Man this saved me, so much time. I kept hear the compressor running long after parked.
Very helpful thank you
Best explanation
Tku , good tips .
Hi! I have a tiny leak on my 2 valve where you charge the nitrogen what is the best solution to fix it or can I just use tapelon to fix it? And one more thing I need to change my front air suspension can I just let the compressor fill up the air or do I really need to use nitrogen? Thank you so much
It was the fuse. You just saved me $100's!
Best thing that worked for me it’s taking them completely out they’re trash
How would you replace the air lines?
Just worked on ,my first one today, with the system in exit mode it deflates the bags halfway, this was the only way to find a leak in one of the rear bags.
Nice work
I have a question about my 2015 ram 1500 air suspension, i only have one side, back end on drivers side that will sagg evey now and then, none of the others do that, would that be because the air suspension control valve solenoid is going bad, i can reset the air suspension and it will start working again for a short time then do it again.
My manifold cracked right where you said it would with the aluminum to plastic. To replace the manifold do I jsit swap it and let the pump run to refill with air or do I need to somehow buy nitrogen?
Don’t want to take it apart and grenade my entire system.
It should be filled with nitrogen. Regular air can fluctuate pressure in relation to temperature and also introduces water molecules into the system which can be devastating over time
What are your thoughts on using aftermarket air suspension? I have a 2013 Dodge ram 1500 Limited I see on A1 auto they have a replacement for front and rear quite a significant price savings versus dealer cost.
100% go for it! If I had one I would definitely be going aftermarket, the dealer shocks are soo expensive. Hey you should check out a company called “Arnott” they sell all kinds of replacement air suspension, not sure if they are cheaper than A1 but definitely worth looking at
Thanks the kit for all four is less than a $1000. At this cost point, I’d rather just get the air suspension up and going versus deleting it.
Hey brother I have a 2017 ram it keeps suddenly failing along with the tcs and tow /haul, trailer brake any idea what it could be ive checked fuses and what not where are you located it seems the mechanics in my area seem to not know anything about the air suspension
I’m in Canada 🇨🇦. Does the system air itself back up after it leaks down or does it leak down and you keep having to bring it in to your shop?
Mine has the leak coming from the top of the front bag like you said. Do I need to replace that entire bag assembly. Or just the fitting ?
I’ve had luck just replacing the fitting
Do you have a part number for the fitting? Thanks
Does front struts lower mounts same as non air ride. I was thinking could swap to coil overs? Friends truck? Thanks
Yeah they make conversion kits for these that come with regular shocks
@@Tech-28 thank you for your help today
My problem is intermittent. Summer or winter , on the highway in aero mode it will drop to the frame and ride like like there's no suspension, and won't lift once slowed down. Eventually it will lift again around the city. As long as it doesn't go into aero it's fine.
I had that issue, and it ended up being my rear bag'. Whenn the bags are in in aero mod, the bags would leak. I guess the cracks in the bags would only leak in the lower settings. When it was in normal mode or off road mode the cracks were pinched off. Thankfull, it was under warranty so ididn'tt have to pay the 4k cus they needed to replace the pump as well.
Mine too. I’ve spent a few grand trying to fix. Chrysler doesn’t have a clue. I need help
@@jamespenner1412 right now I’m running into this same issue it started with the front 2 wheels being on its bumps and the compressor stalling and over 20 minutes I’d pull into a gas station restart the truck and see the system rise to when driving home from work it just felt like crap in aero mode to it won’t fine it’s normal ride height off highway and won’t change to any other modes and I’ve checked leaks in every setting got none but randomly had the drivers side rear deflate completely empty and all I’ve had are compressor codes any suggestions
@Austin West if your rear bag is deflating then your rear bag will be shot. Rear bags are famous for leaking. I would put the vehicle in entry exit mode, after its got to that setting go to settings on your unconnect and ho into settings ,suspension then go to tire jack mode, turn on tire jack mode (it dosen't allow the pump to go on) and leave it for night. In the morning go push down on every corner of the vehicle to see what corner has no suspension. The bag that has no suspension will be shot. Replace it.
@@jamespenner1412 how do u go into entry exit mode?
Hey Tech28, My left rear bag looses air when setting overnight only in regular height mode, if I put it in off road 1 or 2 it stays up. Would you have any suggestions on where to start looking?
Interesting 🧐 well I would have to say that you definitely have a leak in the system and based on that I would immediately go to the soapy water leak sprayer method, if I were you I would start by having the left rear bag full once the compressor fills it up and then spray the bag and fitting above the bag and see if you’ve got a leak. There is a plastic cover that covers the bag and the zip ties holding it up would need to be cut. I would say to have it in regular height mode when testing it seeing as that’s when your loosing air
My passenger rear bag does the same thing. I've gotten used to just keeping it in OR1 overnight due to it not leaking at that height.
Hey there where is your shop in Canada seems that I will need to get my truck to you if you near me since I can’t find anyone to fix my 2017 ram 1500 air suspension failure and how do I contact you
Where are you located? I might be able to find you a shop that can fix it.
How do you disconnect the height level sensor electrical quick connect, I want to check the connections, but I see side tabs that look like they toggle in and out, but the connector won't slide off. I don't have a leak everything works, the it will just go flat, and it has no idea where it's at, then it will all start working again fine for days or weeks.
The connector will come off you should try cleaning it first to get any small dirt and debris out from behind the release tabs. A lot of times the manufacturer of the connectors don’t give the release tab enough space to unlatch and I use a small flathead screw driver or similar tool to release the locking tab carefully!
@@Tech-28 Thank you, the connectors all looked good, so that's not the problem, lol
@ 1:55 ... The brass fitting that goes into the aluminum housing... mine is leaking from there. Can I separate & fix the leak @ that spot?? :-) thank you
Yeah they sell that piece separate so you can fix it, I’ll see if I can find you a link
@@Tech-28 thank you so much for your reply, but I did separate the brass fitting, just unscrewed it & replaced the o-ring with a simple new faucet o-ring & the leak is stopped now. Thank you for your time!
@@sebastian842 that’s awesome! Glad to hear you fixed it! Keep up the great work 👍
I have a 14 ram, went to start battery clicked and dash said service air suspension. Got new battery started fine, no more air suspension message and no codes with obd scanner, raises, lowers fine but when ur driving feels a lil rough like it’s not working and when jump on bumper back bumper not trying to adjust for load. Any suggestions? Thx
Hey did you get it fixed ? Mine started feeling like it bottomed out on the rear while driving so it feels really rough
I have a Ram 1500 that will not hold the last setting. It keeps going back to the mid setting. as soon as you start to drive. It also is a 3.0 ED
It would be best to scan the vehicle for fault codes first to try and see if any have set, sounds like you might have an input sensor fault from one of the various input signals sent to the air ride computer which determine what conditions the vehicle may be under in turn causing the trucks suspension to always default to medium height
My 2017 rebel, drivers side front keeps dropping after not driving it for a day or 2. Is it most likely the fitting on top? Thanks!
Grab yourself some soapy water in a spray bottle and spray it down to see if it bubbles
@@Tech-28 will do thanks!
Do you know the part# for the manifold? Issue wasn't the brass fitting and whole front end was dropped after not driving it for a week. Think the issue might be one of the aluminum valves in the manifold.
I don’t know exactly off the top of my head, you would be best to call a dealer with your VIN and get them to find you the newest superseded part number available
@@shawnmcbrien9561 I can't find it
Thank you for making this. In your opinion.... what is the long-term solution? Repair/replace as needed every few years or scrap this system for a traditional conversion kit?
I like the conversion kit, then you don’t have anymore headaches
What conversion kit do you recommend
Do you know where to get a Service/Shop Manual for the Air Suspension System for a 2015 Ram 1500 Sport?
I am not sure about a physical copy but anything I use is online
@@Tech-28 Where do you get it online at?
@@energyefficient2247 I use a paid program called Mitchell pro demand
Can air suspension be removed and just replace with normal shocks?
Yep 👍 I’ve done the replacement on a few trucks now, the only thing is after everything is done you’ll have to unplug the air suspension module under your seat otherwise the truck will ding and flash messages at you all the time. You’ll still get a message on your instrument cluster for the module fault but it won’t be as annoying. So far I haven’t found any companies that make a bypass or easy flash style module delete to permanently erase the programming from the trucks memory
Thanks!! What would a job like that cost roughly,?
What about if the air suspension lasts a few miles then goes out...then it comes back after a few more miles???
When it loses air it's like riding on the bump stops...then out of the blue the air ride is back...I can't figure it out. If the system is a closed system then a leaking fitting or air bag would make it never to come back
There is a “switching valve” located beside the pump with a bunch of lines going into it that are all color coordinated and it’s possible the “purge valve/switch valve” that opens to release excessive pressure is getting stuck intermittently causing the system to deflate but once it closes again the compressor is able to fill the system back up. What I would do is scan the vehicle for fault codes to see if it has set any related faults to the “switching valve”
@@Tech-28 only codes it throws are...
PO305
P219A
P1DF3
@@Tech-28 oh...my Longhorn is a 2013 1500
@@franklee9127 P0305 is a misfire, better get that checked out too. P219A is a o2/AF sensor code, probably has to do with the misfire. P1DF3 is an ECU code.
@@Tech-28 yeah, figured the misfire had to do with the O2 sensor...
My air suspension system does not leak, but rather the rear passenger corner gets stuck up or one height setting higher than the other three l. Any thoughts?
Mine are not identical hights either, i even made some adjustable links to manually adjust it to the sensor and could not get them closer than within halan an inch of each other.
I have a 2015 Ram 1500 and the dash air ride system is on the normal ride height but will not change when i push the up/down buttons & my remote does nothing either. I live in Florida in the country and saw a couple of rats roaming through my truck so suspecting they bit through some wires somewhere... I am waiting for my service manual to arrive.... When i start the truck I get the "Service Air Suspension" on my readout for a few seconds. I have a nice Fixd code reader but nothing comes up..... Luckily I have no leaks in my system and it is maintaining normal ride height..... Wish i had a layout/schematic of wiring to the module or compressor....
Hey there did you get any fault codes?
Hi,
Can somebody help me where to order suitable values? The ones where the system gets filled?
Did you mean to say valves? Or value? Also the system gets filled at a shop by someone with a machine
@@Tech-28 Sorry, I meant valves. You can fill it up yourself with a nitrogen bottle and the correct connectors. Those I have there. I just found that these valves could be the cause for a leak in the system. It looses preassure slowly. So I'd like to replace them.
@@Viperger yep I’ve replaced lots of valves, it’s possible to buy them separately from Chrysler I just don’t remember the part number
@@Tech-28 Oh, okay. I have searched for them, but was not able to find them in the internet. I am located in Germany, so going to a crysler dealer is not an option for myself. 😀But I have family in the states, so I'll ask them to got to a dealer with a picture. ;-)
Thanks. 🙂
@@Viperger ok, yeah I know they are available because I’ve ordered them myself when I worked for Chrysler however they are difficult to find on Chryslers “star parts” program. I might be able to ask my friend to look it up and if I can get the part number than I’ll let you know
My compressor will not turn on at all, checked the fuse and relay.
Hey there, so the compressor relay is controlled by the air ride control module located under the seat, there is a possibility of the module not commanding the relay on. there is also a ground wire at the right rear side of the frame that could be broken. does the truck have any fault codes in the system? i would start there, it will give you a direction to go in.
@@Tech-28 no it is not throwing any codes. Just coming up on the dash, service air suspension immediately
@@derekteyler6030 what scanner are you using? you will have a code i guarantee it.

POS CHRYSLER DODGE , LIKE I'M SO PISSED
Thank you so much Tech28 for this video and all your observations, but please anyone checking out this video don't try to do it on your own. Best advice is: TAKE IT TO CHRYSLER. Trust me, even if you are able to change the front and rear springs on your own, this air suspension system is very complicated and you need to know way too many things to get it going and have very top tech computers to do it properly. Even mechanics at Chrysler they are set into groups so no one mechanic can do the entire system. If you go on your own, you will end up spending a lot of time and money, and in the end with a huge knowledge that is not worth it, unless you are planning to keep your rig for many years. Best advice put a traditional set of shocks and springs, and forget about this Air Suspension, Take it to Chrysler or have a lot of time to make it happen.
Damn, it's junk
