Cinnamon, through all of these years, you have continually given me the confidence to paint. To put pencil to paper. To at least DO SOMETHING. I cannot thank you enough for that confidence. I grew up in a house of critics (except my cute mom) and so if anything I drew looked “wonky” my siblings (and sometimes my dad- thanks dad…🤣) would poke fun at it or make some snarky remark, that would deflate any confidence I may have built up. I put away any and all art supplies until 10 years ago, but I’m still not the level I want to be, but with your and our art family’s support, I know I WILL get there!

I realize your words and journey goes out to our whole community, however, I so often feel like your words are “to me”, no doubt because I needed them that day or in that moment. I am here, in my home in north GA, feeling “feels” for you and understanding getting overwhelmed with “too much” of anything - positive or negative. I have learned that I have to really limit my own negative thinking and what I take in. I feel deeply. And have had to understand what it is to be a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and being able to manage it in a healthy way. Lots of love and hugs 🥰🫶🏼

Thank you for the explanation of outsider art. Just today, I questioned my approach to my artwork as being too crafty and too paint night slanted. I was reminded by my teacher that design is a huge part of making art, regardless of the quality of materials or the source of your experience. I am proud to have learned to love and enjoy art the way I have, and it is valid and a great basis for further learning. I need to remind myself not to be intimidated by other artists who have studied and trained more formally than I have.

I'm going to try to make this one. I'm in therapy now, after ending a 35yr marriage that became abusive. Digging deep to heal and learn to love myself. I love others unconditionally, with all my heart, but never myself. It's tough rn.

Can you give more context on outsider art, folk art. Why the symetrical leaves are indicative it, why the contrasting with the black and white dashes. I would enjoy learning more when you have the energy and time.

I hope you see this. I have a very hard time seeing what you are drawing because of how light the pencil drawing. It makes it very hard for me at least to follow from the beginning of your video. I just recently started learning how to draw. I also don’t have a way to print the downloadables. Is there a way you can draw darker on paper how you are actually drawing it? I realize it wouldn’t be good to have it dark one the canvas you are painting on

This is folk art. Sometimes can be called Naive art or people will sometimes if the image is a little edgier Outsider art but really they all have a similar vibe. Huge community for this and in my opinion its wonderful
