A Base map, as the name suggests is a base to start working from in order to get your engine up and running as quickly and easily as possible. A Base Map has as much information entered as possible, leaving only the settings unique to your setup left to add in. In this video we show you how to load one, what's included and where to find them in the Haltech ESP software.

I looked at your Base Map list.... Under Ford, all I saw was 4L Barras.
I know a great Engine, but I'm in the U.S. and work on older, less mainstream stuff...
Do you have Base Maps for 4.6L 2V V8, 96-04?
Or 3.8-4.2L V6, 96-06?
finally !! a short but GREAT basic tunning video !! we need more !! specially idle tuning, if u have a slow car (for any reason) or u have problem making HP or TQ but u have a nice idle ull have nice costumer.

Why did I sense a bit of sarcasm when he said LS is everyone’s favorite engine? It’s ok I get it. But eventually you will have to accept the universal truth that the LS V8 is the greatest performance engine ever created. I hear the GM engineers that designed were not really the guys who created it, but merely channels for God himself to bestow onto mankind this wonder of the universe. I want a Haltech ecu controlling gods creation in my project.

As someone who only has access to a 50cc two stroke scooter, but dreams about a pimped out RX-7 it is SO cool that I can fiddle around with this stuff even though I don't have the actual ECU. Thanks guys! :D

Haltech is the shit. Later this year I'm building a 1979 Camaro with an LS. Definitely using Haltech for engine management.
Thanks Scott great vid as always I'm slowly working my way toward downloading tuneecu which was used to tune my bike just so I can check fault logs & save a copy of the map should I need it, I'm not good with tech of any sort I'm a bit intimidated by it & don't know of a tuner in my area who uses this software. Question I'm about to do an engine swap on my bike same engine just less km's same set up, are there any issues with just plugging the original harness & ecu into the fresher motor.

I’d like to see the tuning process from start to finish just to get an understanding of what order I should be tuning my ECU, and also what’s absolutely essential to configure and what’s not a necessity (redundant sensors). The videos are great and informative but they’re a little too scattered and not so involved.

Did you speed up the open map process? My desktop PC doesn't load maps that quick with a NVMe SSD and i7-6700K

Set the VE map to 70% and ignition map to 20° BTDC. Pretty much anything will fire if you've got the injectors and triggering configured correctly ;)

Hey, is there a way I can download my stock tune directly from my car? It's a 97 GM brand you don't have. And also an oddball I should add. Saturn SC1.
How much extra time will it take the tuner if you don't have a base map?

HALTECH needs to do a proper video on cold start and how to set it up and demonstrate it in all different conditions and how it works to get the car started and idle as to anyone desire. I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR 4 MONTHS! on this bmw turbo conversion to get it started and running as I like, 1st start after three weeks ran perfect with leaking intake gasket just idle very high, 2nd start after head gasket change wrong gasket i may add and intake gasket custom made and fix, after just had looong cranks had loads of very violent back fires before it ran then dies, 3rd start ran after extreme long crank then dies as throttle been applies, now wont start tries to now getting clear flood and fuel limitations and also the odd violent back fire, tps loosing calibration some times donno how voltages within ranges! am about to give up i think they just way over engineered the elite 2500 sometimes things are best kept simple till what needs to be added can be added like hondadata. fuel is there spark and compression, using 335i igniters as they are plug and play, chineese rods, 4g63 85mm weisco pistons 1 mm block over bore to fit, 340lph fuel pump with check valve, knock off areomotive fpr, wbc2 controller, elite2500, 875cc injectors, mack boost controller, aem meth kit, 38mm wastegate, 50mm bov, turbo is a borg warner like gtx55 off a man truck, using BMw x5 throttle body works100%, had 4g63 intake custom to fit. was just about to do the rear diff conversion in the e46 to e60 m5 axles and propshaft and was also going to put some darton performance sleeves in block with some s54 valve springs to up the revs to 10k. its a one off custom project I decided to do in my weekends when not working. Engine n42b20 (valvertronic but disabled) this thing is pissing me off need some drastic help. the elite 2500 is a brilliant ecu with its functions but can be very confusing to operate when starting to get running, lot of the features is excellent just a shame tourque management feature are not full 100 like the 2500T ecu, base maps that are preset works fine just may only have to lower and increase rpm to suit application, adjust drigger settings and fuel and ignition. it is one smart piece of gadget am well pleased with my 2500 just a bit hard to navigate at times for the haltech is a new learning curve for me but like it 100% all the way done think I will go other brands except aem. it is shame bmw can communication is not present in 2500 and could be preset to work with factory clusters

Scott what System would you suggest for a toyota beams single vvti with nos but still full sequential. i want to turbo at a later stage but for now i need something that can retard the timing for me without going into the maps when i hit the NOS. Or is it not possible for a ECU to do that for you?

That's not a question we can answer, unfortunately. You'd need to ask the dealer.

We'd say yes but then we're kinda biased....
In all seriousness it's best to talk to your tuner and find out what system he's most experienced with.

I'm in a bind, I need an ecu for my 3rz-fe Hilux surf, I was looking into going standalone just to get the engine to run, I can currently find no right ECU to buy, so a stand alone is looking like an good option, any ideas if the haltech will run my na 3rz-fe?
Elite 750, 1500 or 2500, depending on what you're planning to do with the car. Gabe from SNP Speed Innovations does a lot of work with the 3RZ and Haltech ECUs:

@@gtschallenges9733 You dont NEED a base map, its a luxury. Any EFI tuner who knows what they are doing knows how to get your car going.
Hello! I downloaded haltech esp, then tried to open honda 185kw map and had a problem: the programm asked about elite 1500 2.35 definitions, and i dont have them...
Register for an ESP account and the software downloads it for you.

the only thing i dont like is the base maps for s13 with ca18det are for the elite 1000 or 1500, their is no base map for a 750 so i had to start from scratch :(

Hi Scott. Fucking love your channel, and your content. BUT where is the BMW folder? I know they arent that popular in Aus, but still. Im from Denmark and the best ECU i can get with easily available support is an Elite 2500. Its still one of the most expensive ones, especially when you consider all the crap you need besides the ECU. But still cheaper than a Syvecs, which pretty much has 0 forum support like yours.
Can't open base maps without password. It figures...

A lot of people want to use it but to expensive ,if you guys make like a cheaper version people may start to get them more , no hate I know is an amazing product but many of companies just make things for the people that really have money to spend, but people that work haard and have sport cars and want to upgrade isn’t possible cuz most of the money they make is just to pay bills
