A license peace of crap!

This smarkey system is really neat. I bought a separate smartkey deadbolt and a keyed door handle two years ago for a garage to home entry door. I finally rekeyed it today so that I only need 1 key and it worked perfectly. Recently bought a keyless entry lock for the side garage entry door and Ill be rekeying the side gate door.

How do you pull the lock out manually?

Great video! He should have noted the deadbolt has an arrow that points up. Took me an hour to figure that part out.

so what should i do, if it’s not automatically learning retract and extend? i’ve reset the use code multiple times. should the lock be out or in when creating the code?

Why would you tell me to install the “security screw” before I installed the battery???

The turn piece doesn't want to say vertical. It stays at a 45 deg angle.

why the light is orange not red and green ?

I use these on my rentals and one thing I've learned when setting the new key is to go back and forth multiple times. I've had a few times where the tumbler wasn't set 100%. Ended up having to take it apart to do the tumbler reset

You have it wrong ,it’s 90 degrees clockwise and then 180 degrees anti clockwise

If it wont let you put a program code in, make sure you put the detect left/right hand door installstion FIRST

My smart key lock came misprogrammed right out of the box. This helped alot. Thank you!

What happens if it flashes red while programming? Reset doesn't fix.

If you can't program a code, take the lock apart. Ext the deadbolt, then put it back together.

My cylinder adapter is worn and won’t turn the shaft. The cylinder just turns 360° and won’t actuate the lock. The shaft engagement teeth also appear to be worn. Perhaps the metals used are too soft.

This man is incredible. I haven't bought a lock yet but I may buy a Kwik set just because of him

mine works when the key is installed and NOT in the lock or removable position, when the key turned and removed the motor will try to move the deadbolt but cannot move it. The key to be removed is in the lock(deadbolt out) position and manually you cannot move the inside lever.

I moved and took my lock with me I’ve been trying to use my code for an hour now should I go buy a different one

How far do you turn the interior latch before you hear the click?

I installed this lock last week before I went out of town. I come home and my code worked after I entered it several times. I locked my door this morning this evening my code does not work I’ve tried over and over again. I can not get inside and the keys are locked inside. What do I do?

What’s the difference between the red cradle and black cradle?

After 3 hours of installing and re-installing, still not having any luck. I've followed ever single step carefully, made sure everything is perfectly aligned and the bolt moves freely. But the thing still won't program. At one point, I had the code working but it was the opposite of what it should be. So I used the door rehanding code. That failed. So I did a factory reset and can't get past programming a code. Might be time to return it to the store. Ugh. So frustrating.

I find it stupid. How hard for robbers to easily break in without having to break in because they use this re-key thing.

So simple and instructional video was made to be all skill level/audience accesssible. Thank you for breaking down what i once considered highly mechanical and out of my ability to take on myself.

Doesn't work

Just installed this at 1am on a thursday and the last 2 screws you install cannot be too tight. You get it just barely tight, the lock will move just a hair when you push on it. But thats how it needs to be in order to work. The last 2 screws held me up for over an hour😭

If you are going to compete with other brands improve the bolt that comes with your deadbolts. They are currently so weak. As a locksmith I could never sell Kwikset as a grade 1 or 2.

I just installed this lock and it works fine if the key is inserted but if I take the key out it won't work. The key only comes out in the locked position

With mine the little flat key that goes through the deadbolt in the center isn't connected and it won't twist do I have to just glue it in there or how do I get it to stay

I had rekeyed three of four locks, when the last cylinder didn't rekey correctly. Neither the supplied key nor the one I was attempting to rekey to would work, the lock would not respond to the attempts to find the pin settings, and the smart key tool would not insert either. Using the phone number in the video, I made the call and was on the phone less than 6 minutes 20 seconds . . . and had an email from Kwikset confirming that a new cylinder was on its way to me. Amazing customer support!! A++++++ A minor incovenience, but glad to know there's a company that actually cares about its customers and its reps are empowered to solve challenges on the spot.
