They say data is king and whoever "they" may be, they're not wrong. Being able to log, playback and then examine the data from your ECU makes fine-tuning your car so much easier!
You can easily spot problems, anomalies or areas that may need improving, you can compare the before and after logs to see how the changes you've made affect the performance of your engine - and that's just scratching the surface! in this video our resident tuning guru shows you the basics of data logging and sets you off on your own data logging journey. Enjoy!

Haltech How do you choose the channel sample rate when logging to PC?
Thanks guys for all the info! By the way, link for log files may not be working, at least for me.
Absolutely love how intuitive the Haltech system is. Never having any experience with the software, it looks like I know how to navigate it without a huge headache. Can't say that for much else!
It is super easy, although I do wish they had more details explanations of every feature and exactly how it affects the tune.
It's videos like this that explain what you are paying for when you want to upgrade 👍
Thanks Scott
Always appreciate each initiative and effort that enable the best end user experience possible. It makes the world of a difference for those of us who would have built a business retailing these ecus as well as directly supporting a variety of customer objectives. Thank you Haltech!
Man, all of these tutorial videos are awesome. Thats actually one of the reasons i went for a Haltech.
Jesus tuning fork that’s some info to take in. You explained it very well. Still so much more to this system. Bet haltech is honoured to have you work for them!! Marty n moog sure know who to take their cars too!!
Well todays job was to sit down and do some research and get the hang of how the datalog style tuning works (previously just road tuning with knock ears) and then bam, Haltech puts out a great video on it. Time to tune!
Neat video especially the timing part, thanks Scott.
Great introduction into data logging and how to look for issues on the logging itself. Nice work!
Awfully glad to see you smiling in these bad days. Be safe out there!
Great video&content. How different is the platinum series logger function?
Nice video you said we could ask a data logging related question and you would try answer. If 14.7 is good for the ozone layer and 12.5 makes power and deceleration fuel cut off deactivated what should my target Afr be? on pump gas when i lift off the throttle and engine breaking cheers Mike
I was doing this last night ❤️❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
When?
I have the Platinum pro for the S2000. Is there a way to log to an external USB or at the very least have the data log looping (overwriting) when the internal memory of the ecu is full?
I had to laugh when you said "home VCR". Do people still have VCR's?
Thanks for the great insight into data logging on the Haltech ECU's.
We were wondering how long it'd take before someone commented on that:)
Haltech I'm sure someone out there is still using a VCR, they were everywhere in the 90's and into the 2000's. I remember ditching most of my tapes in about 2006.
Could you do a video on the maths function, scatter graphs and other extras too?
Is there a log viewer for NSP? the log viewer built in seems quite limited , cant zoom on sections of the log
Yep love this data log helps alot spent plenty of nights playing with it your wife may hate u
We can't be held responsible for any marital issues that may or may not arise from analyzing too much data.
I have the software downloaded can I do this data logging on my stock ecu?
Which usb to obd2 cable should I buy for to do data loging ?
Could i export my car's sensors which connected to the ecu immediately on a screen and all the time of the trip?
Do I have to be connected to the ecu to setup logging options??
Do you sell the simulator tool you are using there?
hello Scott
looking to set up rear shock sensors via the VMS is this possible to be viewed on the data log ?
Hi! Please contact our tech support team via www.haltech.com/contact-us they'll be happy to help :)
How do you fellas feel about the Torque app via bluetooth for data logging duties?
Someone told me it manipulates data, and rounds numbers off for smoothing, so it's not useful. *shrug*
Is there a limit to how much can be logged to the laptop and does it log all pages you've got setup? I have an issue where my engine barely idles with logging to laptop enabled on my elite 1500 and as soon as I stop logging it comes good. Was wondering if the ECU is struggling with how much data is being logged?
When logging directly to your laptop - your laptop's specs are the limiting factor ie your hdd space. If you keep having trouble contact our tech support, one of the guys will be able to help you out:) support@haltech.com
How about a page for suspension analysis, histograms etc
Hello i want to read logs from my bmw e53 2004 - Im interested in logs from mirrors and interior lights. If anyone could also give me a hint is there a possibility to change configuration of those interior features trough fe. laptop.
Have a nice day
is there anyway to get other data logs from other engine types to download to see what they may look like in the software?
(edit) the log file is not there anymore also is there anyway to learn to tune on a haltech ECU?
Can you set it up so it always logs the last x amount of time and just keeps overriding ?
Good question, I was wondering the same
When a sensor sends a binary signal to an ecu in reference to it's system condition I understand before that reference comes an address in binary to tell the ecu which sensor is sending that data. So if say a sensor's address is 1101 and it is sending a signal of 0011 volts does it look like this 1101 0011 1101 0011 1101 0011 1101 0011? Or does he sensor just send the voltage signal of 0011? If it only sends the voltage signal how does the ecu know which sensor is sending it that data if it does not also send it's address data?
What program is this?, and where to download it? , thanks

Real shame this wouldn't work on a Bosch MED17.4 we run in Peugeot 207's. Be brilliant to see our mapping set up.
Thank for this, is it similar to say EFI live CHEERS
EFI live is a flash system for factory ECUs - Haltech is a stand-alone aftermarket ECU so yes, both are quite different.
@@haltech I'm an old points and plugs mechanic 40 years so any knowledge is good cheers from Moruya NSW. AND STAY SAFE. i meant the graphs setup, are they similar.
The principle of the graphs is similar they might be displayed in a different way though.
why are they so expensive where can i find a ore afoordable version
The only bad thing about the new software Is all the videos are now on esp
We have already started making and uploading all the tutorials on NSP:)
@@haltech great news. Your software is so nice! The switch over to nsp threw a few errors in my maps so I’m working on getting everything back the way I need it.
