The husband had access since he has his own keys for the truck but the truck is under the wife’s name."
0:23 Vehicle looks to have been rear-ended at some time. So whoever "fixed" it at one point, used a piece of wood behind the bumper support, and a lot of spray foam. The technician said this was quite the unusual one as the customer did not say if they bought it second-hand like this, or actually had another shop do this work or themselves. Maybe they bought the vehicle second-hand and somebody lied to them about the damages.
0:36 The technician said a connecting rod busted through the oil pan. He was very surprised it drove in but had quite a lack of power.
0:47 OEM connectors for speakers were cut and the customer tried connecting the wires with scotch tape.
1:07 The customer approved the repairs to repair the connector and ignition coil. Since the ignition coil and connector going to it were damaged, it caused the vehicle to misfire and run rough. Said they will be bringing it to a body shop to get the other damages repaired.
1:25 The technician did not mention the cause of the noise, but it sounds to be caused by the bearings in the rear differential so I added that to the video.
1:40 Quite an unusual day at this shop. The monkey was fine.
1:55 No extra info.
2:06 The technician had a good laugh since you could just open the rear door and then the front door to get in the vehicle. The shop told the customer what they needed and they declined repairs.
2:15 The technician said there were 2 different wheel lock keys needed, but they lost one. So they had to hammer off the other one as the customer does not know where the wheel lock key is.
2:25 Both rear tires are bald. The customer apparently just came back from a road trip in Scotland. Hopefully, they get new tires installed.
2:36 Quite the unusual one. The shop told the customer it's not safe to have seashells on the dash just in case they get into an accident, and also as sand could get stuck behind their brake or gas pedal and cause an issue while driving.
2:45 Vacuum line going to the brake booster was chewed by a rodent.
The customer's neighbor was the one who checked the brake fluid.
3:03 The technician said: "Being that it's owned by a logging company, and knowing how most of the logging companies are in the area, wouldn't surprise me if it was a former customer that was pissed because they went in and clearcut an area and took a bunch of trees that they weren't supposed to."

Was not disappointed
A lot of the sound effects in Star Wars came from a mix of real world sounds of motors or cars. Some with unique mechanical issues
It genuinely amazes me that people cannot figure out that something might be wrong with their car, even when it's held together by hopes and dreams, yet when it comes to describing weird noises their car is making, they are always spot on.

It amazes me when fellow car guys can’t understand that not everyone knows what we know about cars. Some people even kinda dislike cars. It’s up to us to help them with car things, not be a dick about it

I used to have a friend that had 7 German Shepards at her house. My tires had bite marks on the sidewalls from the dogs biting at the tires when I drove in.

that last one with the dog brings back very fond memories. back in the 80's our family owned a machine shop. I brought my dog to work every day. as soon as she heard anyone using the air hose she'd run to them and try to catch the air just like this one did.

0:37 - that's impressive that it chucked a rod through the pan and was not only still running, but drove in like that.
That's why I never believed those old ads where they put some additive in a motor and then drained the oil and ran it without oil to prove how much the additive helped. Any motor will run without oil, and for a lot longer than you think. I've seen them go for long drives and return and still be running and not noisy at all with no oil.

put some PTFE additive in the oil for my central heat blower's motor bearings, advertised as run with an empty oil pan, etc, 1988. finally started screaming in 2014. added some more, it'll likely outlive me. ptfe is now illegal most places. damn good product, tho.

The wiring ones always crack me up, It takes a special sort of intelligence to bolt your new speakers in the door without connecting any wires, then complain that the volume seems low.😆😆🤣
Probably thought they were Bluetooth speakers.
He mentioned in the video description that the wire was originally held together with tape. Most likely it was only the driver's door speaker that came loose. It probably got yanked by the window being rolled down.

Unless they show the repair order with the description like the video says, I would call b.s. on most of them. I think the techs might be the ones stating these as "customer says".
I dont know. What does it sound like sounds like one of the first few questions a mechanic would ask.

Maybe it was only the front lock which was inop? But still there was the easily removable link in the chain anyways just to be sure lol! 🙂
It's more of a deterrent than an actual effective locking system.
Since the way the theft works, is the thief nonchalantly walks up to a car and opens the door. So anyone in the area would assume they own the car as they're not breaking in.
Having the chain and the padlock would make it seem more suspicious if they're not unlocking the padlock to gain access to the vehicle. Even more so if they're doing things like removing links from the chain... At that point they may as well just break the window to get in which is equally effective irregardless of the chains...

I worked at a motorcycle dealer in Japan. We had the chickens from the temple next do wander in a couple times, and one time this giant 12" turtle just started walking across the shop. We had no idea where that thing came from. We were on a major road.

Hmm, that just might work for the dumber thieves.
Maybe one door locks but the other doesn't. Myself and a neighbour have had that issue. I was actually okay with it because the vehicle electronics believed the door was locked so if you opened it, the horn/alarm would go off.
my only thought is that the front one is the only one that doesn't lock, so the back is used to hold it from opening all the way. still not foolproof by anymeans.

Okay, you’re on to something there. Just rewatched that portion of the video and he said the customer had broken door locks, which of course all four doors have locks, but only the front two have keyed locks. So as you indicated, maybe it’s just the front door lock that doesn’t work.

It's utterly insane that the cost to replace a few windows, windshield, and the head/tail lights is MORE than that entire vehicle is worth.
A lot of bodywork too. And for all we know he also put sugar in the gas tank etc.
It's a lot of time consuming body work. It's pretty much all the body stuff you'd get in a rollover, but without the frame and suspension damage.
The truck will go to auction and someone will buy it for a repair.

The write-off surprised me too. I'm not seeing much body work. A run to the junk yard, an new windshield, and someone has a nice running truck.
It also depends on the availability of parts. I talked to somebody the other day that has their vehicle written off as it would take at least 11 months for a new bumper and fender.

Looks like the sand was carefully placed with the valve cover off. Perfectly leveled with none on the rockers. Pouring it into the oil fill hole wouldn't result in this.

I will always leave a like. I like the interesting things you post. It never ceases to amaze me how many ways automobiles can fail and how so many owners are so neglectful, and abusive to their investment. I have a 23 year old Buick with over 218000 miles that still runs like a top. Surprising what regular maintenance can do along with respecting your ride, and fixing the little things as needed.
Same with my 25 year old Jeep XJ.

There were definitely a couple pissed of people to do that kind of damage.
What is so sad about the speaker part is that they sell adaptors for every car. Some websites tell what speakers will fit, what parts are needed and speaker wire clips so you don't have to cut or mod anything. A lot place will install your amp at decent price that includes fuses, wiring and guarantee the install for life...

When I was a kid we could only afford very used cars. (Wish I still had some of them). I learned early on how to change oil and look for obvious issues. It’s sometimes depressing to see so many idiots treat expensive cars like a disposable item, but at least it’s also funny, and sometimes comes with free pet bunnies, kittens, or an incredible soundtrack!
In the late 80's early 90's, we bought cars for $25 from the side of old ladies houses that ran awesome and might need a battery. 70's GM vehicles with 350's, super low mileage, and clean. What I would give to have one of those Montes or Impalas today. But yes, my first car, I couldn't leave the driveway until I learned how to change the oil and check all of the fluids and other stuff.

@@peterf.229 so my thinking was if you were trying to break nd you got the first door unlocked and then reached inside and got the second door unlocked you can open both at the same time also those type of padlocks can be either shimmed or picked very easily

I can't stop watching your videos. I honetly feel lucky to be one of those people that can fix anything the correct way.
One evening back before cell phones my buddy and I were in my 79 Ramcharger with 40 inch Bias ply GroundHawgs. We were about 18 miles from civilization on logging roads. As we were bouncing through a creek I lost steering. The frame cracked and pulled the steering box away from the column and the steering shift fell out of a coupler. I had to figure out a way to lengthen the strering shaft. I took two long bolts out of the flex fan spacer that was about 4 inches thick. I took the bolts out of the wrag joint and ran the long bolts from the fan through some 1/4 inch deep sockets effectively making the steering shaft about 3 inches longer. It worked great and we didn't have to spend the night in the woods.

Ahhh, sand in the engine. Reminds me of my youth. Many of us had our cars broken into and parts stolen over a period of time. Cops caught the guy, but he was let off on a bond. His car was found dumped in bush land. Every window smashed, interior trim all cut up, and the bonnet bent back over the windscreen. The oil cap was missing, there was a house brick on the accelerator, and you could see dirt all over the rocker cover around the filler hole. Looking around you could see where the person(s) who dumped the car had scraped up handfuls of sandy dirt to drop into the oil fill hole. That car ended up in a local junkyard. I have always wondered if the sand killed it, or the full throttle (carby, so no limiter) killed it. I was just happy to see the karma. He annoyed the wrong people!
