Well, at the time she was HIS wife. He was obsessed with her for years, but once he got her he treated her terrible. She came to regret leaving George for Eric, although he didn't treat her well either. She still says that George was the true love of her life.
He used to break a lot of guitar strings during concerts and while the band kept repeating the same bar over and over as he replaced the broken string the crowd would do a slow hand clap until the song resumed. Hence, he got the nickname Slow Hand.
I looked it up to see if I remembered correctly; Yardbirds' rhythm guitarist, Chris Dreja, recalled that whenever Clapton broke a guitar string during a concert, he would stay on stage and replace it. The English audiences would wait out the delay by doing what is called a "slow handclap". Clapton's nickname of "Slowhand" came from Giorgio Gomelsky, a pun on the slow handclapping that ensued when Clapton stopped playing while he replaced a string.[21] In December 1964, Clapton made his first appearance at the Royal Albert Hall, London, with the Yardbirds.[20] Since then, Clapton has performed at the Hall over 200 times, and has stated that performing at the venue is like "playing in my front room".[22][23]

This was among several songs written for Patti Boyd. She was originally Eric's best friend George Harrison (The Beatles) wife. She also inspired the Beatle song "Something" and then "Layla" from Eric who loved Patti from afar while she was married to George. When Patti and George eventually split, Eric and Patti did get together but did not stay together. Still she was the love of two of rock royalty and the inspiration for many songs. As a matter of fact much of Eric's album when he was with Derek and the Dominoes "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" had a pretty consistent theme of unrequited love or similar, for example; "Why Does Love Got to be So Sad" and "Have You Ever Loved a Woman", while not all were written for Patti on that album you can feel love and desire dripping from the whole thing. It's one of the best albums of all time and featured Duane Allman from the Allman Brothers as well.

We stood in front of the fireplace to say our vows and the ceremony lasted 9 minutes. What a wonderful night. 💖

Clapton's my favorite musician of all time. I hate this song. Mostly because people think it's 100% genuine sweetness, and swoon all over it. It's probably been mentioned, but Clapton wrote this--or at least started writing it--due to his wife driving him crazy by taking forever to get ready to go anywhere. She's come out of their room over and over with different outfits asking "Do I look alright?" and his reply was "Yes, you look wonderful; can we go?" It was during one such night that he started writing this. Anyway, if you read all that, here's some Clapton recommendations: "Layla" from Derek and the Dominoes (I'd say this over the Unplugged version, since it's got that great "unrequited love" pain in it), "Crossroads" from Cream for some of the best live guitar work the man ever did (the original album version, not the 2005 reunion), and "Old Love", your best bet being from a live performance somewhere in the 90's. Have a great day/night!

Eric Clapton played in the short lived rock group called Cream that started in the late 1960's. Here's how Cream was formed. Jazz at one time was the type of music young people went out to see and hear. That era ended in the 1950's when early stages of rock and roll came along in the 1950's. That's when musical acts such as Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis first appeared in the late 1950's. By that time Jazz was already on its way out for young people. By the late 1960's when the rock band Cream was formed clubs were taking advantage of people who they booked who played Jazz by paying them very little money and then when they played at these places large crowds would come to see them play. Drummer Ginger Baker stated that several Jazz musicians tried to make their sound more contemporary and the Jazz band that Ginger Baker played in was somewhat successful. So he then went a little further and formed his own rock band in order to make more money. Rock was one of the hottest types of music at the time and Ginger wanted to make much more money so he went looking for pop musicians who were good enough to keep up with the other two members who played Jazz or had the potential to learn the techniques that they used so that he could keep up with their playing. He said his plan worked. Two of the three musicians were Jazz musicians. The other Jazz musician was the bass player Jack Bruce who could play classical Cello. The guitarist was a much younger Eric Clapton who had never played Jazz and was a self taught guitarist from England where the other two were also from. He was one of the few rock guitarists who had the ability and was young enough to quickly learn the much more complex and harder to play Jazz techniques that they played. Eric Clapton states now that Jack Bruce taught him everything about playing. Eric said he knew next to nothing compared to what Jack knew. In the last 15 years Eric Clapton remembers the times Cream played before a live audience in the late 1960's as three soloists who were competing for the lead on any song. He said from the standpoint of the audience we must have sounded awful at best. To this day Cream is so different from almost any rock band that almost anyone has ever heard them since then don't get it and rate Cream as OK for the time for a rock band. Cream usually is rated at average at best compared to other rock bands from that ear such as Led Zeppelin. Yet those guys individually or as Cream could outplay any pop act that I'm aware of that became as big a hit as they were. That was due to two of the members being established professional Jazz musicians who could play the much more complex and difficult Jazz music compared to what is required for any pop song. Eric Clapton was the baby of the group and he had to learn much more about playing the guitar just to keep up with the other two. He was a very, very good rock guitarist. Now he describes himself as a Journeyman guitarist. At the time before Cream his nickname as a rock guitarist was God. To the two other bandmates, who played Jazz before forming the rock band Cream, the two Jazz musicians from Cream thought Eric was one of the few popular guitar players who had the potential to learn the techniques they knew from Jazz in order to keep up with their abilities playing Jazz in order to keep up with them playing in Cream and to quickly get up to speed to play with the other two. In hindsight Eric Clapton in the last 15 years stated that he is a Journeyman guitarist who learned almost everything from Jack Bruce who came from a background playing professionally in Jazz bands. Eric Clapton never learned to play Jazz but Cream drummer Ginger Baker said Eric had amongst the best timing he ever heard amongst guitar players. Good enough that he could play Jazz if he wanted to learn how to play it.
Would love to see you react to Eric Clapton's "We're All The Way." It's my favorite song by him, but it also happens to be very underrated. Lots of love and support!
Unfortunately, Eric has had to stop playing, he just doesn't have the dexterity anymore to play. Thank God we still can enjoy music from those who can't play it anymore, or have passed on.
@@robertreichle1 Ok, maybe it's that. I know he was having difficulty playing. I think some other guitar player was having problems too, but I can't remember who. Age affects everyone eventually.
My husband had been a minister for over 30 yrs and he always tells young men “ that if they want to be treated like a king then treat their wife as a queen.” Men need to feel love by showing respect and women by the little things you can do for them. For example, opening n closing doors from the car to the house, restaurant, etc. My husband bought me a snickers bar on his way home from work. He didn’t buy anything for himself but he knew I love snickers. That day was 42 yrs ago and although he continues do to the little things it is still my favorite memory! My sweetie even pulls out my chair at home for dinner, just the two of us! He’s the best man for me!
I am a big Clapton fan and this is one of my favorites. What woman doesn' t.His nickname is Slowhand. Keep listening to his music. He was in the band Derek and the Dominos too. Excellent!!!!
"Nobody know you when your down and out" by Eric Clapton. He isn't the original artist and it was actually written in 1923 by Jimmy Cox, but in my opinion, no one performs it better. One of my favorite blues songs ever.
In my younger years I had a love and this was our song. All these years later when I hear this song I think of him and that sweet romance we once had....thanks for doing this song!! Brought tears to my eyes.
First time I heard this song was 30 years ago. I'd been married 8 years to a lovely woman and she absolutely loved this song. Still together and we both still love this song, and it always reduces us both to tears because it's so damned beautiful. Been to so many parties together down the years, and this song just sums everything up for both of us.
This is the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding. When I was 17 he was watching me get ready to go out and this song came on. He said to me, "We're going to dance to this at our wedding," So we did. Still happy together for 31 years. :)
This is actually a song about possessiveness according to his own documentary! Marcy Levy sounds beautiful with the background vocals, She also wrote Lay Down Sally and her vocals along with Clapton's "chicken picking" style of guitar playing in that song is a must listen!
My wife and I have been together for 41 years now and she still is as beautiful today as she was when we met in a Disco in Germany.
David Leland my husband says that to me all the time..... in 43 yrs! Keep telling her , bc it makes us feel loved when we judge our image so much.

Layla has Duane Allman on slide guitar.
don't forget The Yardbirds
Layla was Eric Clapton with Duane Allman while playing with Derek and the Dominos
I also strongly recommend "The Core" from the Slowhand album. Easily in the top 5 of all Clapton songs.
Riding with the king, Old Love (unplugged)

Yes, it’s a must listen!
Layla would be awesome if he got to Derek and the Dominos.
One if my favorites also!

"Forever Man" is another great song by Eric Clapton.

Pattie is perhaps the greatest muse. Ronnie Wood wrote some Rolling Stone songs about her too.

Folks, is Jamel ready for “Crossroads” by Cream?! “Badge”? “Tales of Brave Ulysses”?
“Tales of Brave Ulysses” What a great song " Tiny purple fishes run laughing through your fingers".Just awesome.
One of the greatest love songs of the 20th century. Epic. 👍👏👏
Listen to "the core" or stormy monday blues, bell bottom blues or anything from Derek and the dominos
Gotta check out Layla by Clapton.
do you prefer the rock n roll version or the acoustic version from mtv unplugged ?
@@madmann5373 Anyoe who prefers the unplugged easy listening version should be drowned in a Porta Potty used at Sturgis.
@@madmann5373 rock and roll of course. I need to check out acoustic version though.
Would love to see you react to Eric Clapton's "We're All The Way." It's my favorite song by him, but it also happens to be very underrated.
Lots of love and support!
You are so expressive! I love watching your reviews and love your eclectic choices in music! Keep it up!
Also please react to Firefall "Strange way" "You are the woman" "Just remember i love you"
Unfortunately, Eric has had to stop playing, he just doesn't have the dexterity anymore to play. Thank God we still can enjoy music from those who can't play it anymore, or have passed on.
ffjsb Stop playing? he had gigs planned for this year, and he did in the months before the lockdown
@@scottcrosby-art5490 He is on his way to stopping. He said he has good days and bad and isn't sure when it will just be gone.
His European Summer 2020 Tour was interrupted by the Rona, & has been rescheduled for 2021. First concert is in May & tickets are on sale now.
@@robertreichle1 Ok, maybe it's that. I know he was having difficulty playing. I think some other guitar player was having problems too, but I can't remember who. Age affects everyone eventually.
Eric Clapton! Love him from the band Cream to this song decades later...sigh he is so good.
Finally.... Good old Slow Hand! Love Eric Clapton. His take on Have you Ever Loved a Woman.... The best.
Listen to the original “Layla” and then the MTV Unplugged version.
The original studio album by Derek and the Dominos was the classic best version
"Isn't it time." By the Baby's. Please?

And Bell Bottom Blues
I just really enjoy your take on ALL these songs I grew up with. Thanks for being here.
All of us who grew up with classic rock, love this song! 💛💛💛
This song was played at just about every wedding for a decade. You absolutely have got
This song was one of my favorites amongst Clapton's millions.
I am a big Clapton fan and this is one of my favorites. What woman doesn' t.His nickname is Slowhand. Keep listening to his music. He was in the band Derek and the Dominos too. Excellent!!!!
Beautifully written. Beautifully sung. Yes Eric!!
Personally, my favorite Eric Clapton song is "It's in the way that you use it". Definitely worth a listen
Jamal we need millions like you great smile great feel for music and a great human being.Keep being you and rock on.
This song was what my son and daughter and law had at their wedding for their first dance...Thanks so much for all of your reactions!
"Nobody know you when your down and out" by Eric Clapton. He isn't the original artist and it was actually written in 1923 by Jimmy Cox, but in my opinion, no one performs it better. One of my favorite blues songs ever.
The beauty of that song Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton is that he actually let her drive home think about it
In my younger years I had a love and this was our song.
My 1st husband requested this song at my best friends wedding and it was the only song we ever danced to. Still a favorite 20 something years later..
This song makes me think of my mum and step father when i was a kid. My mum was my hero and my step dad worshipped her.
Jamel you brighten my day. That's a gift to the world.
