    David Draiman...a voice to die for. A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion and back on a dime. He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before.....just hauntingly beautiful tonal properties to it! An awesome talent and obvious training to deliver what he does!! Can sing like an angel or the devil ! Loved your reaction and your take on David's performance. Good job Birdman! Try "Deceiver", "The Night", "Indestructible", "Violence Fetish" and "The Light" by Disturbed too.

    I am so glad you know Simon and Garfunkel's original from 1964. I loved your reactions to this cover, I am a child of the 60's and S&G came out when I was in high school. this cover by Disturbed along with this video is the BEST it touches your soul and really gets S&G message to the core of my being goosebumps and chills and tears, for many others too. I saw DISTURBED in October of 2019 here in st.louis at chafitz arena. Home of st.louis billiken's. I can vouch that it is his voice. Because some people think it's not all him. And the live version on Conan O'Brien show also proves it's his voice. If you get the chance to see them live, I highly suggest it.

    Nice reaction. There are many covers of this song, beautiful and technically perfect but in my view Disturbed 'is the best. The mix between Simon & Garfunkel's lyric, David's voice and the band's interpretation made something extraordinary and touching. Someone thinks this version is sad. Instead I feel it as a profound message and I find very hopeful the last scene in which the ship with the musicians reaches people without a voice. Music has always been a powerful means of communication.

    Man, I love how much you get out of these songs. I’ve been trying to really understand this song since this version came out and you just made it make sense. I completely agree with you on 2 points. I really, really wish people knew how to actually listen and I also think that the Simon and Garfunkel version was way too lighthearted. This version is honestly one of my favorite songs to blare when I’m anger. David’s tone, the percussion and even some of the instrumentation can be really cathartic. Definitely going back to find some of your other disturbed reactions. For some reason I thought you’d already done this one. Glad I was wrong. Thanks for the amazing reaction as always brother. Much love.

    I agree with you completely my friend! As a millennial, it frustrates me so much that we aren't listening to or hearing each other. Everyone's told they can have an opinion but if it goes against someone else's it's considered wrong so those people are silenced and the sound of silence drones on. I'd absolutely love to see Dave Draiman and Geoff Castellucci collab

    We are all guilty of this at some point. We have made a world too busy to take time and sit down and have a conversation with our family, neighbors, etc. Most people don't even know their neighbors names these days. I miss the days of my childhood, the days of front porch sitting conversations.

    DISTURBED has alot of great songs. Iam 63 years old. I thought the original version was BORING. I grew up in DETROIT and i was hearing music very early age. Simon and Garfunkel sang the song kind of folky. DAVID DRAIMAN SINGS IT WITH SO MUCH MORE FEELING AND MORE POWERFULLY THAN THE ORIGINAL VERSION. I Have been listening to this band for a little over 3 and a half years now. And every month i hear something new that i like. Most people think that if your old than you can't like newer groups. Well i am anold hippie and I love all kinds of music. I am willing to at least try and see if i like it. People need to keep an open mind. You never know what you might be missing out on.

    I grew up hearing the original by S&G. It was...eh. ok? But like you, I didn't really like it. In my opinion, the song had such powerful words that were presented to us with soft, passive voices. I felt they did the song a disservice (yes, I know Simon wrote it...) they weren't the right voices for this song. NO ONE listened to the song, they heard it but didn't listen, because they lacked the power this song needed to get the point across. This song was made for David. His voice, his anger, his passion is what the song had been lacking for ... half a century. People are finally listening. So many reactions to this song and many (not all, but many) are actually pondering the meaning which is what is needed.

    • @BirdmansPlace
      @BirdmansPlace  Před 3 lety +2

      What you just said in this comment is EXACTLY my feelings on the subject. Voices were way too passive. What they were saying was factual back then...and now it's too late...Disturbed is the version we needed back then.
