Follow along as a Monroe suspension conversion kit is installed on a 2013-2018 RAM 1500 truck. For a complete four-corner repair, be sure to purchase these three Monroe part numbers: 90028C1 (front right strut assembly), 90028C2 (front left assembly) and 90028C3 (rear coil springs, shock absorbers, spring isolators, jounce bumpers). From removing and installing the front assembly to disabling the air suspension service message (do not remove the F87 fuse), each step is covered. Didn’t buy Monroe’s conversion kit but for anyone looking to tackle this job I would 1000% recommend this video, made the job so much easier! Took about 4 1/2 -5 hours start to finish! Very well done Monroe! Thank you!
It is a great video. My luck, it would take me 4 1/2 - 5 weeks and then I would have to call a wrecker to come pick it up to have it done by a professional.😁
It's actually pretty straightforward, need a good jack, stands, impact and some wretches. Took me about 6 hours in the driveway. I have moderate mechanical experience
@@DMN902 I built my own kit when I swapped the air ride out of a rebel two years ago. 4 1/2 hours for me but I also had help and some machinery to help lift the truck up a bit higher to make installing the coil springs in the back easier
This type of work is a cake walk for me.
Using this video as I’m doing the conversion right now and I just got to say that rear upper strut bolt is a real bastard.
Good to know 👍. I just bought this kit today and should get it in a week.
Any other pain in the ass things I should expect?
@@Mr1eyeScott crawling under the truck to torque stuff once the truck is back on the ground can suck but that probably depends on how big you are, I’m a large dude and I’m not a big fan of tight spaces.
Any special tools to recommend? Thanks in advance.
@@stopdalies only the 21mm bent wrench. If you have an assortment of impact tools, they do make it alot easier
I did put a 3" leveling kit on while I was at it. Because I didn't take off the axle nut from the CV axle I had to pry very hard to get the strut over the bottom control arm. I pulled the CV axle apart on the inside and I couldn't get it to go back in and ended up buying a new one.
Also if you bought the module that turns off the Service Air Suspension message, its is easy to install and follow the instructions. BUT DO NOT take out the fuses like it shows at the end of the video, because I did and the message kept showing up. Then when I put the fuses back in, it went away.
@@Mr1eyeScott will keep this screen shot so I can look at it. Thank you for your advice.
Doing the Kit exactly as video.Less the lift.Front -L was 1st had to use long metal concrete pole to dislodge the upper ball joint as pickle forks did not work. Was a real tough nut.was also very heavy to lift new strut up and have holes align.Used a 2x2 19" to hold down so it would fit in .Not as easy as video. But very doable for the reg guy.On to pass side today with my tips i learned.
We installed the conversion kit and removed the mentioned fuses and relay while batterie connected and remove battery connection and reconnect. But still We are getting a air suspension warning at start up still. Any advise? How we can remove the service air suspension warning? Thank you
Alpha obd
Fallowed the directions to the T still have service air suspension . Had to put a fuse back in because I lost my towing breaks any info to get the notification off ? I have the Alfa obd if anyone has tips ?
Where did the bolt that holds the brake line go at 9:51 in the video?
Excellent video! They should all be made this way. Keeps things very simple. A narrator just complicates things.
Excellent instruction video of this job.
Can you leave the ride sensor in place and tape the air lines only?
Can you leave the stock bumper stops? they seems to have the same length in the kit i ordered ...
Does this kit work for eco diesel? I would think that you might need heavier coils? Thanks
I did it to my eco.
My bumper stops are still touching the axle (I left the original in place). I am wondering if it is normal. I am no mechanic and it took me 2 days with the few tools tha I have. I do not know what happened but after 24h everything seems good.
Did you bottom out alot ? I installed this kit and left my factory bump stops on. I bottom out alot in the rear.
Did anybody find their truck sitting lower than when you had normal height air suspension? Some Amazon review stood they're truck sits low with this installed.
I did I also bought a leveling kit for the front and spring bags for back I’m 7 1/2 “ on front and 7 1/2 on the back .
@@hondaracer304joey I did a leveling kit and turned out perfect!

@@hondaracer304joey hi, which spacers did you use for this(size)? Are 20in factory rims looking proportional to that height?
@suzanneheroux1300 u have to cut off the extension for stopper and install the one that came with kit. It does ride and sit the same. Actually better than that crap air suspension. I have 2015 rebel. Worked perfect
What did u do with the compressor for the air suspension
I'm sure they just left it alone.
There's better kits out there that won't require missing the rear bump stops. And there is a better way to get ride of the error message and the cluster info for air ride.
How did u remove. I have obd2 and still keeps coming back. Thanks
Why do they sell modules for $400+ to keep warning lights off when you can just take all them fuses out. Do the lights come on after you take all them fuses out?
I heard just taking the fuses out, does not solve that message. AirDelete will rent you a programmer, but only if you buy their kit. You get your deposit back on the programmer, once you return it.
Would this same video work if it’s an air delete and lift kit combo?
Yes
the rear spring did not seat properly on my ram 1500 2013. And it did not fit the 2 inch levelling kit as well. Is that normal?
Hi Cudam, our tech team would be happy to help you with this. You can reach out to them at 1-800-325-8886. They are available Monday - Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (CST), Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (CST).
Would this monroe conversion kit work for a 2015 Ram EcoDiesel ?
Hello, there is a part number just for the rear coils, not for the whole rear kit please? Thank you!!!:)
Do you have to drain the nitrogen system? If so how do you do that?
no. nitrogen makes up about 80% of our atmosphere just vent it
Ive been told by a shop that this proceedure would take 10-12 hours. Does that sound correct?
Took me 8 hrs in my garage with a floor jack and 2 jack stands
Sounds like a bullshit to waste your money
3 hours rear 4 for the front. But that also included a burger and some beers.
4 and half hours with neumatic tool, good jack
Does it throw codes?

Doubt I’ll get a response but this won’t affect towing or bed capacity of the truck
Get you some Airlift 1000HD on Amazon. They are about $130. Airbags that go inside the coil spring and you can manually increase or decrease the psi depending on what you are towing
i would love to do this... but once i do all that would there be a warning light anylights
I heard yes. AirDelete will rent you a programmer, but only if you buy their kit. You get your deposit back on the programmer, once you return it.
This will also work for a 2017 rebel I’m assuming ?
I have the same truck, did you us it?
Please do a Jeep Grand Cherokee conversion . Nice work
Did anyone have to do alignment afterwards?
Yes
Absolutely
I need this done how do I get in touch with these guys?
I have a 2015, mine looks different. wth.
We installed the conversion kit and removed the mentioned fuses and relay. We are getting a air suspension warning at start up still. Any advise?
I have the same question any luck with getting the message off and can you buy cover buttons for the up and down that we deleted??
@@laughingatourlife I am about to do this conversion on my truck and my best guess is that you (if you have a WiTech 2.0 subscription) will need to call the dealer and give them the VIN and tell them to remove the sales code for the ASCM (SER seems to be the code according to TSB 08-051-16). Assuming they do it when they say they will, it should be available in the cloud to download to the truck within ~30 minutes.
At least this is how it works with adding the WCM/WIreless Control Modules to FCA vehicles, or the LPL/Pickup Box Lighting for the Rams. I assume that deleting should be similar to this.
I just looked in Tech Authority for my VIN and it says SERS is the Air Suspension, 4-Corner. Either way, I will call the dealer and let them know to remove SER/SERS and hopefully it works. Will update if it does. Still planning to pull fuses as well.
Try using ALFA OBD to remove the feature from the PCM.
My warning message comes on every time I start the vehicle for a few seconds and then goes away.
What does this system cost ? Thanks Spooln272
Do you have to remove the old jounce bumper or can you leave that there?
Left mine no issues using this kit.
@@hondaracer304joey any issues since making this comment? I bought the kit today and should get it in a week. Didn't really understand the point in cutting off the old bumper if it's still good.
@@Mr1eyeScott I left my stock ones on as well no issues 🤷🏻♂️
Do you guys have a noise over hard bumps? Like bottoming out in the rear going over hard bumps at higher speeds?
Can I use any strut or does it have to be a conversion kit
Reading some forums, I think you can use any strut. But I’d do some more research tho
@@yoloxxjd1 did you find any info on this yet?
How much does this cost
$500 on Amazon. I just did mine
@@vinnysotelo7729 what brand did you find on Amazon
@@kennethlovett1010 this same exact Monroe kit
@@vinnysotelo7729 Ok! My RAM has dropped air suspension sucks
@@kennethlovett1010 same exact reason I replaced mines also. The compressor costs $550. The front air bags cost $330 each and the rear ones $180 a piece. It was cheaper for me to change them out to coil springs and add some airlift 1000HD to the rear coils. They're only $140 on Amazon and can just manually inflate them when you need to haul heavy loads
Does this get rid of all service lights for air suspension?
No.
You have to flash the computer to Uninstall the air ride system.
how do you flash it? with a ecu remap or a good scanner?
I heard just taking the fuses out, does not solve that message. AirDelete will rent you a programmer, but only if you buy their kit. You get your deposit back on the programmer, once you return it.
Alphaobd
Can you install a lift kit after this?
Yes, But if you want a lift kit, this would be the time to do so. Front is usually a preload spacer on the front struts ( or lift spacer bolted on top) & spacers on rear coil springs, un less you are going a 6" kit which is a different setup with way more pieces.
Wait do you need to buy a conversation to install a 4 inch lift kit??
@@davidc9687 no, you probably need to buy some new control arms. You can still buy a 4” spacers and go with your stock upper control arms, but many people recommend not doing so
What size is the backside bolt? Where you used the bent wrench
21 mm
When removing the fuses, i lost my trailer brake controller.
Is there a different way without losing trailer brake?
Hi Rob, our tech team would be happy to help you with this. You can reach out to them at 1-800-325-8886. They are available Monday - Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (CST), Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (CST).
Put the F87 10A fuse back in. This will keep the trailer brake controller working. The system warning won’t stay on and everything works great.
@@anthonym6 I'll have to try that later. Thanks for the tip!
