I like the direction they went with this boot. It looks slimmed down with the 270 degree welt, white contrast stitching and toe cap break up the vamp nicely and all eyelets is the way to go in my opinion. Still waiting for Color 8 to come back in stock in my size, hopefully by fall.
I desperately want this makeup to return because they are the ones that work best for my personal style. I don’t love their approach to this boot in that primarily use it to play around with “fun” leathers such as kudu or wooly suede leather. I’d love to see more traditional leathers with such a refined boot pattern.
I like these a lot as well, better than the diesel and Edward. I personally think you COULD wear something like this with a more casual suit like grey or tweed. The brogue cap toe Oxford may be the standard, but a brogue cap toe derby boot with a blacked out sole is pretty close.
@@almostvintagestyle yeah, after I typed the above, I realized I wore engineers with a suit an posted it on Instagram, but that was mostly a joke. 😁 I usually wear a pair of Allen Edmonds wingtip brogues that’s a derby style boot. I don’t see much difference.
I'm bias as well, I own 14 pairs two of them in the Garrison, green and the fuzzy ones. Waiting for the restock of the #8. These are going head to head with Viberg, at a fraction of the price. These would be to die for if they were stich down, speed hooks and a leather sole. Tell your wife to pass it on to Wyat.
GS diesel was my first GYW boot and would have been perfectly happy with them if I didn’t go down the boot rabbit hole. Many Whites, Nicks, Lofgren, and indo boots later I still own a couple and recommend them all the time. Can’t go wrong and they are a great outfit to deal with.
Great review. Thanks for doing a detailed review of the Garrison, which of course is harder to find info on compared to the Diesel. Thanks for sharing!
Garrison is a gorgeous design. I'm also a huge sucker for a BCT which is why I'm really pumped for my Paratroopers from WM Beijing who I think does a fantastic job.
@@almostvintagestyle I just find them to be a pain to put on and take off. You wear a lot of Engineer’s, so you must not like the hassle either, right? I do own like 7 pairs of Grant Stone boots and I find them to be great quality and easy to break in.
I love all my various 6 pairs of my Grant Stone boots/shoes. I'd love to see them make a new last with a higher heel and more arch. Something akin to a PNW 55 last.
Wow those boots that you took off your rack look awesome, that is a real boot , I wish GS make something like that but without the heel being that big.
Great review. Appreciate the disclaimer about your conflicts of interest. Your transparency sets your channel apart, frankly. GS look like nice, high quality boots. I'm not a "Made in China" hater, but I do have serious concerns about the Xi regime. Seems like GS set up shop when there was a relatively higher level of economic and political freedom, particularly in the special economic zones like Xiamen. And now that the Party under Xi is cracking down on freedom again, GS is kind of stuck. It would still be great if they quit doing business there until Xi is gone. But maybe that's not really possible, I don't know. In the meantime, I'd rather send my hard earned boot money to the PNW than the PRC.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm certainly no fan of Xi (nobody with a brain or heart should be,) but I think it's always good to support good businesses when you can. I do agree eith your points overall though.
Just received my second pair of GS. Still sticking by my point that they’re made better than most American Boots. They also ship and arrive extremely quick, it took 2 days from ordering to delivery but maybe that’s because I live in Michigan. I’d say my only issue with GS is that their designs aren’t that interesting to me.
Interesting. When they came out they seemed like distorted Vibergs, I didn’t like them at all. Now when i saw them with your wool trousers something clicked in. I still think to go for disel boots in near future after getting PTB or brougs, i find those incredible, mind blowing designs though they are not something new, but proportions on leather on last are just spot on. Same i feel for brass boots i all ready own.
I see no problem in acknowledging a boot your wife works for. Being exposed to something new on your end doesn’t signify bias in and of itself. Just means you were given a new perspective like the rest of us experience.
Jake, yes, Grant Stone the brand speak and stand up above the rest in quality, price, value. Like you, the Garrison along with the rest of the styles, ideal for our daily use and feel of the day. Now it's a matter of availability and leather. Nice video, and more videos like on fedoras, vintage jackets, clothes...
I have 20 pairs of Viberg boots and one pair of Grant stone. The Grant Stones will be given away while I look forward with great enthusiasm my next Viberg or whites purchase.
Just look up "WWII army wool field trousers" on ebay and other sites and they come up fairly easily. Just look closely at the condition and actual sizing. They run a little small
I prefer my White’s C355 Loggers and have never taken an interest in any foreign or domestic service boot. Do you have any thoughts on Trophy Clothing of Japan? I bought my grail leather jacket from them: The Ranger W
Love these boots but it’s a shame that they mostly have them in the mini lug outsole. I think these in a black or natural color would be killer. But with the dainite sole.
Jake since you have connection to GS people , please tell them to come up with a boot that is tough rugged similar to Truman boots , the Diesel is nice but if they beef up that diesel boot , it would be a hot sell because all of there boots are dressy to slight casual .
Jake lets be honest here , i saw your style of boots because you show and review them , so that garrison bot doesnt fit tour style , its way to dressy . Keep up the good work , and your video quality is great .
Nice boots but not for me , 100% dress boots and small amount of casual side to it . Give me boots for rugged look and nice with jeans and jacket . Hey like all your video reviews by the way. Oh one more , those are to dressy and my preference look is the brass boot and all of truman boots .
Nice to see Indiana Jones endorsing Grant Stone😊
Strong IJ vibes today! But its an iconic look for a reason ;)
Haha I'll take that as a compliment😁

Agreed. The 270 welt, eyelet choice, and brogue cap toe really elevate this boot
I desperately want this makeup to return because they are the ones that work best for my personal style. I don’t love their approach to this boot in that primarily use it to play around with “fun” leathers such as kudu or wooly suede leather. I’d love to see more traditional leathers with such a refined boot pattern.
I assume that they will start to release more standard leathers in this boot soon
Those GS are nice but for me Truman makes the best looking boot and also makes a very high quality boot.
Glad you like them
I like these a lot as well, better than the diesel and Edward. I personally think you COULD wear something like this with a more casual suit like grey or tweed. The brogue cap toe Oxford may be the standard, but a brogue cap toe derby boot with a blacked out sole is pretty close.
Yeah I may be a little more conservative with suits
@@almostvintagestyle yeah, after I typed the above, I realized I wore engineers with a suit an posted it on Instagram, but that was mostly a joke. 😁

Totally concur. I wear similar boots with suits all the time!

Yeah I dig the design and yes WM looks like they do an amazing job
Love this badalassi color!
Me too. I just love Badalassi in general
I like the color and the brogue cap toe, but I generally dislike boots with no speed hooks. It’s why I prefer the Parkhurst brand.
Totally fair

Yeah that would be pretty cool, but that would be quite a departure for them.

Too bad when i wanted to get it, its all sold out. I hope they will resupply with this leather again. I'm just not that into CXL.
Yeah I hope so as well. I'm not a CXL guy either
Bought a pair in chromexcel # 8, great looking boot in stunning leather. Bought in the sale but £105 import duty to UK. Ouch!!
Yeah imports to Europe are a pain

Kemo Sabe - where can I find those old school wool military uniform style trousers? Signed, Lieutenant Colonel, USMC (Retired)
Just look up "WWII army wool field trousers" on ebay and other sites and they come up fairly easily. Just look closely at the condition and actual sizing. They run a little small
Do you get lost wondering how to use your Vanna White hands? Good job! I ordered my first pair of Grant Stones yesterday!
Lol yeah I think I was missing my squares here🤣
I prefer my White’s C355 Loggers and have never taken an interest in any foreign or domestic service boot.
Do you have any thoughts on Trophy Clothing of Japan?
I bought my grail leather jacket from them:
The Ranger W
Trophy seems pretty interesting and I think they deserve more attention outside of Japan
how would you compare them value wise to the Brandle 1925 boot?
Much higher value here based on what I've seen, but I haven't tried the Brandle boots. I just don't see the value proposition in Brandle at all.
Park ranger standard issue uniform is now dressy hahahaha
Lol these are the times we now live in🤣
I wish they made diesels with single backstays like the garrison.
Same
Great clicking on your pair!
Yeah they really nailed it
Romancing the Stone…boots 😂
Lol good one🤣
@@almostvintagestyle you just made my day.
I have the crimson kudu, very nice boots
Yeah thats a gorgeous leather
Fact is yes the nailed it if you want dressy boots. If don't care for dressy then this boot is a big pass..
Yes I'd agree. They're great for what they are
Great video!
Thank you!
"they are pretty much the best value for the money boot out there".... together with Parkhurst, Thursday, Meermin and many others
I wouldn't agree with all of those, but will agree with Parkhurst. My experience with Truman and Thursday weren't great

I think they do
I hope they bring this makeup back. Not a fan of the lug soles on the other colorways.
Let's hope! I do like this sole on this boot model a lot
@@almostvintagestyle Knowing GS they'll throw a curve ball and make one with a wedge sole 😆
i wish speed hooks were never invented. boots look way better without them imo
Edit: plus i much prefer a 360 welt every time.
Yeah speed hooks don't look as nice and they tear up my laces sometimes
Nice
Thank you!
Hello. Where did you purchase the boot rack from?
That looks like an ikea bookshelf
It is indeed!
No speed hooks screams to dressy for me , I will pass . I hope GS reads some of these comments and start making some beefier
manly boots
Yeah no speed hooks is dressier, but I prefer it on this model
Lol no one is going to lift up your pant leg and check the top 2/3 eyelets for speedhooks at a formal event unless your inseam is shorts territory
@liljuanito123 wrong you are, I wear my jeans cuffed so top of the boot shows .
