- Important! Fast bleeding can only be carried out if the pistons of the brake calliper have been brought into the initial position or if the procedure is carried out on a new brake.
This video will show you how to carry out the fast bleeding procedure on a MAGURA MT disc brake.
You can find a summary of the tools you will need below:
- brake cleaner (Liqui Moly Rapid Cleaner)
- MAGURA Service Kit with MAGURA Royal Blood mineral oil
- MAGURA transport retainers
- Torx T25 tool
- Torque wrench (T25) for 0.5 Nm
- Torque wrench (T25) for 4 Nm
You'll find more information in the service section at www.magura.com/en/components/...
Your MAGURA dealer will also be glad to help you. If you have specific questions, you can also contact us via the chat feature on our social media channels.

Thank you for this🙏
My back brake was really hard to get the air out of, this mad it WAAAY easier...
The other method works but this one actually gets the remaining air out...
Finaly a quick fix that works. Normal bleeding the back brake kept feeling spongy. Thans over now..
Thanks for the tutorial
This is why I love Magura over any other brakes.
You only need to do this twice a year and the stopping power is phenominal.
No pots to put on the fluid reservior, no need for a full brake bleed.
Ive had MT7's But now ride MT Sport same stopping power but entry level brakes, I ride skateparks and urban. No complaints from me.
Just got Trail SL’s and the brakes are unbelievably powerful over my old XT 4 plots! I keep getting a very slight rub front and rear. Almost as though the pistons don’t retract enough. I’ve done the bleed just like what was shown twice with no luck. I’m using the Magura bleed kit🤷♂️
Hi, thanks a lot for your comment! We're happy to hear that you've enjoyed them so far! Please send us a message on Facebook or Instagram so we can help you find a solution for your rubbing issue!
Cheers!
Make sure the caliper sits aligned and centred. I had the same problem n found out that my caliper was seated a lil slanted n was the reason one of my pad rubs the rotor even when the brakes weren't depressed.
This is the only method that allows me to successfully bleed my rear brake. No matter how vertical I get the bike and how meticulous I am with the bleed; I always have trapped air in the master.
If I use this method after a full bleed; air always escapes and the bite is very firm.
What is the setup on the caliper side? I have a new brake - can I just do it with the new pads and the yellow transport device inserted OR push pistons in, use no pads and full bleed block?
“1. Move the pistons to their starting point”. Can you please specify what you guys mean with this?
I saw many other video of Magura fast bleeding simply leaving the wheel, disc and brake mounted, moving directly to step 2.
Thanks a lot for the question! To assure the proper fill level, and that the brake system doesn't get overfilled during the fast bleed process, the pistons must be returned to their fully retracted position and the thick side of our yellow transport device must be inserted.
I should’ve went with shimano. Live and learn.
Best of both worlds go shigura
@@KillaMTB Nobody really uses Shigura anymore, MT2's are cheaper and have the same power.
Followed various different methods for bleeding my new MT5 brakes,Rear brake doesnt feel anywhere near as firm as the front,Plus when i use the reach adjust for levers the brake feels even less powerful!!!
Is there a certain length the lever will come to at the bars before it doesnt do anything @MAGURA
Hi, thanks for the comment, we're sorry to hear that you're having trouble getting the rear brake to feel right! Could you send us a message on Facebook or Instagram so we can help you with this in more detail? Here's our FAQ for that topic as a first piece of help: www.magura.com/en/components/techcenter/faq-what-to-do-if-the-bite-point-on-your-disc-brakes-is-spongy-soft-or-simply-not-right/
Does the syringe have to have a hole in it? I have a bleed syringe for magura brakes but it doesnt have a hole in, will the bleed work if I use this?
Yes, the hole is there in order to equalize pressures at the end of the fast bleeding process. If your syringe doesn't have a hole you can simply drill one. Make sure to remove all plastic chips before bleeding your brakes.
can you do this on mt or mt2??
Yes, you can do a quick bleed on a MT2.
Is this procedure also suitable for MT 7? Thanks.
Yes it is! Please only make sure that you noticed all informations and don´t Forget to push the Pistons back in before you start bleeding.
It works on MT7's any Magura besides HS33's
What is meant with the piston inital/starting position? Do they need to touch the disc?
The Fast Bleeding technique can only be carried out on new brakes (where pads and rotors have no wear yet), or with our transport device installed. This is necessary to ensure the correct fill level of the brake. Overfilling the brake due to not resetting the pistons and fixing them in position can cause damage to the brake.
So there's no longer a reason to crack the bleed port on the caliper?
In most cases the fast bleeding helps with spongy brake feeling but in some cases you also need the complete bleeding including calliper. Try the fast bleeding first and if it doesn´t help try the complete bleeding. We also have a video on our channel for this.
Something is wrong with my MT8 brakes. After bleeding them 20 times, including at my local bike shop, and replacing the lever/master cylinder, and the pads, and the brake line, I still have an endless supply of air in the brakes! When I do the vacuum trick shown here, the air just keep coming out. After all this effort and part replacement, I'm totally out of options - ANY Help or advice would be appreciated!
Change your hoses, also check that there is no oil around the pistons. If there is its a sure sign that air is getting into the system, It happened to me once. I then brought MT7's
They have a lifetime warranty too so send them back to Magura.
Are you supposed to install the bleed block before the quick bleed?
Yes, to avoid overfilling this is strictly necessary. Unless you are doing the procedure on a brand new brake with new pads and rotors.
Yesterday bled my mt7 rear brake, using the full method, but still got some air somewhere in the system, am I supposed to fully bleed the system or do the fast bleeding procedure?
You can try the using the fast bleeding method, simply because it's faster, but if air is trapped lower in the system, that won't help. While using the full method, did you make sure to remove the caliper from the frame so it can hang vertically? If not, air cannot properly escape from the caliper. Feel free to send us a message on Facebook or Instagram if you need any further help with this!
Hello , can I do this process in magura mt sport brakes ? Thanks
Yes!
@@MAGURAPassionPeople thanks for answer mi question
I tried this method and my brakes are fully bled for the 1st time ever. But I am wondering what to do with those 20ml of oil in the syringe? Do I get rid of it or can it be used again just for fast bleeding?
Unless it's significantly contaminated, it can be reused!
Did a fast bleed on an old MT2. It worked. But I have to agree with most comments that the plastic EBT torx screw is poor design. Not only is it very easy to overtorque, but also impossible to get out. It shears right off.
Hi I am living in overseas in South america, no chance of getting a magura kit I have no pressure in my MT4 brakes. Until covid 19 over can I use car brake fluid and syringe in to the handlebar brake grip EBT? screw? I cant ride my bike otherwise. thank you
no. car brake fluid is dot oil. it will destroy the seals of the mt4 since its for mineral oil. you need to use mineral oil
If you cant get mineral oil specifically for magura brakes. Any mineral oil will do, Baby oil or vegetable oil can be used but for a very temp fix. Id recomend paying the air delivery an sticking to the manufacturers instructions
Where can I purchase a bleed kit with the predrilled hole in the syringe?

When you say to bring pistons of the brake caliper into the initial position, what exactly is that? Are you just pushing the pistons back in to where they are flush instead of sticking out just a bit?
pushed back into the caliper with the brake pads removed and the brake transport blocks in-place
@@marcdxn87 Thank you!
You get two yellow brake holders when you buy the brakes. Thats what they are for. Youare right its just pushing the pistons back to the original position.
Yeah i am so happy this procedure destroys my mt trail sport lever!!! Im so happy f* plastic levers made from piece of garbage... But calipers are great...
Now i am waiting for money with front brake only... and after that i will buy ma...shimano levers because bleeeing procedure for maguras are worst than sram avid ones...
If the procedure is conducted properly, this absolutely should not destroy you brake master. Please feel free to reach out via Facebook, Instagram or our contact form for further help: magura.com/en/EUR/contact
Hi, what does statring position means? Should the pistons be flush with the caliper?
Before you start with the fast bleeding please make sure that you push the pistons back. If the brake is completely new and the pads are not worn out, you can use the transportation device and put it with the thin side between the pads. If you did so, the pistons are back in. Or if you do the fast bleeding on an used brake, please put the brake pads out and put the transportation device with the thick side between the pistons.
