  • In today's video, I'm going to be swapping out my driver side mirror for a new one.
A couple of months ago, I was driving down the 105 freeway here in Los Angeles, when another vehicle got too close to me and hit my mirror. The driver cracked the mirror and broke the cover and housing.
I am going to be swapping in a new 2014-2015 Honda Civic LX mirror onto my car. I paid about $75 shipped on eBay. The only difference between an SI mirror and an LX mirror is the base. On the LX, the base is non-painted OEM black, on the Si, the base matches the color of the car.
Also Note that the mirrors from 2012-2013 look different than the 2014-2015 mirrors, but the work to swap them out is the same.
    Tools Needed
    10mm socket
    3/8 ratchet
    Screwdriver
    Flat Head is Optional
Time for this project about 25mins.

Thank you so much for doing this video! I was able to save $300 dollars doing it myself instead of having the dealership do it!!!

Whatever you do don’t drop one of those nuts inside the car door. It is as good as gone. I know from experience.

Lol I dropped my 10m in my door but I got it out with a neodymium magnet on the end of an extension

For those like me who also dropped the nuts into the car door: it is an M6 x1.0mm nut (with a flange, but I just replaced it with a regular nut and matching washer, and it worked fine). You can also buy them from Honda, but they can be pretty expensive.

Yup. Just experienced this. Luckily the replacement came with nuts.

Same here. There's some sort of portal in time in the bottom of the door

Got my job done! Thanks for the insights. In my efforts for 2012 Civic e-xl, I ordered 3rd party mirror assembly from Rock Auto, had to pop the cover off of that one that as it was still in good shape, and popped it onto the new one (another youtube vid can show you how to do that). Also, I dropped one of the nuts into the door (I had been warned!) but I got another one from Home Depot.

This does not apply to the 2014 Civic Couple LX- the handle you pull the door shut with is different. There is an extra vertical piece, trim that must be pried off, then screws removed. On this one, the console with the switches cannot be pried up as shown here.

Man this place tried to charge me 689 bucks to change a mirror and my head lights, like what in the actual fuckkkkk, I spent 115 dollars and 1 hour of my time to get all of it done. At what point are businesses a scam? I think we are there in the trade industry for sure.
