This is really sad. I worked with a guy who used to live in Atlanta. He told me he used to go the club. One day he met this beautiful Black woman at the club. He went over to her and said how you doing? She said I can tell you want to get together with me. "Let's have dinner tomorrow night. They went to dinner. She told him I can tell you're interested in me" but I have something to tell you" He said what is it? "She said " I am infected" He said with what? she says Aids. The comments make me feel like this is the 1980s. A lot of beautiful people had or have HIV. Why do you think it spread so much, it doesn't have a particular look and can be asymptomatic for years.

You have to ask to be tested for STDs. As far as Doc know you could be a virgin. Always get tested for STDs specifically at least quarterly
I get you but HIV is not only transmitted through sexual intercourse, so they should test for it when every other test is negative.
Yes you do and that will ONLY test for HIV, Syph, Chlym, and Gon. They don't test for Herpes, Trich, etc. You have to get a full PANEL test for all that. It's almost a joke. When you go for your annual, they should provide the full panel and STANDARD, if they really wanted to make a diff.

I worked at a medical center. We had a young Blk female 28 years old admitted to the hospital. She was very sick, but didn't know what was wrong with her. She was told she had "Aids" and she went bonkers. They asked her "where do you think it could have came from? She said well I do go to the club a lot and have met a few guys. Man ive either been in long term relationships, including an engagement, or celibate for multiple years at a time. Like 3 years celibate, then went "crazy" (relatively speaking) and knocked down 7 chicks in 13 months, then celibate for 5 years. 35 years old next month and i've gotten tested for everything including HPV HSV 1 and 2, HIV, all clean.
But imagine being out in the streets enough to have to get tested 4x a year. Ive been tested 7 times in 35 years lol.
I will say the only reason why HSV1 and 2 got tested as well as HIV was for a pre surgical appointment along with echocardiogram.
Doctors dont routinely test for it unless you ask, because HSV, so many people have it, whether cold sores or actual HSV on genitals. Kinda concerning either way.

As someone who works in healthcare, she presented with classical/typical HIV symptoms! It’s a shame the ED doctors didn’t test her, although it is possible it would not have shown up on her test since the infection was early!
She didn’t tell them she had unprotected sex. Most docs are not gonna even think about STds unless they state something
I work in healthcare as well and if you go to urgent care, we are not looking for STDs unless they ask. Otherwise we look for Covid, Flu, strep or common cold.
ED doctors aren’t going to automatically assume HIV over cold/flu symptoms.
