    Advice for Year 12 social life: for me I didn't go out at all in secondary school so in year 12, I made an effort to go out after school with friends or organising things like group lunches on specific day eg Thursday

    And for those who do maths alevel my suggestion would be to do every exercise as many times as you can no matter what the questions in your exams will be similar to them and if youre confident doing your exercises go online and find some more. Math is easy in the sense that it is limited in what you need to cover so once you know that ensure to learn the ins and outs of each topics and question formats

    I’m going to a new school for sixth form so I hope people will be willing to invite me to sit with them or at least smile at me so I feel confident enough to go over to them haha, also I’m doing English lit geography and psychology. Are they all essay subjects? And are they a good combination?😬💞

    • @MeganMahoney1
      @MeganMahoney1  Před 3 lety +2

      Aw yeah of course, I feel like sixth form was so much friendlier than high school so that should happen. As long as it is socially distanced aha! Yep all essay, though geography and possibly psychology (check this as I might be wrong!) have some multiple choice and shorter answer questions. Yeah doing all essay subjects means you really practice your skills of forming an essay which is good, but also on the flip side it is A LOT of work. Geography and eng lit are 20% coursework so bear this in mind too :)

    My biggest advice would be to know how you study and understand. I personally hate mind maps and revision cards so i don't make them. I have a very good short term memory so i depend on that for tests and exams and general understanding of my course. So not all tips will be helpful if you don't first learn how you learn best.

    • @katielou1266
      @katielou1266 Před 3 lety +1

      Mine is the same! Theres a long list of clothes that girls aren't allowed to wear (tops that show shoulders or low cut, dresses or skirts above the knee or with splits, no denim or leather, no big brands or logos etc. This list is not exhausted) But the boys have to wear shirts, smart trousers and a tie! (Non-negotiable)

    Because of Corona I've had no induction day so everything is a bit mad at the moment.
    On top of that I'm returning to a public school which will include a lot of people I used to know (main reason I chose not to do that school for secondary).
    I've been doing online for 2 years so this'll be a real shock to the system.
    Should also say that my dress code is quite formal to the point you can't wear slogans on t-shirts/ have to wear a collared shirt under a jumper so I guess I'll have to do a little shopping for dress shirts.

      definitely do some studying as the bulk of your learning (I found anyway!) was done in year 12 as for me, a lot of year 13 was taken up by coursework. So take the mocks seriously as look at this year, mocks actually do count! But allow yourself to make friends and great memories. Even if you work hard during most your frees and a few hours after school and on the weekend or the odd weekday afternoon have time to have fun that will be more than enough :) xx

    Maybe a dumb question: do people change schools for the sixth form or why is everyone so nervous? I‘m going to be an exchange student and I‘m going to attend the sixth form too, but I thought most students would know each other already and wouldn‘t be nervous about it.

      I think some people change schools if their school doesn't have a sixth form or if they fancy a fresh start. And even if you do not change school, it can be nerve wracking starting new subjects and having to manage your own time. Good luck though for sixth form!
