First, Puerto Rico is not an island, it is an archipelago which includes many islands, cays and islets together. Two Puerto Rico does not have a mountain since Puerto Rico has hills, mountains, savannas, Tunas, etc. LA COORDILLERA CENTRAL range of Puerto Rico is a group of mountains that crosses the island. Where its highest peak is Cerro Punta where you can see San Juan, the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic. Three Puerto Rico if you plant apples and grapes, the farm is called Nebai fruit garden in San Sebastian, 45 minutes from the capital. Which I invite you to visit and you would be surprised. Did you know that Puerto Rico has 600 waterfalls and 800 rivers more than 10 feet high. Puerto Rico has 3 of the 5 bioluminescent bays in the world. It also has a beach with black volcanic sands. I have to correct you because banana is not the same as plantain although they are families. I invite you again to learn more about your archipelago, our archipelago, and take care of it as if you were born there. welcome 🤗 🇵🇷
And of course Bacardi is not Puerto Rican, it is Cuban. Puerto Rican rum is Ron Don Q. and barilito and palo viejo rum.

As a PR living in the west part of the island but with extensive travel to Chile( Portillo, Santiago, Chillan, Pucon, Valdivia, frutillas , Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt y Chiloe) plus other small towns. Had 2 properties in Pucon but sold them! Is a tie for me! Love the south of Chile, and the Chilean slang ( Al tiro, weon, etc) love to go back sooner than later

I couldn't live there because I'm not good in tropical weather. Didn't know we have 900 beaches in Chile! amazing. There are flights from San Juan to several destinations in South and Central America like Colombia, Panama, and Mexico that are direct. Also, the mountains(not just one) may not be as high as the mountains in South America (the Andes are some of the highest in the world ) but they are beautiful in their own right. There are many rivers, waterfalls, and caves throughout the island(the Camuy Caverns are the third largest in the world. And there are more than just pineapples and bananas, which btw, you can get locally grown ones at the roadside stands and supermarkets.
Also all the food in PR isn't fried. Those are just snack foods and tourist attractions.

If I had to choose between the two countries, I would probably pick chili just because of it size and variety of topography and climate. Puerto Rico is nice due to its proximity to the US. Santiago on the other hand is like flying to the US from Europe.

I understand your fondness for Chile; I've been there myself several times, visited Puerto Rico as well, and I adore Ecuador. Each of these countries has its own charm, natural beauty, and tourist attractions. However, it must be admitted that the beaches of the Chilean Pacific are very cold; they can't be compared with those of the Caribbean. When it comes to mountains and biodiversity, Ecuador takes the lead. I lament the fact that Chile exploits foreign tourism in the wrong way; everything is expensive. Visiting Torres del Paine is costly, and staying in a hotel in Frutillar costs as much as in the USA. On the other hand, Ecuador is a country that makes tourism very accessible, both for locals and foreigners. Puerto Rico lacks a proper transportation system for tourists to visit the main tourist attractions, which forces us to rent a car. Greetings from Canada.

i've always thought of chile as being a baking culture, and i'd wager argentina is similar. you bake bread, empanadas, pastel de choclo (pizzas in Arg.), etc. my theory is that since it's a cooler country historically lacking reliable heating devices (you've seen the different space heaters but yet it's always cold in winter) the oven would help to heat the house. in tropical countries, where it's always hot. the last thing you want to do is turni on the oven when you're already sweaty enough cooking, so frying is quicker and heats up your living space less. this might just be BS, it's just my theory as a chilean-american from michigan. saludos!

1st of all Chile is not an island for an island is land surrounded by water on all sides. And Puerto Rico's terrain is very mountainous, it has many mountains, is not just a hill/mountain. The one most famous one is El Yunque. Puerto Rico for being a small island it a high variety of eco systems..We have dry/desert and rain forests, 3 bioluminest bays 5 are in found in the world and the majority and most bright are located in Puerto Rico. Off course cannot mention all the things, but in a lot of ways you are comparing apples with oranges as I see it. BTW, Puerto Rico also has black sand.

If you can drive from San Juan to San Sebastian in 45 minutes, then that means you're going about 120. It usually takes about 1hr 45 minutes going normal speed.

Los chilenos decimos que Chile es el mejor país, al escuchar Puerto Rico recuerdo el desarme del famoso telescopio, los huracanes, terremotos HAARP, me parece una isla semi abandonada por EE.UU. su gente no lo pasa muy bien.
Entonces no conoce PR, solo ha visto noticias negativas. No digo que lo que ha mencionado de cosas que han pasado no tengan algo de realidad histórica pero su mala impresión dista MUCHO de como viva la población de PR y sobretodo lo que experimente un turista que vaya de visita a PR. Mijo toma un viaje para PR y educate. PR es un archipelago con islas bien unicas. Puedes encuentrar arrecifes, hermosas playas con arena blanca y suave con aguas cristalinas (playa flamenco en la isla de Culebra siempre esta entre las mejores del mundo) o playas con arena negra volcánica y formaciones de rocas que forman piscinas naturales en las costas, zonas montañosas donde las temperaturas pueden bajar hasta los 40F-50F (considerado bien frio para el Caribe), valles, mogotes, cuevas y cavernas subterráneas gigantescas (teniendo el 3r sistema de cavernas subterráneas mas grandes del mundo); 3 de las pocas bahías bioluminiscentes del todo el planeta (siendo la bahía en la isla de Vieques las mas brillante del mundo), sumideros gigantes, rios, lagos, cascadas, manglares, zonas áridas/deserticas, bosques secos y bosques tropicales. Y esto es sin hablar de los animales, las ciudades y la cultura. Chile es otro pais maravilloso con sus propias bellezas naturales y humanas y estoy loco por visitar. Pero conozca antes de hablar mierda y respete los rangos que PR, siendo mas pequeño,
tiene tanta diversidad que no necesitamos mirar pal lado. Eso si, es posible que estemos un poco celosos de que ustedes reciben nieve 😂 y aun tienen glaciares pero aun sin eso somos felices. Saludos!
