Falling In Love With Pittsburgh

- Pittsburgh has now catapulted to the top of my favorite cities list. And I never even knew there was anything going on in Pittsburgh. From the landscape to the architecture, the people, and culture, I could certainly see myself visiting Pittsburgh regularly and possibly even living there for an extended period of time.

Have you ever been to Pittsburgh? What are your thoughts about my experience there? I’d love know!
Here's a good tip in Pittsburgh if you qualify for snap you can get into the Carnegie's science center and museums for a dollar. This gives lower income children the same chances at educational experiences.
I live in Pittsburgh
I live in Pittsburgh!!!
I live in Pittsburgh and have grown up here , it’s a great city with great people !
If you're ever back hit me up and I'll take you around the city. Not sure if you made it to the south side, north shore, shady side, mount Washington e.t.c.
Someone once described Pittsburgh as “big enough to matter, small enough to care.” And I really feel like that resonates in my 28 years here and even with this video. It’s got enough going on to find something to do, but small enough that you have such a great community from every background.
That's a very accurate description of the city.
All I can say is that you did my city proud. Glad you had a good time. I've been here 55 years. Gotta get to the Strip District.
It’s a phenomenal place
Stephen Pruszenski yessss he did ya justice ‼️👍
Been here 28 years 412 pgh for life
I grew up in Michigan, moved to Florida for 7 years and have been in Pittsburgh for the last 6 years... I absolutely love this city. I have found that a lot of people that have lived here their whole lives seem to have a huge desire to leave but from what I've seen this place is pretty amazing. The people are so kind, the city itself has a lot to do, and it's beautiful.
I wouldn’t mind picking up a place or 2 there.
I appreciate u guys actually indulging in the city life. It isn’t as flashy as NYC or big city but there’s no other place I’d rather be from〽️⚠️
I honestly fell in love with Pittsburgh. Seems like a great city
Lol you know there is no comparison between the 2 cities.
Pittsburgh was fine until it started to try to be like other cities.
Your interaction with the gas station guy is something that has frustrated me about this town for as long as I can remember. I'm born and raised in the area, but I've been many places. It always drives me crazy when people say "there's nothing to do here". There is SO much to do that I would say that it would be difficult to do it all in a year, let alone a day. Maybe it's not all your thing, but it's there. Thank you for recognizing that immediately. Glad you enjoyed our town!

I’m from Pittsburgh and I’m extremely happy this came on my feed ❤️ I really appreciate you and everything you’ve said about our city it means a lot! Much love 🖤💛

Moved here from SoCal 5 years ago. Pittsburgh was carved out of mountains! I think that gives the place extra character and charm. There’s something interesting wherever you look. The people are awesome. It’s grown on me and now I love it. So glad you do, too.
It’s a phenomenal place
Any advice for someone considering moving out there? Im also from Southern California but looking to move out! Have heard many great things about Pitt!
My husband and I conducted a two-year nationwide search of places to move from Florida. Pittsburgh won. We moved here six months ago and couldn't he happier. We could have moved anywhere. We chose the City of Bridges because it has extreme high quality of life and it's affordable, it's beautiful and friendly, it's progressive and diverse, it's economically strong and has an arts culture second to no other city of its size. We love it here!
It’s d seriously consider moving there if I didn’t love Detroit so much
The winters suck there tbh
Speaking of being carved out of a mountain...if you come back you should visit Kennywood our roller coasters fall off and contour along the side of mountains!!
That’s pretty impressive
Facts.
Took my wife there in 2017, she did not want to leave, go back every year, twice this year, hope to move there in the years to come
And I’ll definitely be back for sure.
Loveeeeee Pittsburgh been here for 1 year. And going through the tunnel and seeing the city never gets old. There's so much art and culture
I loved it too

Born and raised in Pittsburgh and I still have a love affair with it. Nothing to do? 3 major sports teams, movies always being filmed here where you can be an extra, the museums and what about all the famous actors who came from here
Exactly! People are just boring. I guess they want the entertainment to come to them.
Born and raised in The Burgh, grew up in west Oakland and the hill, never was bored...so many places to eat, three professional sports teams, all types of festivals, meetings people from all over the world. Museums, parks, the aviary, Phipps, the science center, Kenny wood, the zoo, concerts etc....and then don’t forget all of the history, madam CJ walker had a school there, George Benson from the burgh, August Wilson etc....I was never ever bored and I am an introvert for real for real....anyone bored there is because they are a boring person...they take themselves everywhere they go and there they will be bored.
I was born in a town 40 minutes outside of Pittsburgh and now I go to college at the University of Pittsburgh and I love it so much!
It’s an awesome place to be
I’ve lived in Pittsburgh for 15 years, and if I have it my way I’ll be here for the rest of my life. I understand what the gas station attendant meant when he said there’s nothing to do here. It’s not like NY, LA, NOLA etc where it has something special that it’s known for. Pittsburgh is not a place I think of as a great tourist place, but it is an absolutely wonderful place to live. It is homey, down to earth, beautiful, and there are PLENTY of fun and interesting things to do here. I love this city and I love living here.
I loved it there too. I can’t wait to get back.
I've lived here all my life and it's an absolutely amazing city. Some things (like the night life) can get stale after a while but I've never had a bad time. People who say there's nothing to do just don't care to want to do anything. Pittsburgh is a city where no matter what walk of life you are, you'll find something that interests you.
You guys seem to really enjoy the culture. If you plan on visiting again I'd highly recommend coming during the Three Rivers Arts Festival. I'd also recommend checking out the Mattress Factory Museum, Andy Warhol Museum, August Wilson Center and Phipps Conservatory.
If you'd be interested in checking out neighborhoods - Lawrenceville, East Liberty, Squirrel Hill and Regent Square have great places to eat . Also Frick and Schenley Park are absolutely beautiful to walk around in.
Other random things: Kennywood Park, Gateway Clipper boat ride, Rivers Casino, Pirates game at PNC Park (the view of the city is still stunning to me) and the Carnegie Science Center (mostly for kids but 21+ night is fun!). Sorry for the long post, just glad to see you two enjoyed it so much. It's a very underrated city.
I’m definitely coming back. Thanks for the recommendations.
Thank you for doing my city justice. Like, literally how could you NOT love it! It’s awesome. So many restaurants, bars, museums, activities, and just this inexplicable feeling of just being free.
I love that place and can’t wait to get back

Chef de Prestige LLC you clearly don't understand how a city works or have visited many cities in general. Pittsburgh has a very low cost of living and this city is ranked one of the most livable cities in the us routinely. There is a growing and good job market in Pittsburgh. If you leave to the republican controlled areas outside of the city into the country side all of that changes. Clearly you're homophobic and so on as you made clear in your comment so it's best you don't live here and destroy our progressive social values of tolerance.
Chef de Prestige LLC not to mention the ideas of liberal and dictatorship are opposites.
Chef de Prestige LLC is there anything more cringey than fucking hashtags?
I caught a train from Chicago to Florida and had to pass through the mountains of Pitts during the inter. The scenery was absolutely amazing

That late 80s/early 90s you mentioned is one of my favorite aesthetics that you will see a lot of places in Pittsburgh. Thank you for visiting our town.
Thanks for the feedback
I've traveled all over the world and lived overseas. However, Pittsburgh is extremely different I believe in a good way. The city, especially when you're on the incline is breathtaking and when you're getting out of the Fort Pitt tunnels, the view of the city is amazing. Also, each neighborhood has its own feel and identity. Great hills, but tough if you drive a stick shift, LOL. Thanks for the tour!
My pleasure, thanks for the feedback
When u said that each neighborhood has its own feel & identity, that is SO TRUE!!! Despite being a Yinzer born & bred, I never stopped to think about it like that. I grew up & still live in the south hills, but now that u mentioned it, I don't have to go very far to be in a completely different neighborhood with its very own "feel & identity" as u said...well put ;-)

@@joyfulnoise1909 it certainly is. I don't think I'd wanna live anywhere else.
There is TONS of stuff to do. Idk why anyone would say that. This is my city and it's the best city ever. The food and culture are amazing. Also we have public transportation not sure where you stayed.
I was just saying the public transportation isn’t as robust as other cities like Boston, NY, Minneapolis. But I loved going there. It was amazing.
People that live here complain there’s nothing and meanwhile, they haven’t been anywhere else! I come from upstate NY, farm country, where the recession never left. It has one of the highest welfare rates in the state, and you have people fighting over minimum wage jobs. There’s no public transportation, no Lyft or Uber, I restaurants really except an Applebee’s and, if you feel like driving 20-30 minutes, a Texas Roadhouse.
I moved to Pittsburgh and was able to find a job immediately. I make more here than I did in NY (Much, much lower taxes!) and I can comfortably live by myself and support myself. There are tons of affordable housing options, and they’re mostly by the bus lines.
I’m glad you enjoyed Pittsburgh and saw the same positives that I see!
Oh, and the people here are a million times friendlier also!
That’s so interesting and a great perspective. I think most people there that say that haven’t been to too many places outside of Pittsburgh. They’d appreciate it more.
The people that complain here live out in the suburbs and never leave their enclaves.
Why didn’t you just move to NYC???
Box Outside been there, done that.
People in general are friendly here
I love Pittsburgh. A lot of people say Boston feels more like a town then a city, I think the same for Pittsburgh
Thanks for visiting our city of Pittsburgh .. one thing you forgot to do that I always tell any visitors to do.. is to see mt Washington and see the incredible view of the whole downtown Pittsburgh... hopefully you will visit again and check out that epic view.

When I was little I thought that Pittsburg was your generic city. Now I realize the reason people love this place. The thing about Pittsburgh is I think it is influenced by the fact that it is a hub between Chicago, New York, Philly, and D.C. It's got great food and culture. The bridges and hills create an awesome setting as well. And now it seems to be finding itself in the 21st century by leaving the blue collar life behind and embracing the more artist and tech future. #SweetSpot

I’ve been on a kick recently watching reviews of Pittsburgh ; have seen lots, this was better done than any of the others. Really nice work.
“Secret Under Pittsburgh,” it’s an amazing book!
I’ll have to order that one
Pittsburgh is a great city idc what anybody say. I’m proud to be from here, everybody who says there’s nothing to ever do probably just don’t do anything 😂
I agree. It’s a great place to be.
I lived in Pittsburgh all my life and it’s such a wonderful place tbh like very other place it has its downsides but the people here are so friendly
I loved it
jamier johnson I totally agree. I love the people here.
Pittsburgh Fucking Sucks...
#1 Miserable people, treat Homeless Americans like they are NOTHING
#2 Shitty pay no matter the job excluding CDL driving and Tech.
#3 good luck affording a degree in programing python or anything relevant in 2019 or beyond.
$4 The Democrats rip you of your children when your poor and never give them back no matter how good a man or woman you are. The straightest edge will lose to the corrupt Democrat back stabbers and jagoffs in Pittsburgh PA and any city for that matter.
#5 If you have a job and are homeless, good luck getting into the shelters, Allegheny County won't let you. Try being #246 on the waiting list for 5 years.
Yet Allegheny County gets 900k annually from HUD specifically to create housing or Apartments.
Never fucking happens. No ground is purchased, no mini homes built, nothing modern
Just Democrats patting them selves in the back at Meat n Potatoes restaurant, in Downtown or some private Meetup, with their gay dem liberal ass licking back stabbing rapist friends.
And nothing, not a damn thing gets accomplished.
Like bike Lanes for 3 months out of the year, and freezing your ass off in the fall and winter for 6 months day n night, Because bike Lanes in East coast are more important than heated bus shelters, or ADA accessible sidewalks, or 24/7 accessible day cares for single parents with REAL teachers , social workers, dieticians, that make good salaries instead of poor minimum wage workers getting monthly payments from Allegheny county cheap asses.
I'm telling you
Stay away from Cities like Pittsburgh PA.
I fled, and found countless jobs outside of Pittsburgh PA.
Trust
#Pittsburgh is BROKE
#No Jobs in Pittsburgh
#Pittsburgh Extreme Poverty induced by Democrats and Liberal Dictatorship economics.
People from here think it's boring. I'm from Philly I love it out here haha
It’s a great city
@@AntonDaniels I'm learning things I never knew from this video as well. Thank you. Glad to be a new subscriber. Keep traveling dude. Be safe.
Pittsburgh is a very beautiful city geographically. It hasn't been "hell with the lid off of it" in at least 40 years.
😂
Yea dad described it same he came to l a in56 started a family wow been there alot really beutiful
Any Pittsburgh locals have any advice/tips for someone considering moving there? I am from Southern California and tired of how crowded and expensive it is here (and tired of endless heat/summer so lack of sunny days is not something I'm worried about).
Just pick up and get the heck out of there.
Honestly this place does look really cool.
It’s pretty awesome
Thank you for doing this! I absolutely love that you enjoyed Pittsburgh! Come back soon!
I can’t wait to get back!
Thanks for sharing your travels! It's always fascinating to see an outsider's perspective of my beautiful hometown :)
I’m glad you appreciate it, because I certainly love it there ❤️
My second home too. Detroit is my first and birmingham is my third lol. But downtown is awesome and the view from I think Washington road is beautiful. Glad you got to visit there.
It’s such a hidden gem
Yes it is. That place with the tall glass window buldings I had my little cuz running thru the water fountain, I was taken his parents engagement pictures. Super nice down there. Next time head to kennywood park it's nice too. Not as big as cedar point though.
I live in Pittsburgh and Detroit is my second home!! I work in Detroit every other week and i love Detroit
The view is Mt.Washington not washington rd!! That view is where I lived for yrs...
Lived there from when I was 5 to when I was 11. Really a great place. Everyone knows everyone and it’s a great community. I lived in Squirrel Hill and I think that’s what I mostly saw and loved. It is not like what anyone ever says about it.
I’m sure its different that whats being projected.
Came Across My feed today and its great to watch someone else enjoy your city. Its like getting a reminder of all of the things that are really great about the area and seeing all of the places you didn't get to visit, reminds me to hit those places again. Thanks for the video man. I know how much work it is to try and vlog on vacation.
Thank you. Most people think its easy, but its a lot of work!
I'm from Pittsburgv. Thank you for some good revies of it. I think its amazing too. I loved the content
Thanks so much. I’ll be back.
Dude, I work at the record store The Government Center where you recorded that band (Nox Boys) playing outside around 1:45! Haha
It’s an awesome store
AWESOME VID MY FRIEND!!! As a 'Yinzer' (not sure if u heard that phrase when u were here...we use it rather than calling ourselves 'Pittsburgers'), any tribute given to our wonderful city is VERY much appreciated by just about everyone who call the Steel City their home. (Except for maybe the guy u spoke to at the gas station, ha). Thx so much for showcasing our beautiful city. If there's one thing us locals have it's civic pride, so I know that everyone who watched this vid appreciated it a whole lot. ;-)
Some people are downers 😂 but you’re awesome
Hope you loved it here!!! Im from Erie but i live in Pittsburgh i come back and forth and lived in Pittsburgh and Erie most of my life its Awesome!!!❤
That’s awesome.
You any Kin to Clara Ward(in the 814)?
This showed up on my feed today glad you and your wife enjoyed your visit!!
The PPG plaza was the glass buildings in Market Square...
Oh, okay. Thanks for the insight. It’s beautiful.
I love living here. Ppl travel from around the globe to enjoy my city. Its a cultural extravaganza top sports teams, food, healthcare etc #herewego
I love me stopping through. I really enjoyed it.
Deeja, as a fellow African American I've heard the racism is pretty bad. Yet I've been there a few times and while I did get a few looks people were a lot friendlier than here in the DC area while I live. What are your thoughts as someone who is from there?
@@ousamaabdu794 there is rasism everywhere we go but here its not so easy to spot. There are a few people that i have encountered but overall as far as i can tell pittsburghers are mostly good people. But there's a buttwhole in every bunch of apples but that doesnt mean you cancel out the whole bag. Pittsburgh is rich in culture. African Indian Asia Irish Cambodian Spanish and the list goes on. I enjoy exploring different cultures, their customs and food. I dont let the negative affect me and live my best life.

Thanks for the reply!
Born and raised there til I was 15. Seeing these familiar places gave me such happiness :)
I’m from Pittsburgh thank you for saying good things and thank you for visiting
Thank you for the feedback. And I can’t wait to get back!
Best city in the world! Born and raised!
That’s awesome
This was a great video. McCandless Crossing is like five minutes from my house.
Thanks fam
I know this is old and a lot may have changed but Im headed for a weekend trip to Pittsburg from Philly and Im glad I came across this video!
Ah I miss Pittsburgh so much. Just recently moved back to my hometown in WV and all I think about is moving back. Pittsburgh has and is everything
Seems like a phenomenal place to live
Yes .. I love my city. Thanks for highlighting that there is lots to do here because there are tons of people like the guy at the gas station that are missing out on life here in Pittsburgh. I don't like how you pointed out a group of black people standing at the bus stop as "Seedy Characters" ... I'll let you think about that
They weren’t all black (at the bus stop) and I actually edited out some of the incredibly bad things that they were doing so that I could paint the city in a more positive light. They were seedy because they were participating in seedy activity... and they just so happen to be black. I’ll let you think about that.
i love the strip i live in west virginia i can be in ohio in 2 min and PA pitts in 25 i go there all the time great place for sure . all of pitts is so interesting! great vid!
I love Pitt
Absooooolutely.
I thought about moving to Pittsburgh about 15 years ago. If it wasn't for the cold I probably would try to get transferred to our location there today. Pretty city, good transit, inexpensive homes, etc. But my fingers and toes are too old now for the cold.
I get it... I’m 38 right now and already moving to Florida for the Winter
He was right! There is nothing here! The accent is horrible. The average Pittsburgher doesn't travel and if they do they go to similar non multicultural places. We just recently got an influx of hispanic people. The jobs here are and have been locked down and dominated by the Polish, Irish, and Italians. Yep! We're on the Appalachian Mountain range. Many years ago some property was given away bc of the mountainous terrain. In my older age and not having to drive everyday I have come to appreciate my rolling hill bc I can garden better here. The weather hardly ever goes above 80 degrees so that's nice, but we are sunshine challenged here compared to Eastern PA. The view of the Three Rivers is awesome! It is nice that we do not have a high crime level in the suburbs. Pittsburgh does have a good arts district for a city this size. The prior wealthy people of Pittsburgh: The Mellons, The Scaifes, and Carnegie left us some quality venues like the museum and the symphony. As you know coming from MI the weather here will be a real challenge in the winter months. The bridges need to be repaired and the PA Turnpike is on the path to bankruptcy! That rock music rules here whereas in TX we listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan. Pittsburgh used to be one of the friendliest towns. Like all small towns it is barely keeping it's head above water. Now Wexford is a nearby city and it is similar to Dallas, TX, progressive! Most all cities are becoming physically blended bc of the major chains McDonalds, Macys, and Walmart. The gentleman at 9:00 is an awesome artist. Pittsburgh lacks rhythm imho. I disagree with the lady at 9:57. Pittsburgh is not very diverse when it comes to people of color. Notice she mentioned the Polish and Italians "off the top". Blacks came to Whiskey Hollow to work on the railroads and the Italians ran them outta town. It is good to here an outsider say what is beautiful here. Every place has good food. Most all places would be nice if the people were more "honestly" welcoming and not looking at you as a "tourist" with a "tourist credit card". Everywhere you took your camara Blacks were not there out having fun, smh. Quite frankly my dad calls Pittsburgh "the white Atlanta", lol.
This was very insightful. I appreciate your well thought out feedback.
@@AntonDaniels he's telling the truth brotha and he summed it up very well. It's definitely is the "white" Atlanta🤣🤣. I just relocated to Texas and it was the best decision I ever made. It's more multicultural, I see more black individuals in higher positions and it's more opportunity. Sure it may have it's racial stigma that people up north always characterized Texas with. Unless you live in one of those unknown ghost towns, you will not see it in major cities as Pittsburgh. I'm glad you had fun though lol
@@draines9237 I Love Dallas/FW Metroplex. I am tolerating Pittsburgh:-)
Im currently in baltimore as im watching this on my way back home to da burgh on the greyhound lemme tell you this BLACK PEOPLE LETS THESE WHITE FOLKS HAVE THIS DUMBASS CITY go somewhere where its multicultural Im born n raised in the burgh..eastside...homewood...ONCE I GET THIS BREAD UP IM GETTING T.F OUTTA THIS RACIST ASS CITY
Blended cities because of major chains....I thought this was insightful.... someone doesn't like the Burgh...the rest....yeah ok..😄
Pittsburgh rocks, especially for young college kids
I agree
My hometown! Glad you enjoyed your visit!
Thanks love. It was awesome
Much love from Pittsburgh!
I was born and raised in the heart of Pittsburgh - Sq Hill. It is a beautiful city but those changes have happened over the past 10-15 years due to serious development plans. I left for nyc but I still have properties there and visit often. Thanks for the good report. BTW, the "highway" is called the 'parkway'. Pittsburgh Cultural Trust does a lot of great work making sure the arts community is alive and well. I feel that you missed a lot but hopefully there will be a next time.
Thanks, but I’ll definitely be back
Thanks for the video. Pittsburgh is an amazing place and the best pizza shops in the world!!
