    What is the hack that's going to make a system sound twice as good. All I saw was a switch device for speakers and amps.

    There is a power switch. All you do is hold down the AMPLIFIER button for a few seconds and it turns off and on.

    Any advice on running field coils? 16 ohm woofers w/ attached horns through a 8ohm head unit. So, if i have a 4 channel unit would i need to run the speakers in parallel or series. Does the ohm load follow from channel to channel or is it divided by side generally?

  • @newsboyaudio

    I owned one of these, and I was to afraid to use it. The issue that has me worried is that it's possible it could damage an amp when the speakers switch. I've heard that some Amplifier designs are more of a problem then others. But a sudden swap of loads may not be good and entire disconnects are bad on Amplifiers. If the switch isn't good, both may happen.

    It might be worth mentioning that many vu meters get quickly limited with high efficiency speakers. My E202 barely moves the needles with my Valencias.

    Would love to run this setup with 2 Recievers and one Set of Speakers, but my Main Reciever is 180 per Channel, is that an issue?
    The other Recievers I have are 30 to 75 per Channel, the Main receiver will be the High Power with the other Recievers rotating through as the Mood Hits!

      @@JustAudioHiFi Hello. Hitachi is known to have meters units pretty nice looking too. My little 30wpc if I remember right so did my pal 10wpc had them and very small size.
      You know you not the only one right out of the box playing around to see what colors of lamp bulbs to tinker.
      Some feel that the cost of adding meters in there for a low cost build. That this money should of been added towards better parts for a budget unit VS looks that do sell.
      I wondering if adding a cap to stop the lights from dimming will do the trick or if can find a transformer model or two up the line up might work.Will hold on the peaks happen.
      Yes I'm still crazy

    What would you consider the best way to add a 2 channel pre or integrated to an AVR. I have already did the Parasound P6. It’s good but not great. Anthem has the STR pre, but that’s getting old and probably due for a refresh. I use Two SVS SB2000 pro subs. Newer subs don’t have speaker binding post anymore. How else can I add a good pre amp with HT bypass and still use subs That are connected through LFE on Anthem AVM 70.

    • @1337sim1
      @1337sim1 Před 2 měsíci

      I don't understand... Why do you need a preamp if you have an AVR? What's your goal?
      Usually people add a power amplifier to power their LCR and use the AVR to power the satellite speakers...
      How many speakers and subwoofers do you have or want? 🤔

    • @AT-wl9yq
      @AT-wl9yq Před 11 měsíci +2

      It depends on how revealing your system is. The average person will most likely hear no difference at all. But if you have an expensive, highly resolving system, you will probably hear some differences, but you can't know for sure unless you try it.
      If you just want the meters, don't put in the signal path. Run signal to it from a tape loop or an extra set of preouts.

  • @jr1479

    Have you guys tried the AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC's (usb)? I'm using the headphone jack on my laptop, but heard good things about it.

    • @AT-wl9yq
      @AT-wl9yq Před 11 měsíci

      I have one and its OK. It won't really compete with higher end dacs, but if you are just going from the outpot on your laptop, you should notice a big difference. Its not just a dac. Its also a headphone amp, so you're actually upgrading 2 components, not one.

  • @vintageaudioreview

    The VU3 works well; however it adds a 1dB boost to the signal at 20Hz and .5dB boost at 100Hz. I have tested a few of them and they have the same problem.

    • @pnichols6500
      @pnichols6500 Před rokem +2

      A few of the receivers and tape decks in my early years of being serious about stereo systems, probably peaking with my 1975 Pioneer SX1050 and CTS 99A had VU meters. So I have always had an affinity for VU meters (especially adding to the ambiance of black lights and lava lamps).
      I currently have a couple of systems set up, and with my "expensive" system, I just can't bring myself to add anything in between the amp and speakers.
      I am tempted to get these meters for my wife's system though! (she's too nervous to use my set up, thank goodness)

    • @AT-wl9yq
      @AT-wl9yq Před 11 měsíci

      There's really no reason to do that. Listen to it both ways and use the taps that sound best. Unless you are upgrading or making changes to your system, there is no reason to switch back and forth.

      @@4leggedfurball I've got 160W per channel Class A-A/B amp, and a 25W per channel tube amp (in Triode more).
      I can easily rattle the walls with Klipsch Heresy IV's using the tube amp about 1/2 volume.
      I don't have a way to measure the watts used, but with sensitive speakers, 10 watts will rock pretty good.
