  • This week was a busy and productive week! We finished making the house water tight with house wrap and flashing tape. We dug almost 200ft of trench and most importantly we dug our well so we can get water to our home!

Love having neighbors with toys like that they enjoy playing with lol. Could definitely tell the entry point didn't go as planned and could see the frustration. Hope it turns out for the better and look forward to the next video.

Oh, I hope 🤞 you found your water pipes. It was sad to not know if you got the water hooked up. Here in Australia our councils keep records of every building and fixture on the property and they have a map of all the water pipes and electricity cables etc. so before you dig anywhere on your property you have to consult the council records. It’s to make it easier when you want to build an addition or put in a pool, so you don’t damage the pipes in the ground. It’s much easier to find the pipes if you want to hook up new bits.

I was active in local government when we lived in Oregon at which time I learned multiple cities and counties in the NW did not allow rain water capture systems because they needed the income to pay for their water and waste systems. Portland was supposed to have changed laws to allow it, but I am not sure if it passed or not.

Many areas still allowed wells in rural areas assuming they had not installed a water delivery system. I never understood why they allowed one and not the other.

@@jcferg3370 ground water is water trapped in the ground. Rain catchment systems lessen the flow of water into streams and lakes and can cause lower levels downstream. I know Utah doesn't allow water catchment systems, and that makes more sense because it is much more arid there. Washington State is so rainy, I'm surprised they care.
