I'm a Gringo, but my life is the perfect combination of two different cultures. The first part is made of twenty-eight years living in the United States, while in the second part I've been living in Latin America for over 10 years now. I'm in love with these two worlds to the point where from a burger to an empanada I'm equally happy. And although it might sound strange to some, there can be similarities between these places, and I love sharing them in fun and interesting ways.

Amazing video! I loved it, especially because I am a nature nut and a birder, right now I have hummingbirds and other birds in my backyard, and a house wren nesting in a little house I have for them. I also raise monarch butterflies, they are so beautiful. Thank you for all the good tips and awesome views! I’m planning to move in Chile so how do you get your residency bro
Great question... we never could get it... You will need to contact the chilean embassy where you are first and gather everything you need before you go. We had to get our graduations from university papers apostiled, background checks apostled and much more. I'd contact the Chilean embassy because we did this almost ten years ago now in Chile :)

Quiero contarles una anecdota, tengo un profesor de ingles de turquia que no tiene idea de Chile, él quiere visitar sudamerica y su idea es Brasil, patagonia (en el sur de argentina) , peru y colombia, mientras en las clases iba comentando cosas de Chile, él buscaba algo de informacion para ocupar en la siguiente clase.....hasta que un dia, como él no habla español, se me ocurrió compartirle unos videos tuyos y quedo sorprendido de Chile, no sabia nada y ahora quiere visitarlo si o si.....gracias Jon por hacer conocido nuestro país, ojala vuelvas algun dia
Hi, you are in the right place at the right time. I will be there in October 2024 and finish life in Chile. I have lived in Chile 25 years and USA right now is a disaster in waiting for the right time to get worse. I took my wife to hospital and with insurance got a $100,000 bill. The work the hospital claims did is to me 80% questionable. I see both medicare and SSI going out of business in a few more years. All of which will impact 25% of the population immediately.

The biggest difference between Chile and the other countries…Chile doesn’t have Tropical weather…but because it’s very long , north and south totally different…best regards.!

Chile is more expensive than other latin american countries but is still way cheaper than US. I went to Miami this year and it felt way more expensive than Chile. For the price of a good restaurant in Chile you can barely eat in a mediocre restaurant in US. Same for renting a place or buying average stuff.

When everything is sooooo freaking cheap, dont forget to mention, that an average salary in Argentina is around 450,- us dollar a month.
I know.. and that even fluctuates with how far that money will go because prices go up and down so much. It's honestly so sad to me.

Pastel de choclos and pastelera is the very best
Chile is the main producer of berries. Strawberries are originally from Chile! Chile produces cranberries for the USA, like Ocean Spray. Blueberries are produces in huge amounts in Chile, raspberries etc.
How about my Tex Mex, I can hold simple conversations, used to speak almost fluently.

Great question! I did live in Linares, yes. Linares is about 3.5 hours drive south of Santiago and it is much cheaper to live there than in Santiago. Just the amount you might pay in tolls or bus fees would save a bunch of money as Linares is a small city that you can walk to most places without much need for transportation. Just buy a bike and you're good!
