- In this bonus episode I'm just reminding everyone about the 'Modifications & Requests' pdf - for a couple of reasons. The first being that I haven't mentioned it for a while (and some folks might not be aware of it) - but also because I've added some base textures recently (which I talk about during this video :) ).
Anyway, here's the link to the pdf file as it stands at the moment (as I say in the video, I add new pages every now and again - but it's currently 29 pages long):
drive.google.c...
And here's the link to the article (about the plastic toys that influenced D&D) over on Tony DiTerlizzi's website (which is well worth checking out):

And I'm willing to bet, these work just perfectly with the figures you've created as print and build creatures! Thanks for this extra sheet; I appreciate all the work you share with us.
Yeah... any miniatures really... maybe even to base some scatter terrain if folks really wanted to :)
The bases do make a big difference.
Thanks Kris. I like he occasional bonus video provided you have the time.
Ive used toys for almost the whole time I've been a DM for my players. its a very effective way to get miniatures at a low coast. Also, i wanted to express my thanks for the file you included here, your stuff helps me out so much in my dungeon creation.
No probs. (and yeah - cheap toys have been used since the dawn of the hobby - I'd actually love to get hold of some of the original ones that were mentioned in that article I linked to... maybe even splash some paint on them too :) ).
Thanks for the video! And thanks for the base textures! Repurposing toys and minis from other games is fun and useful to any DM's collection.
Yeah... bugs are bugs at the end of the day... so they don't always need to be anything super fancy :)
fabulous creepy crawlies! my favorite channel, bar none. thanks again for all the wonderful things you’ve made and shared with us.
Thanks... and no probs (glad to hear that you're still enjoying the content :) :) :) ).
Nice and simple!
A very minor detail you can do is to run a black marker along the edge to hide the cut.
Nice idea, I love to see nice bonus video from time to time ;)
Time to run to the dollar store and see what my players will be facing this week!
Love it! Thanks for making this video. I bought a pack of black plastic ants, myself, years ago. I started basing them, but stopped: they're so tough (low AC), and appear in such large numbers that they would pretty much wipe out low- to mid-level PC parties, they just seem too tough. The Giant Bees/Wasps are intriguing. I had a party visit a tropical island, recently. The island was really deadly, with poisonous snakes, spiders, and other critters. It would have been perfect for Giant Bees/Wasps, as well. Unfortunately, I've never found good toys for them. I love how you used Hot Glue stick bits for bases for the Giant Bees -- brilliant! Stealing that idea... Cheers!
I'm probably going to come up with some custom stats for the ants (and use them as 'tiny' creatures in D&D5e terms) - so that they can be used en masse. I'll then use the 'book' stats for giant ants just for the queen... as that one is listed as being a 'large' creature :)
I use 4e style rules for large groups of "minions."
TLDR; set HP =1. Don't keep track of all that HP. Any hit kills.
Great tip about halloween stuff. There are usually tons of crap sold out right after that holiday that would make great just put on a base.
Indeed... it's a great time to pick up giant spiders especially :)
I've been using your dungeon floor texture with a 1 inch hole punch for my Printed miniatures that has been working well. I did wonder how I was going to do the bigger beasts, and now you've fixed that! :D
If you don't mind me asking - what brand of punch do you use... and do you think it would punch through 1 or 2mm card? (as it's something I've been meaning to look into).
@@CrookedStaffTerrain to be honest, I just use it to punch through 120gsm cardstock for the 1 inch bases. then I glue the cardstock to a 1 inch washer for weight for my minis. Washers are super cheap (I got them for less than $5AUD). The 1 inch hole punch that I use I bought quite a few years ago, and I can't work out what brand it was. It was just a cheap one. I looked back at the likely places I bought it from, but they only have Fiskars brand now.
@@celebkiriedhelThanks for checking anyway :)
They look great! Shared it to my X feed.
Great idea.
Thanks a lot! I think the dungeon community always appreciates your great ideas
No problem!
You are the best, my man. Keep the good work!
Will do!
Am i aware of the bonus pdf? mate everytime you do a video i check it out, i love the bonus pdf, its so versatile!
That's good to know :)
I bet you could actually make a little dungeon just using that pdf... hmm... that might be a little challenge I'll have to attempt at some point 🤔
Yes plz!! More anything.
& thx for...well... everything.
❤❤❤
No probs. :)
And a radioactive sign. That would be sick.
Excellent stuff as always. I've quite a collection of repurposed toys which I will now base.
May I ask where you got the bugs from?
I got these particular ones from (UK) ebay.
Here's the link: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115182400146?var=415561303532
the look very good, at least in the video, maybe the bees are ones in need of some paint to make them more legit, but they do look good too.
Thanks. I am kinda tempted to touch a few up here and there... but like I say, I've go so many proper mini's in my pile of shame that I should concentrate on them really :)
Do you have an octagonal room? I have an idea for a dungeon where the players have to choose from 8 possible paths.
If you don't mind doing a bit of measuring, you should be able to cut a floor tile into any shape you like (making sure to leave a half-inch border for the walls).
More Cavern - Cave - Mine tiles. Spaceship tiles
There's lots on the to-do list - but I'm currently working on some carts/wagons :) (you can see some prototypes in the community tab if you're interested).
Would you consider adding a different sci fi barrel color to the modifications? Please?
I see what I can do when I have time.
In the meantime, if you need something quick, then there is a tutorial on my blog showing how you can change the colours just using free software:

@@CrookedStaffTerrain oh ok nice. Thanks!
Love your stuff! I think I remember another video where you described what the many of textures on the mods pdf were made for. I’ve printed some sheet and forgotten what it’s for! What is the title of that video?
