    Also think in BIG numbers, if you know in your heart of hearts , you run a tight ship, you will always be in time, always do a cracking job, wont ever give customer reason to complain, you have not just landed a £12 a month job boo hoo :( NO ! you have just given yourself a a £144 a year pay rise. £12 x 12 month cleans. Get a £144 annual pay rise every day by just hooking x1 new customer a day ! = £12 x = 5 working days = £60 a week / £260 month / £3,120 year
    New customer around current work = more compact = less travel = less fuel = quicker job = more exposure = more potential chance of new work

    This is brilliant advice! The work is there, don’t be put off if you see other window cleaners around or in the road, quite often they have their own customers and not really interested in expanding so they come to the same 2 or 3 houses and that’s it. So the rest is fair game! Most people want a window cleaner, but often have tried to look for one or have been let down even before getting their windows cleaned, so you knocking their door is a god send to some! Some have never really thought about it so when you offer they think, “oh yeah ok I guess they do need doing!” As Darren said, clean smart friendly approach 9/10 beats any pompous woffle and over the top promises of this that and the other! Your local area is your oyster! 😏

    Darren. Your advice is bob on. I dont canvas any more ( I dont want any extra work, Ive decided I want a life instead and i have enough money, but 20 years ago I basically did exactly as you say...I developed a succinct doorstep patter and hit the streets. My previous job involved some salesman skills so I just used those on the doorstep. In 18 months I was working 9 hour days 5 to 6 days a week. Great advice again Darren and even though you are naught but a sprat in window cleaning terms, youve still taught me quite a bit. 😁👍

    I usually spend 2/3 hrs knocking doors on Saturday mornings from about 10 to 12:30ish. Most people are home and in a much better mood cause they've had a bit of a lie-in (so don't knock to early) and they don't have to go to work. So they usually have a bit more time to talk. I Keep the patter short sweet and to the point trying not to bore the life out of people. Even if i only pickup 1/2 customers a month for me that is a success.

    This is sound advice. I started up over 12 years ago and built a round in a little over 3 months. Canvassing for 6 to 7 hrs a day monday tuesday wednesday and then cleaning thurs and fri. Evening canvassing ia very effective as most people are in including the husbands who in my experience tend to give the go ahead.

  • @rinseshinewindowcleaning3558

    You dont know this Darren but you've actually done my apprenticeship lol! I had no clue what so ever just practised loads at home before went out canvassing. In 4 hours I've opened 7 regular accounts in a fiercely congested area with other guys. It can be done you just have to want it!

  • @lukeingham6817
    @lukeingham6817 Před 5 lety +2

    The work is their but you gotta go looking for it, I canvas at least an hour everyday when I have finished rounds and when I get a new customer who I have been recommended to that lives in a street I have not done before I always knock and post leaflets on every house on that street after doing their property, window cleaning is a great job with a great income, but you got to put the hard and draining work in to get the money.

  • @MrHoodedtop
    @MrHoodedtop Před 5 lety +3

    This is the truth knock the doors, close the customer make them happy with the first clean & keep the customer, between Canvassing & a sign written van you will be turning jobs down or passing them on... My only restriction is being a single parent.
    I can't always work 9-6, as I would if I was on my own... I have to spend time with my kid, I am all they have in their life, evenings & weekends are golden to us but I do take every job inbetween & take my kid with me when they let me haha pass on the skills early... No such thing as no work, only you're own negative mind gets in the way of you working

    To any doubters out there - there IS SO MUCH work out there, and so many folk doing poor jobs/service. you dont need to pay for it, go find it. reframe your mind that you are NOT a window cleaner but you are in the "people pleasing" business. £££ money is the natural by-product of people pleasing, (ie being true to your word, good value, reliable, good job, honest, clean all year)
    with chappng doors - The more you do, the more you got a chance. the more swings you take at the ball the more chance of a home run. Don't look like a convict, cover up the tats, be clean shaven, SMILE :) always take a set back upon the front door opened, keep it brief as green pro says, dont keep them any longer at the door than you want to be there yourself if you dont get a nibble. when you out working doing jobs youve landed, always try to get a 'personal' connection with dog walkers/ neighbours/passers by. a nod, smile, good morning is a personal connection. Dont just yell " you want your windows done ? " Neighbours,talk/rep is what builds compact rounds. they may approach you once fido has parked his breakfast on the way back when they seen you doing your job. also always have a clean van, CLEAN VAN = HIGH STANDARDS. the more the introductions or chaps on doors you do the better chances happen. overcome your anxiety, i perosnally dont like general public/stranger to like Green pro/ , but it needs to be done, OK, nobody EVER likes to be ever told NO, but every other door you chap MAY say YES . thats the way to think of it. folk will lie and think on spot on door step. but for every door your DONT chap you are guaranteed to get 100% NO WORK sitting on your rump indoors waiting for the phone to ring because you have spent £1000 on a web site DOESN'T guarantee or get you work. ALWAYS be taking action on your business

    When I canvass I go out at 2pm. Knock until 5pm writing down all the numbers of the dirty ones whilst canvassing. Then between 5 and 7 repeatedly go over my numbers I’ve written down. This way, between 5 and7 when most people are in, I am only knocking doors which have dirty windows. Yields great results. Similar to pitch here except if I’ve customers near them I will name drop like “ hi I clean Andys windows 2 doors down - can I put you on the rounds? “ whilst handing the card. Agree with the close on the price. I emphasise I clean all the windows, frames, sills and doors plus I notify them the night before and pay online. If an easy going person I might add that the only thing I don’t do is pay for them and smile. Each has there own bit of gift of the gab. There is another way to get customers that’s dynamite - I might even let this gent know as he’s sound ( 25 years in the game - spent wayyyy too much money early doors) 😂😂

    Q. and this may raise some eye browes, I am thinking of starting a window cleaning round, canvasing, but hear that if there is a window cleaner on the street you target then if you get a house etc, then they kick off, ie some can be violent, this doesn't really bother me to much but how do you and other pro cleaners feel about people poss canvasing your area, is it fair game ie anyone can try any area, or dont tread on other peoples toes??
