    Thank you very much for doing a step by step process to replace the fuel pump. I’m homeless and living in my car with my dog, this video was very helpful in assisting me to the swap without any issues. I very much appreciate you.

    • @MrVickers13
      @MrVickers13 Před 2 lety +16

      @@JoseGomez-wt4fo A phone comes with internet and, you may not know this, but a phone is much cheaper than a house or apartment. Homeless people can have money and a job and just not be able to afford a place to live. They may have lost everything but their phone and their car. I say this as someone who lived their car for 3 months. My top priority was keeping my phone service on. Without a phone you lose all contact with the world, job opportunities vanish, and you just spiral deeper into that world.

    Glad I found this vid and watched all the way. The Fuel Pump I got, had the same issue. The top connector would fit, but would not fully seat. Had you not made mention of it in your vid, I would have chalked it up to being a DOA part. Used the top piece from the original and all worked good.

What I’m going to do different is: I’m going to vacuum everything under the seat before taking the seat out , that way I don’t take the risk of anything such as dirt , coins , etc. going into my gas tank.
    Thank you again.

    Since you had a jumper, you could have put power and ground to fuel pump see see if was working. Easier than pulling the whole fuel pump to the assembly to find out it was a circuit issue the whole time. People often swap the pump only find out the relay under the hood is bad.

The top of the new feul pump may not work, use the top of the oem fuel pump you took out if the new one does not fire up. When you turn the car over before you turn it on you will be able to hear the pump make a sound of no sound it's not pumping switch the new top of the electric fuel pump woth the old one then try turning over almost 3 times should crank on their try

    ** MECH A NIC , My moms car is starting to occasionally hesitate during driving and sometimes wont start up but has plenty of battery power and turns over fine and then starts. This is most likely what is going on ( failing fuel pump ) which you show very well in you video tutorial. 1 question tho ? Do these cars (2007 Charger) have a separate fuel filter somewhere I can change first ?

    • @themechanic6117

    Instead of checking the coil throw some throttle body cleaner is the throttle body and if it runs it’s the fuel pump or fuse/relays check fuses first

    The new one should've had a corresponding connector that you had to splice in. It's an update and upgrade to the factory connector

      Sergio Muñiz if it drives fine most of the time it probably isn’t the problem. Also put your ear down on the rear seat cushion driver side and plug your other ear while a helper turns the key from off to run. You will hear the pump for a very short time and then you most likely won’t hear it after that. If you hear it come on, it’s most like fine. The intermittent stalling issue is electrical. Don’t let anybody sell you a bunch of unnecessary parts. First disconnect the battery. Then go around and disconnect, clean, sand to good raw clean metal, and reconnect all ground straps. There are two near the battery in the trunk and several under the hood. Then disconnect, clean with high quality electrical cleaner like DeoxyIt, use dielectric grease on the connection, put back together, and repeat for every connector you can get to. The PCM is under the passenger side cowl at the base of the windshield. The little plastic grille looking part co es off with a body clip remover and the PCM is held in place with one bolt and comes right out. Disconnect, clean, reconnect. Be careful on all the connectors to unlock them properly, usually there is a tab that slides to unlock. Also don’t stress the connectors where the wire goes into the connector too much. The TIPM is under your underhood fuse block and if you’re brave enough, clean those connectors also. The infrastructure of the car is very interdependent and any little glitch in a connector that matters, which is almost all of them, can cause the engine to shut down. It’s all about self preservation as far as the computer and drivetrain are concerned. Of something doesn’t seem right to the system, it shuts down to hopefully prevent catastrophic engine or transmission failure . Notice how the car starts right back up after it shuts off? Glitch shut it down. Like your computer at home, if it doesn’t like what’s going on, shut it down and when it refreshes, all of the ills have been at least temporarily wiped away. But they can come back, and who knows when. My 06 Magnum RT started shutting off after about 160,000 miles, and was furiously intermittent. I went through the above described procedure except I haven’t done the PCM or TIPM yet but it has not shut off yet since then, except once when I drove it hard and got it hot and high G force maneuvers were involved and finally it shut off. I still do not have an absolute solution but I am narrowing it down. I am convinced that for all of these videos about thenLX cars shutting down and people replacing parts and it seems to fix the problem at least temporarily is simply because when you replace the part, you have to disconnect it and my theory is that just doing that might help with an intermittent connection enough to at least temporarily fix the problem. Let me know if these things help. I’m on a mission to get to the bottom of this issue.

    How does the top part fit on the old pump, when the wiring is it different on the replacement pump. Chrysler had a problem with putting the positive and negative together on the old pumps which failed overtime with a burnt connector, I'm going to try it your way and not use the replacement harness that came with mine. Because it doesn't fit the new pump, though they recommend it should be rewired to that?

    The overall repair is mostly the same from 2009 - 2014, but the parts absolutely do not interchange between model years or engines. You must get the correct part for your year and engine. Dont just believe the parts guy when he tries to tell you they all interchange, because they do not.

    I put in the pump the top plug in on the drivers side was my issue also. However the connector does fit and you can use the new top. If you look at your connector you will see a plastic piece inside. It can be any color you need to get some channel locks and squeeze the two pieces together it will click and lock as it should. When it is locked you will not see any part of the colored piece it will only be white.
