If you’re having trouble like everyone seems to be, and I was, it’s probably because the lock isn’t orientated right and that part is at the end of the video under factory reset and that renders everything else useless, bad choice to part it at the end. You won’t be able to lock the door or test any old or new codes if it’s not orientated right. Best bet here is to factory reset, reorientate, set new master code, then set new user codes.
ALWAYS make sure you orientate the lock for the correct side first. This will save a world of headaches. Every comment with issues on here can be solved if you do that first. Set up is flawless after that. If something screws up in the middle, make sure to reset it with the button on the back before moving forward again.
One suggestion is punch numbers slowly. The same steps that work can fail if pressed to fast and vice versa the same steps that previously failed may work if you take a breath between each number pushed. Careful, too slow as in 5 seconds between button pushes will also fair as a protective measure aa the systen will assume that slow pushers are criminals who cant make up their mind.
Thank you so much I finally got it to work thanks to your video. With the possible theft scare from a falling out with a friend who has a family history with sticky fingers and the friend knew the code we are now feeling safe again. Thank you.
hi, this video rocked! one question. I did the auto lock for 10 seconds but cant figure out how to now change it to the max of 50 sec. I tried the steps over and over... still locks in 10 seconds. can you put the exact steps, meaning do i have to CLEAR out the 10 seconds somehow?
Hello. I have programmed three of these units successfully with zero issue. However, I have one particular lock that does not allow for additional programming features like auto-lock. Every attempt, I get three red beeps. None of the other locks gave me this issue. I am 100% doing what is in the video. Any suggestions?

Everything seems to work until I try locking the door and then it always beeps three times and flashes red. I've tried going through this 10 times with no luck.

After programming the code and the lock accepting it, why does it not work? It will lock but not unlock. Why? I've reset the unit a couple of times but to no avail. How do you fix this? Please help!
Installing the lock was easy - just took out the old and put in the new. However, programming the lock was not the easiest. It just wouldn't program and gave me the 3 beeps. I reread the instruction - unconnected the cable and then reset. Finally reconnected the cable and got the lock programmed successfully. Seems like that was the missing step for me. My recommendation for Kwikset is to highlight that (the disconnect) in the menu.
Quick question so I have my code and set up , I put my code an it locks but to unlock I press the lock button and it unlocks why is that shouldn’t I have to put the code to unlock again ?
Hi Fernando - Here to help! To unlock the Powerbolt 2, you must enter the user code and the lock button. To lock it, you only need to press the lock button. It sounds like your lock is working in reverse. To fix this, please check the installation, making sure that the latch was retracted and reset the door direction: kwik.st/3gRt9vh Thanks ~ Kwikset Social
Hi and here to help! To get the Powerbolt 2 programmed successfully, open the door and unlock the deadbolt. Reset your lock and complete the door direction set up in step # 6 before moving on to the programming instructions in step # 8 of the installation guide. Within section 8, follow steps A, B, and C in sequential order. kwik.st/3v34eLH For one-on-one troubleshooting assistance, please call our Support Team at 1-800-327-LOCK (5625). Like many on here I was frustrated by following the directions over and over again and it failing to function properly. I installed in 15 minutes and spent over an hour trying to program. Here is the solution! The MAIN issue I think that many of us are having is differentiating between a MASTER CODE and a USER CODE. The Master Code is used to program features, NOT to open the door. After you've programed the Master Code, set up a User Code for yourself and try that out. It worked immediately. This video is not very good, I learned this from TOOLALOT
mikeperez04 - Thank you! That failure to highlight the distinction between those terms is so typical. The techies who devise these gizmos know them too well, forgetting that we are coming new to all this and need things *spelled out* and *highlighted* and *emphasized* to the tiniest detail!
I am working with a lock that was installed by the previous owner of my house. Seems I have to get rid of his user code in order to enter mine, but to do so, I have to enter *his* code - which I don't know! Help! Aiuta! Hilfe! Aux secours!
Followed the steps on adding a user code and when we type in the code afterwards it still beeps red 3 times and won’t unlock our door.

You're AWESOME!! thanks
This was 100% the problem. Worked perfectly afterward.
My thoughts exactly, except lock didn't re-orientate until after I pulled batteries. Go figure.
Thank you so much lol
this is the answer everyone

Kwikset do you guys have call back service! Every time i call i get put on hold for longer than anticipated by the recording
I am having a hard time programming the lock, it says it's been programmed, then it falls to work. super frustrating.
I am having the same issue. Did you solve yours? What did you do?
Did you make it learn if it’s a left or right door?
Yes I did. After several tries got frustrated and returned the unit.

Is there a way to buy a back-up key for the Kwikset Powerbolt 2 lock system?
