I'm just a nobody who wanted to leave the THANKS to U2 and Bono in particular for so many years of magical music. Your music kept me alive as suffering from depression for many years, your music and dreaming of a better future kept me strong. Thank you and hopefully one day I can give you a big hug dear BONO. The only thing U2 has been truly guilty of has been falling head over heels in love with America. From 1980 on. I've loved this band since seeing them in a small club in Buffalo, New York in 1981 and even that night, Bono worshipped the old U.S of A. They're real in their love and message. Bono is always nudging America and reminding it of it's greatness. And he's right, because sometimes we forget.

Nothing original about the 40983958th entertainer making a Trump joke.

    • @Player_Review
      @Player_Review Před 4 lety +2

The Social-Marxism that permeates the group think won't tolerate deviance. It demands entertainers engage in outrage and open hatred of Trump, or they are not given mainstream media or venues and gigs. The award shows now are just an echo chamber of that group think, and everyone knows you'll get blacklisted if you advocate for diversity of political views or otherwise don't buy into the politically homogeneous info/entertainment rubric. I can appreciate though that they get the platforms because of their talents and use the platforms for activism and find appeal in Liberalism and party-line Progressivism/Socialism. I can still appreciate a body of work from someone that holds personal views or actions that aren't pragmatic or even non-political actions where they go to prison for criminal actions, I view the art for the art and yeah... The jokes, then and now, almost always low hanging fruit that usually doesn't get a giggle out of me. People that approve of Trump's presidency, yet acknowledge him as a nuanced character do sometimes make me laugh with 'Trumpism' impersonations or playing out Leftist perception of the man in trope format.
The nuance of saying the guy isn't that bad and not selling the angel or demon narrative, it allows the humor to be genuine and not be corrupted by personal emotion in hatred. This is why Alec Baldwin's Trump impersonation doesn't work, because his position doesn't allow for more honest depictions and laughs. Will Ferrell's W Bush impersonations worked well and he wasn't selling people on being pro-Bush, but the act was clean. Dana Carvey did/does a multitude of great political impersonations and his SNL HW Bush got him where he performed it for then President Bush Sr and staff at the White House. The difference is the hate, Madonna saying she wanted to bomb the Whitehouse and Kathy Griffin posting an image of her holding the severed head of Trump on her social media account. That isn't Kathy Griffin being funny, that is Kathy Griffin fullblown insane. They'll figure out how to do a Trump impersonation and jokes eventually, once the hate isn't so fresh as it is in their dialogue as it will be during his active office.

Illegal immigrants actually do a lot for the economy. But, US bureaucracy is a nightmare and it takes a long time to get legal status. It makes sense to me that if someone has been here a certain amount of time and has built a life for themselves then they should automatically be eligible for legal residency. In Spain where I live, it was 3 years and now it's 5. But even if someone has lived their entire life in the US they don't have any rights or opportunities?? I think it's BS.

Anyone saying they were a fan and now they’re not because you’re standing up for DREAMERs didn’t get your message.
Thank you for always lending your voice to those who need a loud voice to speak for them.
We are a great country that has accomplished incredible things, but sadly has also committed horrors because of hatred, bigotry, and indifference against minorities in the name of nativism.
Waves of immigrants have been mistreated by the wave of immigrants that came before them.
In the 1800’s newspaper help wanted ads included the line ‘Irish need not apply’, openly discriminating against Irish refugees of the Great Hunger. Today we are repeating that same ugly history.
I wonder how many descendants of those Irish refugees now stand against the DREAMERs?

Yeah, Kimmel tends to try being nonpartisan and avoids hot button topics often enough. I get the sentiment of that comment, but we also should be honest with ourselves that the context of immigration in a 1900's era population of 75 million and that immigrants were registering at Port of Entry and zero welfare state, as in if you needed government handouts then you weren't going to get one. My people came over on one side prior to the Revolutionary War and the other side from Denmark in the 1850's, they lived and died on the prairie and you would literally just die if you weren't tough enough to travel weeks or months by wagon in the snow and they couldn't bury you in the frozen Earth so would put you at the side of the trail though they often could manage shallow burials as the wagon train's men would band together for such respects. My dad still remembers his Great-Aunt that the wagon party amputated both her legs from frostbite and she didn't use a wheelchair so he remembers her just walking around on the stumps at the knee. The federal government welfare didn't rollout until FDR during the Great Depression and we love him now, but back then pre-WW2 Congress got concerned about all the big actions he was passing unchecked via executive order so they arranged emergency hearings and legislated checks and balances that nerfed the office.
That is my contention with someone like myself saying my ancestors were contextually comparable to today's illegal immigrants, those ancestors weren't 'illegal' and there wasn't a pre-existing taxpayer funded infrastructure. There was no safety net and these people went into the prairie where the land wasn't US territory and built log cabins with their hands and were two weeks horse-ride away from primitive city conveniences such as buying bags of flour, you came in and nature weeded out the weak through 'survival of the fittest/natural selection', so you understood you were going to die unexpectedly at any time and you did it anyways because that was freedom and it was what people did. They built what eventually became what we have today and it is disingenuous for people to compare today and not be cognizant of the relative incomparability. Their hearts and sentiments are in the right place, one of a desired inferrence of goodwill and kindness, but not a well-thought-out allusion to make. A lot of Dreamers, or the initial Dreamers, they're good people. The system has since been exploited, abused and ultimately was encouraging/driving some of the child trafficking and if people may disagree on that, it can agree that the numbers of illegal immigrants was untennable for any government and only the US has been subject to these numbers of immigrants, illegal or not; Anyways, DACA was being exploited and the program was set up as a temporary renewal system, a District Court Judge ruled it unconstitutional and the Supreme Court will issue a final ruling in 2020 where it is expected they will uphold the ruling that it isn't a law that operates within the confines of the US Constitutional framework. We're going to want working immigrants that have been playing by the rules to have a path for citizenship, so we won't be tossing out good actors. Dreamers didn't intentionally break US law and/or were too young to be held accountable for doing so, whatever adults were in the crossing party (if any) and/or adults/guardians in the US at point of their status lapsing or transitioning into 'illegal and if a repeat offender avoiding US rulings for them to self vacate from the Country within alloted time could be prosecuted as a felony and that will/would bar them from future consideration should they exercise legal paths for entry/Citizenship, because those with criminal history at felon levels are not candidates for a nation that operates with rules and laws one must abide by and why would a repeat offender against those rules be one to respect them?
They will work something out that isn't bad policy that 'feels good in the moment', because that is sometimes a desire and emotions pass really bad legislation in history, where they blitzed through not being well-thought-out or subjected to appropriate scrutiny. We see examples including unconstitutional reforms to 2nd-Amendment protections surfacing and exploiting mass shootings to drive them and 1st-Amendment protections popping up in some discourse when discussing how best to engineer Citizens/people into compliance with Progressive rulebook for public discourse, what you can say and why and when you can say it and that it does not mean others necessarily can also do so depending on their real and/or perceived identity politics. So this person can call that person a racist, but that person could not call the other one a racist were the skin pigments reversed, because their book dictates only majority race can be racist or called out as such and minority can and should call out as racist the majority if they act or say something either racist or subjective inferrence of racism; Examples would include Progressive views that supporting Trump's presidency or wearing pro-Trump merchandise is 'racist', not agreeing with the viewpoints of the claimant party is 'racist', in some circumstances if you are physically a minority by race, religion, sexual preference, etc then you _can_ still be found tried as majority race if your actions or words difffer from the claimants they can brand you as a 'race traitor/uncle tom/other perjoratives' so example being black Progressives calling a black Republican a 'race traitor', while the accused party's retort, defense or viewpoints are elevated by Progressive rulebook to 'NAZI' or 'White Supremacist' levels and they'll call black Republicans 'white supremacists' and Jewish Republicans or nuanced support leaning toward that end, while obviously and observedly by the claimant to be a Jewish person that identifies as racially and religiously Jewish wearing a yarmulke, they can be called a 'NAZI' for viewpoints not aligned to the Social-Marxist positions. So, Progressives can call anyone with dissenting viewpoints anything, non-Progressives aren't to voice viewpoints not aligned to Progessive ones and can only call someone out for breaches if they are a minority and the accused is judged less-progressive or in any way determined to not be ashamed of themselves, American history and American present. Victimhood coupled with many overlapping protection status intersectionality is the best chance at exercising free speech without legislation proposals that would exempt Progressivism and condemn Conservatism and debates involving opposing views to Social Marxism. Also, failure to ask preferred pronoun before addressing said party would be a criminal act, recognizing genderfluidity and identity politics fluidity where you must ask that same party repeatedly as one should never presume one's preferred pronoun even if they were this last exchange they may now be identifying differently. Illegal to imply that someone clinically classified as morbidly obese, that it isn't a beautiful thing or in any way could be unhealthy for said party. Social credit scores go up or down based on exercizing the Progressive zeitgeist in speech, actions and self identification (Trump hating/man hating/Republican hating/white person hating (even or especially if claimant is white themselves, which they aren't if they don't want to be and a change in hair color along with short cut and clothing and behavior of the toxic male patriarchy' trope, those are the ideal traits of protection that put its protection and social credit score above Transgendered, at the bottom are white cishet males, Jewish pTrump supporters and Republican supporters.
^ I forgot a bunch of the rulebook, but 'fascist' is another blanket term that hate speech laws may seek to add for protection against being called it, with exceptions in the law for them to call anyone else a 'fascist' if their viewpoint doesn't align with the Progressive Social-Marxism, so if you're a fascist then you are called anti-fascist or (antifa) and enjoy freedom to call everyone but the fascists a fascist. When looking at the rulebook, such exemptions always exist to call others derogatory terms if they aren't Progressive groupthought, if you're racist then call people racists, etcetera and it isn't hypocrisy by Progressive definition that has ambiguous coinage and co-option of such terms like 'fascist' can be just a way of telling someone they aren't Progressive enough or they are not supporting the people that are the preferred social identity politics hierarchy as being superior to others regardless of content of character, to be actively fighting racism one must become racist by standard dictionary terms which is the opposite of racist by Progressive terms to long as said party is calling less Progressive people 'racists. Big social credit if portraying the climate change position to hurt petrocurrency and prop up lithium futures as this hurts the US economy and strengthens China's and Progressive Social-Marxism dictates anti-American sentiments and policy

Ever since Live Aid, Bono and the rest of the band saw where they stand into the global political arena, respecting all leaders who want to do more to help all of humanity ... if you don't like what was just said, and believe the Grand Cheeto is the answer, you've listened too much to Limbaugh and Fox News ... you can't be a Trump supporter and a true fan of U2, it's two different sides of political stance ...

Well I wish it was that easy I mean I get it but mostly for the ones that want to come but the line is limited for those that I think are very capable but don’t. Some even take 10 years even more to qualify which is unfortunate well in my view without due respect because I believe if someone wants to come here to make a living great but for those who want to harm and start violence then no…

Remember guys in rock bands back in high school? Are these the guys that you really want to hear spouting political opinions? These were the guys that were usually too stoned to stay awake during civics class.

Or were you just not paying attention? Maybe you should investigate their back catalogue. There's a pretty signifgant song on *every single album* where they pushed back. Yes, even on '97s Pop.

John Banks I live in Europe and met immigrants from Syria. I can clearly say that their situation is our (Europe and US and other countries) fault. The reason they come is that their houses/ city have been completely destroyed because of our gouvernement. We may not like our president or government but we have to accept the fact that they have to leave their country because of what is happening and come to our countries. If we hadn't done anything to Syria, they'd never had left their country. And they don't come to rape us or what so ever. They come to have a normal life.

Why doesn't Bobo talk about Brexit as much as Trump that's weird 🤔😐😏 it's like an American 🇺🇸🗽 more concerned with Brexit instead of Trump shouldn't we focus more on our own countries then others it seems like a lot of celebrities are trying to gain publicity and more fans the actually helping for example, instead of creating charities that they collect other people's money they should pool together their own money even 1 million from each celebrity would help out instead of $25, 000 from each celeb for 🌪 Harvey there is a reason it's difficult for the rich to get into heaven they'd rather pool others money then have to part with a lot of their own $25, 000 to the rich is like $5 for middle class please 😫🙏🙏💓 wake up people to celebs just using current events for sales it's sickening 😷🤒 and please no negative replies I'm just stating my opinion like everyone else thank 🙏💕 you
