My bottle of Suze has been there longer than anything because it is not easy to use,
needed this vid!
Where has Suze been all my life .. it checks all the boxes! 😉 Cheers! 🥃
I've never heard of a glass referred to as a "Nick and Nora". Love it!
This was a great idea for an episode. I have Suze, but I don't use it very often, so I must be the target audience. The White Negroni Daiquiri appeals to me the most.
Love this video concept. Your white negroni is how I discovered suze and it's been such a hit with my friends. Please consider making more videos with recipes focused on lesser known/used spirits!
amazing! would love to see a video like this for ramazzotti rosato and white port 😊
Really enjoy video format like this one, longer and introduce a couple of drinks! Thanks cara!
Don't know why I only found this video yesterday, but I made a Nester's Refresher this evening and it was fantastic. Really bright and tasty. Having come from Porto not that long ago, and being completely underwhelmed by the Porto Tonico, this drink was a lovely way to use port (and Suze.) Thank you
Cara Kitten 🐈⬛ you always have great drinks 🥤 Thanks!! 🎃
Cara these are really wonderful, creative, exciting cocktails to try with Suze!! I love these selections and I am really eager to try each one!! Terrific video!! Thanks so much!! Cheers!! 🙂
When life gives you lemons, use them to check the balance of the universe. 😁👍
The white negroni x daquiri mashup looks delish, will definitely try it out when summer comes around to the northern hemisphere again. How about an episode that's all about mashup recipes?
Great idea!
Cara... I have the bottle for your next installment of this series... Strega! I'm especially curious to see if there's a drink w/ that and either bourbon or bianco vermouth (or both, if it's possible.)
These sound amazing, but I NEED that glass you used for the Refresher!
I think that one is Rona glassware!

Thanks so much-can’t wait to try these Cara!
Hi again Cara, I have made this to your spec. It is a lovely drink! I will make the others in coming days. Thanks for posting these Suze specials. Nick from York
So glad you enjoyed it!
Bottle I have that are in need of some love:
- Cynar
- Mahia (Nahmias et Fils) Moroccan Fig Spirit
- Amaro Nonino
- Amaro Montenegro
- Galliano
- Strega
- Ancho Reyes (red and verde both)
- Pimms no 1 (other than a Pimm’s cup)
- Aquavit
To be fair… I haven’t really gone looking for inspiration for these… but would be oh so pleased to find a little extrinsic inspiration in my notifications one day
There’s a few covered in here for the amari 😃

Very much enjoyed the video with so many of my favorite bottles. Especially pleased to see yellow chartreuse make an appearance, I would love a video featuring a few more cocktails which also feature this ingredient!
Glad you liked the Nester's Refresher! Cheers
It’s so great!! Thank you for the recipe haha. Cheers!
Great vid share, Cara Thanks
Love those recipes! I'm definitly going to try them. I have a bottle of Liquore Strega that I've been trying to work around. May be you can find some ideas!
Great video! I realised that my Suze hadn’t had much love the other day and found The Haystack cocktail (bourbon, Suze, apricot liqueur and lemon) was very good.
I’d like an episode on cherry hering please I bought for sing sling and only tried with a blood and sand so far
The White Negroni Daiquiri is incredible. It’s a more refined Corpse Reviver #2. I have a bottle of Cynar (love the Artichoke Hold!), would appreciate some additional cocktail recommendations.
Hi Cara, all 3 recipes noted.
I have had my Suze bottle since mid 2020 and these drinks will all be tried over coming days, except the one with white port. (I only have a tawny port).
I will make the yellow cactus flower now. Nick from York
I've been making the white negroni for quite a while now from your recipe, it's one of our favorites. And the White negroni daquiri was a nice surprise as well. Suze works well in the Underdog too. Speaking of which, Drambuie has proven to spawn a whole range of delicious cocktails, including a margarita variant and a Hootenanny which is made with Belgian white beer.
all looks delicious. thanks for the recipes. Suze is in my buy list for april :) home bar needs a budget and lots of restrains.
using the same ice is okay for me, when shaking 40+ drinks for my friends, I need 5-6 kg of ice. I can¨t fit more in my freezer.
Totally fair!
Hi Cara, greetings from Milan! I’m a fan of white negroni, so always have both Suze and Lillet blanc close by in the cooler. These new additions look fantastic and will certainly try one tonight. Thanks! On a different subject, just wondering why the nice round clock, next to the Belvedere vodka isn’t working…😅😅😅 Cheers and keep up the excellent inspirational vids!
Look at the time. “ It’s 5 o’clock somewhere” means you can start boozing whenever and wherever you are in the world!
Exactly haha!
I make a gin martini variation with Suze.
2.5 oz Old Tom Gin
.5 oz Blanco Vermouth
.5 oz Suze
2 dashes orange bitters
lemon peel garnish
These sound great, but much more on the summer side. Any suggestions for something on the winter side of the spectrum? Thanks
Hmm unfortunately Suze does tend to work with lighter spirits because of the floral nature of it, but I’ll have a think…
You could do a whole channel on Amaro cocktails and I would not be sad.
Some video suggestions for Licor 43 or creme de violette would be great! I am not sure if it is available in Australia yet, but there is also a fairly new Mexican corn liqueur called Nixta. It would be super cool if you could get your hands on it and see what cocktails it would go well in.
Have you seen this one yet?

@@BehindtheBar I have! And it was delicious! I should've specified "other cocktails outside of what you've already done" 😅 I watch all the vids on your channel and try out a lot of the recipes.
💛💜
Yes this is what we need ! I bought it for the white negroni and it's not the greatest with soda water....
Does the daquiri have hope as a frozen drink
Yeah you would just need to add more sugar I’d say 😊
Just curious to know if the clock behind the bar has stopped working or is it just a prop. The drinks are amazing as usual.
It’s always 5pm somewhere 😉
I have had the same problem finding good cocktails for Suze. It's SO good, but I have struggled immensely!
So I've got a bottle of melon liqueur, and I make Pearl Harbors in the summer. Got any other drinks for it?
Sure do!
Yellow cactus flower feels a lot like a naked and famous with Suze instead of Aperol.
Nester’s refresher is definitely a great find, I have a bottle of white port kicking around I haven’t touched since I used 15ml in a Negroni variation I found from a bar in London.
Honestly even just a Porto Tonico is A+ for summer but the Nester’s takes it to the next level!
Is there a trick to separating the shaker tins after shaking? I have a super hard time pulling them apart, without banging them repeatedly on the counter top.
You just need to break the vacuum seal, I usually do it by gently wiggling the smaller tin inside the bigger tin - it helps to do this against your chest for stability. Also, don’t slam them together too hard at the beginning - the cold keeps the tins together so trust the physics! Hope that helps 😊
how about what should i do with my allspice dram and velvet falernum?? i bought them when i was on a tiki kick and now i have no idea how to use them in practical drinks 😢
Good call! A rum old fashioned type thing would go well with them I reckon…
Noting like a La Bouche Reelle Nº2...
Oooh that sounds great too!
I've been put off buying Suze because I'm kinda running out of shelf space and it didn't really seem that versatile. I'll have to give it a try in a bar first and think again about buying a bottle lol
In regards for a next video, initially I was gonna say Punt e mes, because I only really use it in a Redhook (Because Oscar at The Everleigh recommended it when asked for suggestions)... But I guess you can sub that into any amaro thing
So I'd love to see some 'adult' drinks with basic b1tch bottles of Midori or Blue Curacao . I love using them because they are so looked down on (And they look awesome hahaha)
Oooh that’s a fun idea!
@@BehindtheBar Just gotta put it out there... Corpse Reviver No. Blue 😁(And not just because it was created by a Kiwi lol)
White Negroni! I love Suze the most out of all the Gentian Apertifs. Salers and Aveze just don’t do it for me. Suze, Gin, and Tonic is an extremely easy highball sipper
I got a bottle from the neighbors so i have know idea how to drink it, im in ireland so have the 15abv one
Well hopefully this gave you some ideas!
Is Suze similar to Salers I have an unopened bottle of Salers don’t know what to do with it..
Yes you could definitely substitute!
@@BehindtheBar how dumb am I ??🤦♂ I must of skipped the intro first time watching as you said just that in the first few minutes of the vid 🤦♂ ..My apologies not trying to be annoying I should watch the full vid instead of skipping..Thank you for your response. I will definitely try these and the white Negroni I love these types of drinks..
I’d like to have a lecture on Cynar! Quite tired of Cynar negronis, Cynar Spritzes and Cynar Americanos
I have a bottle of Creme de Violet that I bought to make my wife an aviation. Now that bottle sits in the collection and gathers dust.
Definitely a good one
You know, it sort of frustrates me that these mixer makers don't put out their products in smaller bottles (Suze, Creme de Violette, Maraschino Liqueur, Camapari, or even Chartreuse, etc, etc.). Most of us don't make cocktails at home often enough to use up a large bottle before it goes bad, even refrigerated. Take a hint from Vermouth bottlers - 350 ml bottles should be the nominal size for these products (They'd sell more!:).
Definitely!
Suze is OK, but the alternative, but Salers is MUCH better. And Cocchi Americano is much better than Lillet
I’m a major Cocchi Americano fan but I’d say it and Lillet don’t do the same thing exactly - Cocchi has a much more pronounced bitterness so I think it could be quite abrasive alongside the Suze here.
@@BehindtheBar Right. I'm suggesting C Am, Salers and gin with a grapefruit twist. Very subtle. I really haven't figured out how best to use Suze. It's not bad as you've suggested, just seems a bit cartoonish. I think you'd really find Salers interesting.
