Feeding Hummingbirds & Searching for the Mystical PATOO in Jamaica! 🇯🇲

  • I’m back in Montego Bay Area visiting the Rocklands Bird Sanctuary for a special tour! Today Fritz is taking me on an early morning hike to see some birds that only exist in Jamaica. I was so fortunate to be able to see a “Patoo”, Jamaica’s only owl, as well as get to hand feed Doctor Birds and Jamaican Mango hummingbird. Make sure to turn your sound UP! We also see an interesting herb that some birds are attracted too, as well see the ruins of one of the first Caterpillars ever made.
To visit the sanctuary please see / rocklandsbirdsanctuary
    bless up,
    Matthew
The Patoo Chocolate Company I mentioned, just google search "Patoo Chocolate".
    More about doctor birds here!
“The doctor bird or swallow tail humming bird (Trochilus Polytmus), is one of the most outstanding of the 320 species of hummingbirds. It lives only in Jamaica.
These birds’ beautiful feathers have no counterpart in the entire bird population and they produce iridescent colours characterstic only of that family. In addition to these beautiful feathers, the mature male has two long tails which stream behind him when he flies. For years the doctor bird has been immortalized in Jamaican folklore and song.
    The Meaning in the Name
The origin of the name ‘Docor-bird’ is somewhat unsettled. It has been said that the name was given because the erect black crest and tails resemble the top hat and long tail coats doctors used to wear in the old days. Other schools of thought believe that it refers to the way the birds lance the flowers with their bills to extract nectar.
According to Frederic Cassidy the bird is an object of superstition. The Arawaks spread the belief that the bird had magical powers. They called it the ‘God bird’, believing it was the reincarnation of dead souls. This is manifested in a folk song which says: “Doctor Bud a cunny bud, hard bud fe dead”. (It is a clever bird which cannot be easily killed).”

but I think you need to learn more about the black history. White man created the bible to control the masses of people on the globe .... if you ask any indigenous group on earth if they believe in the bible majority still say no. For me personally I believe Muslim religion is the closest thing related to our maker if there is 1

2:09 that's what happens when you plant at the wrong time of the year. Please only plant near the beginning of the growing season. The plant was stunted because there are not enough hours of light in the day. This caused the plant to go straight into bloom. Unfortunately, this is going to be the biggest it will get. Just one small bud. The reason it's bad is because... it's basically wasting genetics. If you grow a really good genetic, you only have a blunt worth tops. If it were grown much earlier, you could have several Oz to pounds of that same great genetic. When you grow from male on female seeds you cannot predict exactly how the genetics will play out. Even when the plants are the same breed. You can get a good idea, but not exact.
