      Great video! Appreciate all the info. I did have a question in regards to lip synch. In the video, if I remember correctly, you said you have a LG E6? I have a C6 and I have terrible lip synch lag with Dolby Vision titles. Was wondering if this player really is worth it, not only for great picture quality, but also to correct this lip synch issue I have. Thanks

      I have the LG UP970 also and playing 4K discs it makes a horrendous buzzing sound it did it since new but I didn't have many 4K movies at the time (mostly blu ray) and what a piece of junk this player is. I also saw a review with pictures of the UBK90 and it uses the exact same circuit boards as the UP970 the 3 boards are marked UP970 haha, so what did LG change between those 2 players? BTW the UP970 uses a SONY drive/transport, maybe that's what changed between them?

    Just bought the UB820, and it’s been great so far although had first disc freeze yesterday. It was regular blu ray disc, but after ejecting it, examining the disc (it’s in perfect condition, no scratches) put it back in and it played fine from scene where freezing started.

    • @thenonexistinghero
      @thenonexistinghero Před rokem

      Discs can freeze regardless. It's just that this player seems to be the one with the fewest freezes/lowest risk of freezes. The main problem is the fact that 100 GB 4K blu-rays have so much data crammed in them that it's hard to read for 4K blu-ray players. It also doesn't help that there's hardly any released and that the best 4K blu-ray player is from like 5 years ago already (at the point of me writing). The main reason I got this one is because it seems to have the lowest risk for freezing. I do suppose the upscaler for regular blu-rays and HDR improvement thingy for regular HDR10 are nice bonuses to have, but in terms of image quality it's exactly the same as $150-$250 4K blu-ray players for any 4K movie with Dolby Vision.
      I'd have gone for a cheaper player if it wasn't for there being numerous issues with the players in those price range, but sadly... this seemed to the only viable option if I wanted to avoid them as much as possible.

    Thanks to this! I just bought this player last week, along a copy of Midway 4k UHD movie. When watching it over the weekend, I noticed 2 spots where the movie froze up for about 5 seconds. The 9000 is $999 so quite a bit more and other CZcamsrs say there’s not much difference except for better and more sturdier build quality. I also heard there’s more audio options but not sure I would utilize them in a 5.2.4 Atmos setup?

    Having the USB port on the front is really not a problem - just use a Sandisk Cruzer Fit. Door closes fine and you don't have the risk of a USB drive hanging out the front of the player just begging to be knocked and possibly damaging the USB port. There are a number of high capacity, low profile USB thumb drives available so just use one of them.

I have underwater videos that I've made and burned to DVD (Final Cut Pro). 1) Do you know if they would play on the Panasonic? 2) Also hope to upgrade to 4K camera and wondering if those movies / DVDs will play on this player? 3) Hopefully not a stupid question, but why would I turn on my player to use, say Netflix, instead of just selecting & watching directly from my TV? Will my 4K TV automatically upscale picture - like the player does? Thank you.

    I've had some minor issues with this player. Although it does produce exceptional 4K HDR quality and upscaling, it is extremely sensitive to disks that have the slightest of blemishes/scratches. I've even exchanged for the same model and it it just seems susceptible to freezing if your disks aren't spotless. Ironically, I also own a Sony X700 which plays through the same disks with no problem at all. In the end, this panny is a great player and the pros outweigh the cons...just make sure your disks are immaculate!

    I like the Panasonic players, unfortunately the one issue I have with my UB900 is the screen saver facility, playing music streamed is very good, but every two minutes I have to press a button the remote to bring the information back to screen, unfortunately this screen save facility cannot be deactivated permanently, I consulted Panasonic about this and they confirmed this is the case, however I suggested to them to allow manual override of the system in future players, I also mentioned SACD and DVD audio support which they have promised to add sometime ago and still they have not allowed support of these formats.
    I may dump Panasonic and go with another brand that supports SACD and DVD Audio which are important me.

    I currently use an xbox one x for my 4k blu rays and it is decent, but the only problem I have with it is It doesn't display out in the full range of RGB which my monitor supports. And when I got a downloaded version of aquaman I switched between both versions and the disc looked washed out compared to the downloaded version because of the forced limited range. So I was wondering if this player does support the full range of rgb, or if maybe it has something to do with the disc as to why it wont output in the full range.
