Looking forward to hearing all your thoughts on this one. I still wish they brought the Sport Line trim to the US. The blacked out interior, smaller 19" wheels and spoiler would be perfect... Honda does the interior so well on the Type R. The shift knob and steering wheel are absolutely gorgeous.
They look good but don’t feel good
Front looks great to mee, outside, baz back is teriblle
Steering wheel doesn’t look good IMO. Three spoke all day. Look at the old type r cars on how to do wheels
The red is so ugly its way over done
@@Jiggy609 they did that because thats a heritage thing like the old type r
Engineers need to stop with artificial noise being pumped in through speakers. So stupid! Just make the car sound naturally good
you cant with turbo engines
@@rawjor that’s just not true
It’s noise and pollution regulations that ruin cars sound.
Also modern sound insulation makes it difficult to hear that sound
@@user-ns3si7hw1t Yup, ruins it for everyone except the everyone who have to listen to your hooning ass drive by at 3am.
“Losing my phone here, too much acceleration.” Man, if I had a nickel for every time I’ve had to fish my phone out from under my seat when I park for that very reason.
😂😂
Excellent review! Just picked up a 2020 Type R in Sonic Gray Pearl a couple of days ago and I'm loving every mile in it!
how has the car been? Any issues with it so far?
@@winds1010 I had a check engine light related to the evap system, but everything was covered under warranty. Other than that, no issues and it's been a blast! I just wish my daily commute was more exciting!
Watching your glowing reviews for the Type R have helped me in deciding to pull the trigger on a '21 Boost Blue. I'll be taking delivery around the end of the month. Thank you for providing your insight!
Definitely worth it! I waited almost 6 months and I can say its worth the wait.
Dude, very professional POV review--the sponsor-shout out was also a nice touch. I want one of these so bad; felt as though I was driving the car/living vicariously through you, my good-man! Well done!
Buddy good to see again and i really love this car this 2020 Honda Civic Tyre R one of my fav car.
Picked up my 2020 Type R about a month ago, i’m in love with it!
Gorgeous! Congrats!
My boys engine damage the 4 piston twice. Dealer said the rain getting in through the hood it's what's causing the damage. Good luck wit yours. O he's not the only one with that problem.✌🏽
@@stateofmind4341 lol and fanboys always say its so undestructable
@@danielr.8345 Good car though. If we had the euro Verizon i would have got one. Change exuast and 350 wheel and 350 torque

Was waiting for your review on the 2020 🔥 Thanks Topher!! Can’t wait to get this in a couple of months
Subbed simply because you put a time stamp on the paid promotion, thanks my guy!
You must really love doing reviews on this Type R. You're one of the reasons why I went out and bought a Sonic Grey Pearl. Lots of fun for the past month and only 300 miles driven so far.
Dude he's the exact reason I got my SGP type R as well!
Drove 1000miles in 2weeks... I always want to take the car out for a drive because it makes me smile every time! Such a great car
I drive a turbocharger Veloster on my channel
Same here! Drove it from TX to CA. Up to 25k markup in CA sheeesh
I was thinking about trading her in after almost 2 years but after watching your video all over again, I think I'm keeping her. I've only got 2,000 miles on it.
This is a one of a kind car and soon to be a piece of history in its owners hands.
Love the foot clap before getting in , shows you appreciate your buy.
Just get an exhaust if you can’t hear the car. I think it sounds stupid
For the money, you shouldn't have to.
@@EminentLine I agree, although I would start with deleting the resonator. Try to save some money maybe the solution?
IMO if the driver can't distinguish between the real exhaust sound and the sound from the speakers, then he doesn't need to hear it in the first place
but I will let it slide if I can toggle it off
@@EminentLine exactly thats literally the only knock i give the type r. Beautiful, fun to drive, made well, but your overpaying for what it offers.
@@EminentLine Cuz dealerships are doing 15K marke ups. So a 35K car turn into 50k out the door. Might as well buy a v8 at that point.
It's good to see car makers making different designs. Everyone says they are bored of the same new designs then hates it when someone does something different
I can't wait to drive this car as an adult.
I hope your parents are rich
@@V1ralB1ack the car isn’t worth much I’m pretty sure it’s like 30,000
The lost it’s 38k base msrp but with options and dealer mark ups it can easily go up to 45k.
@@caglioso still not that much that petty good for what the car is
The lost I agree I think it’s still a good value anything close to 40k
That colour is so "GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!" 😬
Good morning papa smurf
I love it also the type of person to drop 40k on a dumb color
@@a.j.stafford5857 Best color, shit take, also unpopular opinion lmao
Amazing color
I think the blue looks stunning, but i feel like that is the type of colour that will start being annoying after a few months...
I can literally feel the pull just by watching 😂

"Honda implements engine noise through the speakers"
Me driving my EK with a 3" exhaust at 3am
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Let me play the sound of my people... lol
This was literally me and my boys all the time.
I always got noise complaints sent to my parents house LOL
EP3 is what I’m gonna get
3” exhaust on my S2000 makes people mad. lol. Had the local track tell me it was too loud to race when I was Catless. They still want me to put a turn down tip on it too. Haha
That color is definitely catchy and great to look at. There is a new color on the 21 Lexus IS just like that called "Grecian Water" and it also look great. This car is fun and quirky and as Chris said the power is effortless! Unfortunately ever dealer stay marking them up thousands of dollars deterring people to buy.
Boost blue is nitrous blue after the copy right expired don’t @ me
Saving up to get an older Honda Civic or accord should be reaching my goals soon
Nice!
Nice bro hope you get one soon
I got a 95 accord for 1200$ 70K miles
U go dude
@@saucon751 whoa can u send me how much it will coast to get it
This will always be my dream car. Thanks Topher👍👍
"and that was in comfort mode" flex on em son
I was watching your type R videos before I had one. Here I am still watching as one sits in my driveway.
I got the same boosted blue also and the im not even a honda guy
Been looking forward to this video since I saw the Type R on your Instagram, my favorite car reviewed by my favorite car reviewer :)
I need more money 😭😭😭
You are the reason I click my feet to knock off dirt every single time I get in any car
I did that since i started driving. When i saw him do it too, i was like oh im not the only one
These videos are really relaxing for some reason
Never stop driving this car I will for ever watch these type r videos
The interior is absolutely stunning.
I love your reviews keep the good work up
Just ordered mine and I wanna cry I'm so happy.
Did you order online through a honda dealer or did you have to call the dealer? Did you have to pay a mark up?
After watching your review on the 2019 Accord, I bought a 2019 Accord. After watching your review on the 2020 Type R, I bought a 2021 Type R. Love the vids man, great car reviews
I love how he taps his shoes😂
I live in Florida and there is sand everywhere so I do this every time I get in my Mazda 6t 😂 my friends pick on me about it
The active sound control actually does not sound to bad in this type R. The the Civic Si on the other hand sounded horrible....
I have one and you eventually get used to it
It really breaks my heart you didn’t push this beauty past 90
U can’t really do 90+ on CZcams on public roads
Basically filming yourself doing a crime. Best to keep a good profile
But he’s driving in kph 😉
@@bat1sta980 no he’s not 😂🤦🏾♂️
The fantom wallet and the touchguard look amazing!
The Honda Civic type r is a fine peace of art
Got this car, it’s REALLY awesome... the engine just keeps on pushing... The car STICKS on the ground,I laughed like a crazy person many times while driving.
Edit: $5000 brembo brake BITES like crazy. I took it on a road trip and as someone who’s 6’1, I was able to stretch out completely(took a 5hr nap)
I’ve been obsessing over this car for so long
I’ve been saving up for it for almost 3 years now
its well worth it i have the 2019 as a daily, good fun always and seems to never get old
It’s the perfect car in every aspect IMO
@@jeffreydejong9180 except for its ticking engine, Tonka toy body panels, and fake sound...

man you reviews are always great.
i like your style! good job.
i'm planning to buy one for an out of town project. black is the only color for me because it hides the fake black vents.
Just bought a Crystal Black Pearl 2020 CTR on Sunday 😬
Black looks so clean on the CTR, great choice.
Best color in my opinion. So jealous my guy!
Congrats
Congratulations Andrew
Welcome to the Type R family
My CTR is in the shop for PPF. I miss it so I'm watching Topher's POVs lol.
Great review! The 2020 Civic brings a lot to the table!
Oh I early I love your videos so much man 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Old video now but this video helped me decide on a boost blue ctr. It looks so damn good in person and am always excited to get in this car! Thank you Topher!!
Boost blue is the best CTR color. It makes the car!
Amazing Review Hope ican get one in the Near future
I see your fast growing channel. bravo bro
Great video man, also nice meeting you today at the gas station :)
Thanks Gautham, glad you said hello! The GT350R will be going up soon 👍
Really love this new shift knob. looks better than the round one imo.
My only complaint about this car is the 3000 RPM in sixth gear at 80mph, I think 6th gear should be tuned like the SI's where it's very tall to keep the drone down. But besides that WOW what an amazing car!! I'm turning 22 soon, I really hope I can save up to buy one of these cars in the next 5 years.
That looks amazing! Solid analysis
Loved the video man 🔥🔥❤️
nice having some sound system test
Got my boost blue pearl 2020 type r about 6 months ago now. Totally love it. That said if you don’t plan on taking to a track don’t waste your money ms as well get a loaded si. I had a 2018 before this they are nice and pretty fast too but nothing like the type r. This car is a track focused and tuned car that can live just fine in most city day to day driving . It’s not what it’s designed for though . I had the chance a couple of months ago to use mine on an amazing track here in the Okanagan valley called area 27. Wow 😮 let me tell you the difference between ripping around on lonely back roads and or trying to race the Subaru that pulled up beside you at a light and driving this car wide open on a track is black and white literally. You quickly learn what this car can do really well and what it’s just ok at . Striaght line performance it’s pretty good but where it shows shines are rumple to rumple get my drift ! No pun. I was hitting speeds nodding towards 200k and tossing it into corners 130 k pulling through those corners like it was literally glued to the road. Watch Chris Harris Drive when he takes on a 500hp plus new Lexus ( stig at the wheel) at the track and you’ll see he too agrees with me on the superior handling this new Civic has over nearly all the FWD class hot hatch competition . Like the GTI, Hyundai Type N velsoter , Audi rs3 , etc... The 2020 civic type r still holds the front wheel drive record at the Nurburgring ring at 7:43 sec. that says a lot believe me . Yes there are some really cool features I don’t use them but someone might ! It comes totally loaded no options are available . The Ford Focus rs is the same though and it comes with 18 inch winter tire package I thought was cool . I also owned the RS and was one of the first to get one here in BC. I loved it too except a few issues the suspension sucked like a 3/4 ton truck and the passenger seat didn’t adjust up or down my son ,literally could not sit in the car. They had issues with the motor as well so I am glad I sold it. Thanks for the review but next time take it to the track drive it there believe me it’s loud enough! My only compliant of the new type r is those damn sticjky tires I liked the Michelin pro pilot cup 2 tires better myself they were stock on my RS and also good enough for a Porsche 911 GT 3 RS so ? These continental tires are so sticky that they pick up little stones every where u drive done times they toss those little stones into your brakes . Has happened to me 4 or 5 times now and Jesus what a squeal coming from the from wheels . Drive backwards and slam the brakes a few times and they are ok again but this does occur a lot! I personally hated the rev matching I like to double clutch myself and take care of that especially at the track because I also use engine braking to set up for gear and slow for corner . If you love over reving the motor leave it on. I had rev matching in my AMG E63 and that worked awesome with the paddles . Just tends to over do it a bunch in this car . On track at least area 27 here it’s about 5 km long with 14 corners I would use mostly 2 , 3 rd and 4th revs keep in the sweet spot 3500 to 4500 and whistle all the way up to about 6000 to 6500 . After that it’s a waste .
Morale of this long tail is I totally love this car can’t wait to get back to our track with it ! Until then ya it’s a fun family car with a firm ride . Ps , I also totally love those seats, and that steering wheel doesn’t wear well BTW . My 10 and 4 are totally smooth now . Minor in my mind ! I get incredible mileage actually even including a full day of tracking used 2 full tanks there , my average over 8,000 km or 5000 miles is 9.6 litres per hundred . 9 is 30 mpg in imperial . On a Hwy trip to Kelowna and back I average about 6.3 or so plus or minus a bit. 7.1 to Vancouver and back 1000km and 4 mountain passes from sea level up over 7000 feet. Not mentioned is my average speed not 90 lets just say! Kph omg course. Our posted limit is 120 anyways , it’s about 75 mph aprox. I was surprised 😮 I drove all the way to Vancouver 460km and had about 1/4 tank left . Same in my way back. I only use 91 and on track 94 octane .
Your video offers probably the greatest comparison across all the car your selected. I am comparing back to back the wind noise in this vs the GTI. Both from your video, in the same highway segment at the same speed. Great Great content.
which is a quieter cabin? doesn't it depend on video audio gain and volume too?
@@antonroux6737 With the same mic, same setup, same computer, and the same speaker and volume. I think the comparison is pretty fair. Especially he is driving on almost the same route for all the test drives.
@@xuhan4682 totally agree that all things being equal it would be a fair comparison, but I'm not sure we know that all things are equal. For example, having done some video editing myself, I have sometimes adjusted the audio gain for particular footage. You should ask him if everything was equal or not, then you will know for sure!!!
didn't know about that rear "vent" change to make it deeper. that actually makes a big difference
Had a '02 Jetta that I liked but was costing me more money than what it was worth. When I got my job at a dairy plant I went out and bought a 08' Civic because one the Jetta was costing me too much and two I like how good Honda makes their vehicles and they are marketed as being quite reliable. Buying the 2008 Civic was a good purchase. The car was in good shape for the age and the powertrain was expected at this price point-still like new. It was great and extremely reliable. Literally the only shop work was oil changes and suspension that I just out of the blue wanted to be done just because. In 2018 I was driving my car in a snow storm to get to work at 9pm and ended up smashing into a tree. I was surprised how well the car took the blow. I was doing 60 MPH and when I hit the tree it was like nothing and was expecting a lot worst. I like Honda and under consideration will look into their options for a new car. They are good value and they make great reliable cars. After losing my '08 Honda I went and bought a '14 Civic. Their cars and especially their engines are awesome. I highly prefer Honda as a good company as they are extremely reliable but also safe to use.
Can't find any 2020 or even a `21 without heavy dealer markups right now it seems with production having been interrupted.
Sounds nice! And looks so fun to drive.. I want one
boost blue looks good in your video , i got the champ white 2020, 2021 ctrs are out now though. no changes.

good review. I love my PMM 20 type r, it does heatsoak really bad though. All I really want to do to it is cooling mods and wheels.
Just drove in my cousins type R yesterday. Quick little compact! Not bad at all.
I’m happy to be looking at a 2014 si coupe :D
Hey man, very good video!
Can you let me know what setting have you used on your GoPro? The image is just perfect 👌
This was a surprisingly well put together video. Wish I won the lottery though
CW 2021 here. Love it so so so so so so so so much
I have a 2014 civic si right now but this is the car I’m planning on getting next. Hopefully within the next year or so
i think they did a better on job on the active noise in the Type R than the Si. I think we can all agree on it.
Does the new 2020 model have Vtec or have have they stopped now i own a 2015 Honda Civic Type R and it has Vtec but i want to upgraded so what new Model Type R has Vtec ?
The next generation ultra electro magnetic graphics card! Great video!
Nice POV! When will you drive a 2021 Honda City RS Sedan?
Now that you’ve driven the DCT Veloster N, which do you think you’d prefer to own? I’m between those two and the future gen Type R for the more subdued styling, but am highly considering the current gen.

You are the reason I bought a 21. If you would buy one that was enough to put me over. Wish it had heated seats but thats an easy fix. That you for doing this review!
this car doesn't need heated seats. you get on it enough and the cabin gets warm.
If only your audio would be better to get a better feel of the engine sound. I don't know how Tedward does it, but his audio is so much better...
Hello, I have a question. I know that car is awesome but how 3 people can fit in the backseat in the car if it has 2 cups in the middle?
Looking forward to your review of the updated 2021 Veloster N! Hopefully soon..? ;)
Going Along with 4 cylinders, you should get into a CLA 45 AMG. It is an amazing drive
This car never fails to put a smile on my face. What a Masterpiece 😎
In UK I have had fitted a Honda space saver spare wheel to my FK8 & it does not significantly reduce the trunk volume but it was expensive at about £500.
Do you prefer the CTR over the ND2 Miata?
i freaking LOVEEEE that boost blue!
Haven't had a chance to drive the new one but I've always felt the Civic has the best on center steering feel in the segment which will come in handy with how much power this new one sends to the front wheels.
That on center feel is amazing on the highway. No constant micro corrections needed.
No cap I’m getting this car this year no doubt in white or black probably white
Is it still difficult to launch tho ctr?? And is there any gear problems with your experience?
This video makes me desperately want to get one!! Currently have a 17 sentra sr that's not even half way paid off, gonna do some research on an insurance quote, see how my equity is, and then look into loans. Depending how all those numbers look I'll decide if I'll shoot my shot 😂🙏
compare a GT86 like u had before which one is more fun ?
Got mine on Sunday, boost blue pearl touring 😁😁😁😁
