Thank you for stopping by to watch our Honda Civic exterior mirror replacement. We love working on Honda, especially this Civic. This was one of the easiest mirror replacements we had to do in a while. The interior door panel was a breeze to remove. Driving without a car mirror can be a huge pain in the neck, literally. It is also illegal to be driving without a car mirror in a lot of states. Do your best without one but don't wait too long to replace it.
COMPATIBLE YEARS:
2021 HONDA CIVIC (SEDAN)
2020 HONDA CIVIC (SEDAN and COUPE)
2019 HONDA CIVIC (SEDAN and COUPE)
2018 HONDA CIVIC (SEDAN and COUPE)
2017 HONDA CIVIC (SEDAN and COUPE)
2016 HONDA CIVIC (SEDAN and COUPE)
TOOLS NEEDED:
You will need a 10mm wrench, preferably a socket wrench. You will also need a panel clip removal tool, but you can use a flat-head screwdriver as well. If you use the flat-head screwdriver, be careful not to scuff the plastic door panel. You will also need a Phillip's screwdriver for one little screw.
PROCESS:
This is a very easy replacement for any mechanic or gearhead. You will have to remove your door panel to access the wire harness for the exterior mirror. Most interior door panels have more than one screw securing them to the door frame. We're pretty lucky with this Civic because there is only one behind the window control module. Pop that module off with your panel clip removal tool or your flat-head screwdriver. Once you have the interior panel off, it's now time to take the mirror off. Release the three nuts securing the mirror. Then carefully unplug the wire harness to the mirror. You will have to pop one plastic clip that holds the wire to the door. Remove your mirror and replace it with your newly painted ReveMoto mirror! Or, whatever mirror you may have. Make sure that your mirror has a rubber or foam grommet on the bottom. This will stop water and road noise from polluting your vehicle. Secure the mirror onto the door by working backward. Be sure to check the mirror's functionality before completely installing it. There is nothing worse than finishing the job only to see that the mirror's electric functions don't work. Make sure you snap on the interior mirror cover before you install the door panel. When you attach the door panel, be sure the green clips snap into place. Re-install the window module and you are completely done!

This video saved me $1700! Honda shop wanted $1800 to replace. Found online for $100 and used video to swap out. You’re the man.
Thank you! Exactly why we make these videos. Go to www.ReveMoto.com
Thanks for this video made the replacement easy peasy. Dealership was going to charge me $600+. Bought it and installed it for less than $100 and under an hour! Thank you!
Nice work! Thank you for watching.
Where you buy your mirror?
@icecool85 Amazon. Don't have the exact page but can look for it if you're having trouble finding it. Let me know.
@cesarromo7391 were you able to take the color plate off and put it on your new mirror or did it come with it?
@icecool85 came with it but my car is black so might be easier to find than other colors.
I recently thrashed my passenger side mirror and really couldn’t afford the $600 my dealership wanted to charge me to fix it. I’ve never done a car repair before, but a friend at work mentioned how inexpensive it was to buy the part, and together with this video I now have a new side mirror for less than $100. Your tutorial is excellent and spot-on, step by step. It barely took any time at all. Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching! Glad 😀 the video helped save you a ton of money! Go to www.ReveMoto.com for replacement parts
Accomplished this today for a friend. Went just as you said. Thank you for the video, instruction and confidence!
Dealership wanted to charge me over a 1,000. Bought the mirror for 123.00 and installed it myself. Thank You!
Very helpful video. The shop wanted $ 1,400 to do this job. I bought the mirror, watched your video and everything went according to plan! Thanks!
my husband & i fixed both of my mirrors in less than 2 hours thanks to this video!! super thankful i was able to find a video on something so specific lol

Glad it helped and thank you for watching!
Thanks man that was so much easier than I thought it would be. Appreciate your tutorial!!!
Glad it helped!
Thank you SOOOOOO much for this video. Same as some of the other comments, I got charge $664 and that was without installation, just the assembly and the cap, which btw were both sold separately. I was a bit tight on money as I had just spent like 2k on an upcoming trip and decided to give it a try. Thanks to this video the hardest part was finding the cap with the right color. Thanks a million for making this easy to follow along with.
I am more than happy to help. More happy that you were able to save money! Hope your triple was awesome and if you need parts next time go to www.ReveMoto.com
My man! Many thanks. Knowing where to look for screws, which panels to pull and where and in what order was a huge time saver. Changed this mirror on a 2019 and it was half an hours work. The mirror I found had a black molded cover but I had the original and was able to save and reuse it. Make sure to use a trim tool to keep from scratching the door leather and anywhere there is paint or plastic. Found a that kit for less than $20 at a hardware store. Worth having around anyway. Dealership wanted over $1600 counting the paint for the cover (which I explained I didn’t need but they wouldn’t touch it unless they did a new painted cover. Thanks again!!
That’s why I do these videos so everyone can save money! Glad it help you out

This helped greatly. Thank you so much!!! I've got a 2006 Honda Civic sedan that was similar. Main differences were that there is an extra screw behind the inside door handle and the bolts for the mirror are not nearly as accessible. In the 2006 there's another metal interior panel behind the finished interior panel. But there were little holes to access the bolt nuts.
Hello and thank you for the advice. We love Honda's, the body might change but they always keep everything simple. Cheers!
Amazing instructions, worked like a charm thank you

Really good no nonsense video. Only opinion I have is to leave the mirror bolted until all the wiring is removed to prevent it from dropping and also to bolt the new one on before wiring it. Otherwise a really helpful video, thanks so much!

Just replaced my son's mirror with a Revmoto color matched unit with the help of this video. The color match was perfect and the mirror fit and worked perfectly. My only addition is that if you are replacing one with lane watch, the camera will need to be re-aimed.
and how do you do that?
@@arak1 first choice is to take it to a dealer who will charge more than $100. I googled it and found several posts on forums on how to do it. There are videos here on youtube on how to do it. I downloaded an image of an aiming target and printed it on a 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper and mounted it on a ladder. It’s a little complicated but one person in the car and another moving the target can get it done in 10 to 15 minutes.
Thanks. Super straight forward. I look forward to doing mine instead of the repair shop doing it
Yeah replacing it is super simple. Just follow these steps so you don’t break or misplace a screw during install. If you need the mirror go to www.ReveMoto.com
@@ReveMoto Great video. Took me about 20 minutes to replace the mirror. Only thing I would add is my mirror did not work until both wire harnesses were connected. Both the mirror harness and the door lock and window harness.

Glad it helped!
Honda quoted me $435 to replace the mirror and to aim the camera. Camera takes 5 minutes. So works out to about $1400/hr. Thankful for CZcams.
You saved me! Excellent tutorial. Thanks a lot. I would like to mention, though, that when you get to the point where you’re testing out the new mirror, in order to see if it functions, you need to temporarily plug back in the panel that controls the windows and locks. If you don’t plug that in, the mirror might not work. So plug the window and lock panel in first, then try the mirror. If the mirror works, unplug the window and locks panel, and then continue with the rest of your tutorial, putting in the window and lock panel again at the end.
Overall fantastic tutorial. Thanks again!
Appreciate you sharing the tip!
My new mirror didn't come with the clip that is attached to the wire. Did yours come with it? I might have to tape it. Or maybe if I can remove the clip from the old mirror and reuse it?
@@timothylee2772 I purchased my replacement, mirror kit directly from the Honda dealership. Using my Vin number, they gave me the correct piece, which matched perfectly with what I needed, including the clips. Perhaps if you got your piece from a third-party, it might not come with the clips. I imagine that maybe you could tape it but I’m not certain. Good luck though.
@@christophercamaguey3006Ok...Thank you. I didn't want to pay $600 for the parts.😅😅So I went for eBay.😮😮I'll see if it works or not..and yah..I have to tape it using industrial tape...no other way.

Super helpful! Can't check the power of the mirror without plugging in the window/locking mechanism on arm rest tho (I was confused why it didn't work for a while)
Glad it helped and that is a great reminder/tip!
How can you test the mirror before plugging in the control panel?
Thanks
No problem!
Just replaced my mirror using this tutorial and it took less than an hour, thank you so much! It was the drivers side mirror so it had two additional cables for the trunk control and the mirror control but it wasn’t too much more difficult. Question- would you damage the car if you tried just taking just the small cover off and not the entire panel? I noticed on videos for other car brands that you only have to remove the small cover to replace the mirror.
Glad to here that our video helped! It depends, if you nee to replace the glass or cap, you can just remove those. The glass can be gently pulled off. It's held on by plastic clips and has some wires if the glass is heated. To remove the cap, take the glass off and pop the caps plastic tabs with a flat-head from the inside. I hope this helps!
@@ReveMotoMy new mirror doesn't come with the clip attached to the wire. Can you remove the clip off the wire from your old mirror and attach it to the one from your new mirror?
Hi, can you tell me if i can change a mirror without signal lights with one that has signal light and overtaking sensor? Does the plug fit?
Great video and really helpful, thank you. Do you have a video for removing and replacing the whole driver door?
Sorry no we don't at the moment. Go to www.ReveMoto.com for any painted autobody parts.
Thanks for video simple and clean but i need an answer, i have a 21 Lx civic and which option do i choose for the base right side mirror? I do NOT need the one with right side view camera.

Thanks for your video. It is so clear and helpful. Just one quick question: Is it the same procedure for Honda civic 2018, 2 door? I found there is a handle near the switch for this Model but was not in the car you used. Thanks for your help in advance.
Thank you and hello! The process should be similar. We haven't worked on a 2-door before but the doors are bigger than the 4-door. So, there may be an extra screw holding the door panel on. Great job and thanks for the 2-door tip!
You’re video is very helpful is it the same process with the speaker on the other side ? I have 2016 Honda Civic .
Hello and yes, it is the same process. Thank you for watching!

Any video ro replace just the led instead of all mirror?
Hi
I want to swap out my manual side mirrors with power ones. I am going go get the mirrors from a donor car.
Can you please suggest if i need just the mirrors from the donor car or need to take out any wires as well to plug in my car.
Thx
I wouldn't recommend it cuz the whole dash harness needs to be changed. That is a huge undertaking.
Thanks!
Is it possible to get the housing only? The electronics is working, only the plastic is cracked and mirror popped out (not damaged).
Hello! The housing for most mirrors is tough unless it's a cap. Most of the time manufactures will make the motor part of the housing. I believe that the hatchback might be a mirror cap but the Sedan/coupe is one whole housing. Please chat with our staff online for more answers. www.revemoto.com
Great video! Did you disconnect the car battery when performing the install?
I didn’t it was fine.

Quick question are the plug where we connect the mirror are 7 pin plug or no? In trying to buy a aftermarket, but only fits 7 pin plug model.
Hello! I tried to check for you but I could not find a photo of the pins. It depends on the features of your mirror. If it has camera or more options, it may require more pins. As long as your features match what you are buying, it should be fine. You can also call us and we can find the correct mirror for you! www.revemoto.com
Got it! I need some help because I have the 2016 lx civic, but idk if it is 7 pin plug model
