I like the 3 wagons for a fiver rummage boxes at exhibitions. Some great finds in those on occasion.

A great video that shows its not necessary to spend a fortune to have fun with our hobby, I do have some "expensive" models but also have some Lima and Mainline as im no millionaire and will modify and weather things to upgrade and suit my pocket. Carry on the good work.

Hi. I'm with you on the cost of locos. I have converted about 10 old Tri-ang class 101 (2 and 3 car units) which I've had since the 1970's. With some hard work they run ok on DCC. My next project is to convert some old Hornby and Lima (ringfield motor) locos. Adding as many pick up's as possible really help. Keep up the good work and keep the old ones alive.

Great video and I totally agree with the cost cutting or should I say, saving by fixing or upcycling of older stuff. I have always found it far more rewarding fixing a non runner than purchasing new.

Very nice video! That scene is very reminiscent of Dawlish. I’ve always liked the Lima HSTs - visually I think they still hold their own alongside the current Hornby offering. The overall shape is correct and the livery application seems good as well. Some of the new Hornby HST packs are going for over £500 on eBay, which is ludicrous!

Very informative video. Great layout and I love the 117. While watching your video i am modifying three lima mk 2 coaches to bring them up to scratch.

Great vid, from a distance you wouldnt notice much distance, loving the slow running you have achieved.

Interesting video and great to see you "upcycling" older models to give them a new lease of life...very greeen! I'm still DC and it seems adding extra pickups can significantly improve running so you've inspired me to try that. And wow! what is that unusual observation car at the end of your pullman rake on the Golden Arrow train?! Be good to hear more about that model and the real thing.

Hi great video and nice layout. Trains 4 u is excellent as just down A1 from me. Will be looking at your other videos. Your sea wall stretch looks good.

Whenever I add extra pickups to locos I always add them to the wheels with traction tyres as well. You'd be surprised how often they assist by their flange contact. My other feeling is that original traction tyres last far longer than after market ones, so unless missing I like to keep originals if I can
    Nice video. Gary

Nice video 👍🏻 I’ve a Lima 117 & a 121 on my work bench for conversation. You should show how you’ve done the extra pickups on the wheels 😄 Cheers Stevie 😎

Absolutely fantastic video. Extremely inspiring! Are these HSTs the train set or Golden series version?

Thanks. Sorry but i don’t know where they came from, i picked them both up as second hand unboxed.

@@dansmodelrailways7886 AFAIK the trainset versions have molded but unpainted glass details and no cab interiors. The swallow liveried one is definitely not the trainset version. Anyhow, again, fantastic video. I think I’ve watched it 5 times already! Can’t wait to get my hands on one of these and mod it as you did!

Hi Dan, what wire and brass plate (size) do you use for the pickups and where do you get these?

Sorry but the motors are NOT called 'pancake' they ARE Ringfield motors.
