, I'll do it. You and the best teacher of turning on the web. I don't think that will bring you fame and fortune, but I hope it does because you deserve it. Great video. Love the 4 - way series.
Thank you John for such a kind words, I still have a lot to improve on how to pass on what I know but I'll get there.
Thank you for watching and support what we do ☺️
I really like watching you. If I see it enough times, it may become habit. This is an incredible video. It is the best demonstration of how to turn a bowl. Thank you.
Thank you very much 😀
Oh my goodness. That's a seriously thin bowl!! In my opinion you definitely won this challenge, even high i know it's not a competition. I have never seen wood wobble like that before, incredible. I think the thinnest I've managed is about 3mm and that was only because i had a catch when scraping the inside and had to turn away the evidence of the catch. My heart was in my mouth for that one.
Thank you Nick, really appriciate that ☺️
I do so enjoy watching you and the others on these 4 way projects. I have done things bowls and had fun seeing what shape they finish at but you take things past what I have been brave enough to do. I think I need to get myself a good scraper. Thanks for sharing
Thank you sir 😀
A marvelous show of tool handling and skill. Hope the bowl saving problems get resolved soon. I do like to see how the four of you do things just a little differently. It was a lovely bowl and though it made for a fine demonstration model, the whole thing would have graced any room. Thanks for another fine video.
Thank you Joris
Very well done but not very practical. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂 Another great four way challenge. You four guys always do something interesting. Yours this month is no exception. Entertaining, educational, enjoyable.
Thank you sir
I so enjoy these 4 way videos. Thank you for keeping these going. I keep learning something from all of you.
Dang I was so tensed up I begin to hurt before I realized I’m not turning it amazing I watch you all time and learn a lot
Thank you Jim, hopefully you are ok now, video is over😅 thank you soo much for watching and support what we do
Great Video, I have done this for a contest... sawing it in half was so sad! I made wall sconces out of the two halves... Really appreciate you and all you do for us Tomislav! Thank you so much!
Thank You for watching and support what we do ☺️
Masterpiece! I’d NEVER cut something like that in two! Awesome job, I always enjoy your work and informative demos and description! Please keep it up… thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much 🤗
That's very impressive. I found myself holding my breath when you were doing the final cutting. I am definitely going to try this on a smaller blank.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Thank you Brendan 😉
Great job! I do not remember ever seeing spalted ash before.
I haven't either up until this really big log I found on mulch yard.... Already gone through fungi and rot... But the rest is this interesting color and pattern
Real nice work. So good of you taking so much time to address questions.
Thanks Tomislav! Love these 4 ways videos!
Thank you
O h my goodness how thin is this wow wobbly wood it's amazing
Wood is so amazing! Cut it, turn it, shape it and it stays together. That is crazy thin. Being somewhat green gives it flexibility.
Great job Tomislav. I admire your work!
Thank you sir 😀
Richard's method with a light behind it looks better to me. Respect is due for all of you regardless.😎
Yes, with light is easier but I got used to work by feel, sound over the years
You are truly a master of this job. When I watched your videos, I realized how inexperienced my videos were.
Thank you sir very much, 🤗
You can make a shim for the post, just whatever extra space is left in the banjo, fill with a pipe, and then cut a slot in the pipe and your set.
I could, yes but my McNaughton is already old one and beat up so I'll get something new, and in time I'll get brand new McNaughton but with 30mm post.... thanks for suggestion and watching 😀
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning this video is what del Stubbs invented sheer scraping for, it's easy to 1 hand the tool for interiors and steady the bowls outside, I've gotten a .25mm wall before this way. It was neat to see how you turned the bottom on this.
My mcnghouton is used I've had to bend all the shanks back into shape to get them to cut, if they are tipped down they just grab.
It's strange all the videos you've posted lately are things I recently tried, like your burnisher in the lathe.
Today I made a 4th successful under 2mm walled hollow form
Great video though really finessed this one man
Tomislav, I have felt for sometime as I enjoy your videos that you are the man, now I know you are the man. Superb demonstration of your skills.
Thank you sir, appriciate that ☺️
Very impressive Tomislav! After seeing the 2 halves I'm not sure that you could tell it wasn't all perfect without cutting it. Great job and very informative tutorial! Thanks for sharing.
Take care, Dave
Thank you Dave very much
Great bowl. I was hoping the whole time you wouldn’t cut it in half. But you did and I do understand why. Great turning.
Thank you Doug, sometimes we learn a lot like I have in this case by cutting it in half....🤗
Dear Tomislav, a great demonstration of your skills. Thanks
Thank you sir
Great video. Thank you for sharing!
Maestro thank you.
Thank You sir for watching 🤗
Thanks
THANK YOU!
I always look forward to the first of the month 😁
That was a cracker Tomi, pure amazing lad 😁
Thank you mate, really appriciate that ☺️
Great lesson Tomislav.
I like the idea of ending on the outside. I've done that myself. Never on a 2 mm bowl. I don't have the nerve to try it.
Wonderful and informative demo. Thanks for sharing. QUESTION: Do you have video demonstrating and explaining how you get a finish cut with scrapers? Thank you.
Thank you sir, I have several videos in the past few months on tools finish and how to get best possible surface using scrapers....
Just swipe through the video list😉
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Very well explained. Thank you.
Very enjoyable to watch you do this. Appreciate the detail you provide as you turn and explanations. Yours is the first of the four I've watched, now off to watch the other 3
Thank you Mark, ☺️
Simply incredible!! I must try! I’m glad to see that you were able to do more thinning after reversing it, because in my mind I felt that would be more comfortable controlling a shear scrape on the exterior vs the bowl gouge inside, at my skill level. Beautiful work and even better tutorial on a great subject! Thanks again for another classic video!!
Thank you Scott, really appriciate your words of support 🤗
Of all the pieces of wood to use!
Why?
I needed two shelf for the shop, and this is what I have the most 👍
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Its too pretty for a bowl bound to be cut in half!
Wow, you amaze me. I hope to be this good someday. I am learning alot from you
Thank you very much, I still have a lot of to learn and turning is in most cases just practice....
Brilliant video Tomislav .l had my heart in my mouth every time you made the bowl thinner ,I thought to myself any time now it’s all going to go pear shaped .But you do know what you’re doing and I don’t lol. Keep the videos coming please ,there so good to watch and I have learnt a lot from looking at them .take care
Thank you very much, really appriciate your kind words 🤗
Awesome Tomi! you are a legend - coupled with excellent explanation of your process, I have learned so much from you - Diolch yr Fawr.
Thank you very much 🤗
Wow that was a really great instructional video tommi. Nice thin bowl, I was wondering what you were going to do with the 2 halves and now understand why you didn’t have a conventional foot on bowl.
Really different approach from Richard , it worked so well for you too.
Why didn’t you move your tool rest inside the bowl to assist in getting to the bottom more easily?
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Greg☺️
Tool rest position is ok ,but the bevel I have on my gouges usually hit the rim on this deep slighty closed form....
awesome but so scary !! brilliant
Thank you 🤗
Wow that is fantastic ❤
Thank you 😀
Awesome video! Explains alot, I've tried a thin bowl recently but didn't leave mass in the lower portions and got alot of chatter marks. This gave me alot to think about for the next one.
Glad to help out ☺️ thank you for watching
Wonderful..i know that the 4 way project is not a competition but I think sam and Mike chickened out and we know that Richard knows his stuff (but you won this round😂) sometimes I turn thin and then sandblast a cool texture.
Sandblasting is something I'll do I hope in this year, just need to fix the fixture for it (gun).... Thank you for watching
Great at making a very thin bowl. It looked like you had a round bottom. The other guys made a usable bowl. Of course Sam cut his in half like you did. Congratulations on the thin bowl.
Thank you very much, round bottom bowls are sometimes even more usable due if done properly they are hard to tip over... I'll do a video on this as well...
Thank you for watching 🤗
That is so amazing! what skills you have!
Thank you Rachel, its just practice ☺️
and great technique@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning
🕶thanks Tomislav
Amazing.
Awesome video! Well done! 😎
Masterful.
Thank you 😉
NOOOOO!! Please don't cut it!!! Great instructional and educational video, as always, Tomi; thank you.
Thank you very much, Already cut it so I can see where I need to improve, sometimes is nessesary to cut it to learn ☺️
Very enjoyable to watch I was nervous hoping it would not break😔
Thank you, still there was a room to make it a bit thinner, but that's for another video 🤗
wonderful job!
Wow God bless
Incredible talent, it kills me to see you cut the bowl in two.
Thank you, well I did learn a lot where I can improve of thin stuff like this,so sometimes its nessesary to cut it but again its not lost, these will be shop containers on the wall☺️
That outstanding!
Thinner Tomaslav? Are you trying for invisibility?? C'mon! Just awesome work.😮
😂😂 thats for another video, invisible bowl😎 Thank you soo much for watching
Wow!
Thomaslav are you a poker player ? You like to take chances 😂 brilliant video
Thank you sir, very bad at poker , or any card game😂
Svako dobro zelim 🤗
Would have been nice to finish the bowl and revisit in a couple of months. I can see I need to learn to sharpen a whole lot better
Impressive! Just practicing turning thin pieces myself👌 only downside with your very thin turning, is, what’s the point?
Thank you, well I normally don't go this thin , but there would be applications for this, you can use thin bowl, or lamp shade or if you have to bent the wood to your shape like wooden hats
Looks like i have a new experiment to try.
Seem to be similar can you explain the differences? Thank you
Sorry , seem to be similar to what?
Didn't quite understand the question😀
what is this wood ? amazing work
Its ash😀 thank you very much
Omg this is realy thin. Why you don't use light, that you see tickness
Thanks buddy, light is great but I don't have a tourch that would work and lazy to buy one 😅 but I might have to buy one for the videos😀
What is the moisture content of the blank? I don’t see water misting, but the shavings look rather wet. You are an EXCELLENT teacher and a crack turner…really enjoy it!
You answered! 30 percent. Thanks.
Its roughly 20% , I might say lt wrong in video , I think I said 20😅
Its pass the point where it will move a lot or sprey water...
Замечательная работа! Очень трудная и кропотливая! Однако, ещё сложнее сделать чашу с натуральным краем с корой.
Nope, at least not in my mind, apart from some stuff to look out for, turning live edge bowl is like any other
Thank you for watching 🤗
Waw, I know that if I tried to get that thin, I'd break it.
You might be surprised 🤗 thank you very much
Bravo!
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Thanks so much my brother 😉👍👍👍
Eins verstehe ich nicht: Warum dreht Tom diese wunderschöne dünne Schale ohne Licht?
I was just used to do it by feel and sound
Ok I will try again sorry about that … fat fingers!!
What is the difference between a push cut and a shear cut ? You and Richard both use those term but they look similar to us earthlings!! 😂😂
No worries, I do the same 😅
Pretty much the same stuff, different name.... Shear cut is the name beacuse of the shear angle of approch when you position gouge to do finish cut.... Push cut its sort of the way you manipulate the tool, you can also use pull cut or draw cut... Different names for different cuts
How do you get your scrapers so sharp?
There are several videos in last few months on how I put burr or hook on my scrapers
Thank you! I love your videos especially the. Ones that are called Four ways When four of you make a similar article but used different methods.
Fantastic but you a little mad😊
Thank you 😅
