i love hifi since 1967, but never have a pair od bose. Many times I wanted to buy 501, or even 301, as I have multiple, but feeling the sound is a bit rough. I remember in the 70s there is a consumer report magazine, or another magazine, that for years ranked 901 as the best speaker. To bad I never get to audition a pair in depth, so until today no idea how the sound is, although often there are used pair available at relatively cheap price. No Right To Repair with Bose. As an electronics technician, I dread Bose because there's no support: no service data, no replacement parts, no nothing. I perform a triage on them, some can be repaired, some can be repaired only if we have a cadaver to get proprietary parts from, some could be fixed if we could get a schematic and alignment notes, which, of course, we can't.

I've got one of these, they are very pretty, almost a jukebox look. If you're looking for a good decoding unit for SQ skip this one though, it's just the basic 1st Sony iteration SQ decoder, also on the SQP-400(A). The later model 4750, 6750, and 8750 have a better decoder, almost identical to the SQD units.

I own a set of 4311B and I am looking at a set of L100As that are available locally, not that I think they are the best speakers ever made, I own them because I like the way they sound wired up to my relatively low power Marantz receiver.

I just picked up a Model 200 & 2000 Series II this past weekend and had been doing some research on them. Probably will clean them up and sell them after some testing. Still own a Carver C-1 and M-1.0t of which both have been gone through and rebuilt with latest mods and upgrades...including remote volume/mute on the C-1. The C-1 has been my main preamp for about a decade now and the M-1.0t, and a DTL-200 CD player, have both been signed by Bob Carver. I was a Sunfire rep from 2003 till 2009 and we had an even with him there. He also worked on the CD player before signing it.

Will the 602 have the same power as the a-s801 in a listening environment, not just on paper? I mean is this receiver as powerful as a integrated amp, I have the 801

When I was 13-14 my sister moved in with her high school friend Sue after having my nephew. This had a lot of consequences. Sue's ex had money and in the divorce, she got the complete Phase Linear stack. The amp was that second-generation 700 series with the LEDs but I swear that in addition to the volume knobs, there were knobs to control the sensitivity of the LED response. I can't remember the speakers but the whole system probably weighed 50 pounds more than I did a the time. Because they had that system my sister gave me hers. So at 14, I was gifted a Marantz 2216b receiver, a nice Sansui turntable, and an Akai tape deck. Pretty sweet! I'm fairly sure that by the time I was a senior in high school, Sue would have sold that system to me for pennies or given it to me outright. She complained about moving it and she despised her ex. Oh, well.

I bought a pair of 901’s in 1979. They were paired with my Pioneer 180 watt per channel receiver. I was a bachelor and I could setup my apartment to accommodate the speakers. That was how you had to do it if you wanted them to sound great. And they did. I loved them. I got married in 1991 and I lost the power to control all interior decorating. So the 901’s had to go. I bought a Bose Acoustimas to replace them. Completely unsatisfying. I was told that I needed to set them up “right”. I believe I did. The sound was thin and directional. Their other products seemed to be designed to look good but not for versatility or performance. If I wanted just looks I could buy Bang & Olafson. So while I still like the Bose Bluetooth speakers I have, I haven’t bought anything else of theirs.

Had this Amp in receiver form Nad 7020,very unreliable. Took it back and got a demonstration. Denon even had remote. Would never own anything Nad again.

For me, it's not about the power. It's about the quality. I take great care and pride in the work I do. You have different approaches and I respect that because it's about what you enjoy. I've recently took my separate system appart, and rebuild them with better, more reliable parts, and after almost 50 years, it was time. It's better than when it left the factory all these years ago. I hear the difference, and it's huge. I do this with every audio device I have. So it's good for another 50 years, and my kids and grandkids will be able to use them as well. Both my daughters are into audio, they love music. It's important to transmit our passion.

I just sent my phase 400 and 4000 to carver products in Washington state. I loved it so much I paid over $2,000.00 to have everything gone thru and up graded. Got it back recently hooked it all back up. Just luv it once again Need help call Rolland at carver

I have a 1960's Lafayette receiver and a couple of other "off brand" receivers from a seller I don't read much about...Concept. I was so impressed with the build quality of my first Concept 2.5 that I bought a second one. It seems like a solid bit of kit, from brand I only recently learned about.

Bose commercial, and Bose consumer are entirely different kettle of fish. The industrial design, build quality and materials are very high. Where Bose consumer fails is that other brands of equal quality are much less expensive.

also like to refer that in trhe 80´s there were high end componentsn sold under is name ,"CARVER" i thought ,this guy is good all he made works flawlesslly ,well not after 40 years of working as it was ok for the next 10 years with luck ,meaning if all was handled like they explain in the manuals but everybody fells like a genius ,why read a manual they are all the same, also no one noticed that CARVER components were expensive ,"so i pay more because i´ll look rich "and after 10 years at the most all system failed and i´m in Europe not in the north of U.S. of A. as some say ,mexicans out of America ,while mexico is in America as texas and Califormia were mexican regions like the sub smart people might not notice that los angeles is a spanish word, or Tejas, a very nice album from ZZtop is the same of texas. don´t tell me that nobody heard of that and what about the spanish american wars in the early 20th century. So is it smart or a intelegent person, because i´m the retarted who spent money on a carver system, being European one has the tendencie to think that some regions of the U.S.of A. are like in Europe this refering to compormental behaviour, but no , having spent thousands of dollars the system worked and by ten years i had the "best" hi-fi system but never will work if a part is damaged ,the ones who sold it ,don´t have responsability because they had complains and the so called CARVER enterprise was nowhere to be found, closed is more acurate, but the series two from phase linear by Carver still work and what a quality of sound and if someone at night enters your house you can trow any phaselinear component to his head and out of work ,it is, the person(i added this because some might not understand what i ment)and Crown and SAE are US brands but still work so quality is not a US problem but maybe some shortcuts and one can´t start a brand without spending a fortune so one has to cut some "quality"to produce them . I myself was involved in a brand of hi-fi in early 80´s but mine is working a older friend of mine has one system and he told me ,"that piece of S... is still working and my grandsons want it,do you have anything extra at home?"to what i replied "we sold everything or we would had lost money and for some years i´ve been thinking of buying yours as it is the only i know where it is" INTERSOM or international sound and what a quality it had ,even the cheapest cassette deck was better than the most expensive that sony sold and to have some originality leds were vertical but technics had done the same on it´s early 80´s components(flop is what we call it), one even sugest we buy a lot of sony Esprit decks and put them inside our boxes and sold with Intersom brand and wi´ll win some money, the reason why some European brands have higher prices and if we open it it´s the cheapest integrated amplifier ever built because one can´t start a brand and have the already assembled system like the brand Sony wich is a empire ,they almost own everything and european branmds from the past cease to exist as their production costis less than 1/3 of ours by european laws where human workers need to eat everyday.

I have 4 PL400's, 1 PL400 Series 2, and one PL700 Series 2. All have been brought up to date with White Oak Boards, caps, light boards, and Watts Abundant Speaker relays. I also have other accessory units you mention. You did leave out the 5000 and 5100 FM tuners.. LOL. I rock a pair of JBL L7's with the PL700. It is amazing when fed with a high quality digital source.
