I love U2, always appreciated their political point of view, but like so many in these changing times they've got to be very careful of what they say to keep their legacy intact. It's clear to see that Bono was shying away from answering about Trump, and he didn't express any direct opinion as much as he reflected the opinions of his industry, which is just being smart. He's always outspoken and knows how to hit the nail on the head, but here he keeps it short and vague. It's a sign of the times. I hope the guys in U2, or anyone else for that matter, can find a way to make music again that can heal and unite everyone and capture people's imaginations in a way that can make some sense out of the complicated mess we're in. U2 accomplished a lot in their time, so whatever kind of hula they have to do around politics today doesn't change how much I've enjoyed their music and ideas in the past.

Stop bashing Bono and U2, he has been one of the biggest humanitarians and activists of the last 25 years and knows much more about this than the average American - who quite frankly don't realise that whoever becomes President will affect the entire world.
If he opens his mouth to criticize, He opens himself up to criticism. And Bono is flippin' WRONG on this (as he is on so many other things). People for get he's an ENTERTAINER. Being able to sing well means he can sing well -it doesn't mean he magically becomes an expert on unrelated subjects.
TisiphonesShadow He's not just an entertainer, he probably spends more time on his activism and humanitarian work than his music nowadays. Bono has had experience in political affairs since the early 80's and has been having meetings with prime ministers and presidents regularly for the past 15 years (did a degree at Harvard about 15 years ago in it too). He's a very important figure in that world and is not just a singer. I'm just a Brit and I hear Hillary's bad news, but at least she's qualified and isn't as much as a joke as Trump.
And that provides him expertise in government HOW, exactly?
He's been working closely with politicians for over 20 years, he has far more knowledge in the area than your average American.

Why listen to someone who has been around the world a bunch of times, met and worked with numerous leaders of countries, and experienced so much more than the majority of the people in this world?
