Tom, I like to watch your work without sound. That lets me focus on your expert tool handling. You have the hands of a surgeon. Nice work.

Elm makes such a beautiful piece. I love your relaxed approach to sharing your skill as you teach. A true gift.

I love your techniques for turning. Can you show us how you grind your gouges.

Beautiful bowl! Your advice about needing to be flexible and adapt your practices for the type of wood you’re turning is absolutely correct. In my desire for consistency, I often want to do everything the same but that doesn’t always work.

Elm is really a very pretty wood. I had the opportunity to use some elm from my parents' farm for a lidded box; it was a spindle turning, but the crotch wood gave it a very cross-grain look. Really enjoy your turning style and narration; I always learn something from watching your videos.

It's interesting how a "green blank" deforms as it dries ~ nice bowl

Another beautiful bowl and a great lesson in doing a second turning and adapting to various challenges with different wood types. Thank you for sharing.

I'm in the process of moving, so my shop is in pieces halfway between here and there. I am really anxious to spin some cellulose again! I really like the way you solve problems and explain it as you go. Thanks!

Elm can be so nice and big, but it has quirks like that tool dulling. You handled it very well. I thought you might bring out a card scraper.
    Very nice piece, Tomislav!

Another lovely project and teaching demonstration. Thank you. You are lucky to still have mature elm trees. They are all gone here in USA - Ohio.

Nice bowl, elm looks good, I like the rim detail. Those items you call pliers are called side cutters for what it's worth.
You don't show yourself making bigger bowls much. Are smaller bowls more your business?

Thanks Chris for that, didn't know on English proper name😀
I do make them quite a bit, I just don't film it, however smaller bowls are more desireble, these kind of size isn't for everyone here and the price is higher which can put customers off....
I believe that in United States bigger bowls are more desireble, where in Europe smaller ones ....

I think the states in general have bigger houses with bigger rooms and thus bigger tables but I still think 14" will be a big salad bowl. I think anyone could buy a key chain bowl and some 5 to 6" individual snack bowels, maybe 8" x 4" crisp bowl to share. I don't think the huge pop corn bowels they have in the states would work in the uk though a friend of mine has asked for a dough proving (letting the dough rise) bowl. She gave me quite a lot of apple from her tree that blew down circa 16 to 20" diameter. I hear it splits when drying. Should I go once turn green and let it warp or will it twice turn? Is the risk with it at plank/round blank or as big logs.
Hadn't turned anything for 5 to 6 months until today as have been renovating a house so want to get on with a few things now.
Is there no market for vases for you locally?

Hello Tomislav. I’ve been learning from your videos for a month now.. I’m making 12-inch plates. They cost 15 euros here. How much do your plates cost? Thanks again for the lessons.

When you make this cut at 23:54, is the bevel on the wood?
