I'm nearly 75 and as time goes by this music just stays - it's richness, beauty, talent, musicianship, and heart and soul never gets old. I look at these artists today, those who are still with us, and I see them growing older and it just seems surreal to me for I still see them as young as when I first heard them. Timeless!
I'm 73 & couldn't agree more...best wishes
Iam 65 and back in my bar days this was always the last song the band would play at closeing time. I have many wonderful memories of thoes last dances. Thanks for the memories.
This is one of my favorite Eric Clapton songs through I love almost all or perhaps all of his songs. This is just a beautiful song. He is so humble live. I have seen him a few times, alway a perfect show.
I've always loved this song, but never heard this live version. I agree - the vocal performance by Katie Kissoon was amazing!
Dang, that was gorgeous!
Yes young squire you got it right the first time ! There are many live versions but this one is the best .
I have seen EC 7x's over the the years including featuring the amazing and extremely fine Katie Kissoon including the night Stevie Ray Vaughn played his final show in Alpine Valley Wisc. Clapton was the headliner and Robert Cray was on before SRV .For the encore all three played joined by the great Hubert Sumlin and the legendary Buddy Guy and sent us Home with "Sweet Home Chicago " SRV died hours later in a helicopter crash
Layla should be listened to next. But you should do the studio version so you can hear Duane Allman’s blistering opening riff 👍🏼
suggest songs from the band Cream wit Eric Clapton on guitar, "Crossroads" and "Strange Brew", "Tales of Brave Ulysses"
Eric Clapton has covered all the bases started in the 1960s he was with that metal have psychedelic band cream and then he went on to a do another band Blind Faith and now such a beautiful song like this
This song and "Layla" by Clayton as part of Derick and the Dominos as well as George Harrison's song "Something" released on the The Beatles album "Abby Road'" were inspired by the same woman: Patti Boyd. Perhaps you would consider a reaction to these songs as a set.
She was pretty, yes, but you wonder what she had that inspired all these great songs.
Instablaster...
Great Gig in The Sky for vocal performance without lyrics!!!!!!
Eric Clapton Wonderful Tonight is like the morning sun shine after a dark night
Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky" will BLOW you away! Guaranteed!
He wrote this song for his then wife Pattie Boyd.
He wrote Layla for her as well when she was George Harrison's wife.
He did a version of Layla when he was with Derek a& The Dominos and another version as a solo. I suggest the audio version for Derek & The Dominos and MTV unplugged for his solo version.
This was my wife and I’s first dance song at our wedding 13 years ago. Amazing song
I also love dancing to this song with my wife of 30 years.
This is my wife's and my first dance song at our wedding 43 years ago. We love Eric's music a lot and never get tired of it. We been to his concerts and enjoyed every one of them.
One word describes Clapton, LEGEND!
She's such a gorgeous lady with such a wonderful voice like an angel
some songs of his with a different (good) sound that what you have heard
Eric Clapton - I Shot The Sheriff
Eric Clapton - Layla
Eric Clapton - Cocaine
the Core!
While Clapton recorded those 3 songs he only wrote 1 of them. I shot the Sheriff is a Bob Marley song and Cocaine was written by JJ Cale who Eric was a great friend of and after his death he got together a tribute album with lots of other performers who were influenced by JJ Cale.
Old Love
That is a world class drummer playing that night with Clapton. Steve Gadd. Amazing drummer. Your reaction is spot on man.
You can't go wrong with Clapton, so many great songs, so many styles.
As some have mentioned, Eric wrote this song for his (then) wife Patti Boyd. Patti's first husband was Beatle George Harrison. After George and Eric became friends, Eric developed a crush on Patti which grew into infatuation, then love. Eric wrote Layla, Bell Bottom Blues, and this song for her. When married to George, she inspired him to write Something, I Need You, If I Needed Someone, For You Blue, and Isn't It a Pity (there might be others from both that I'm not recalling at the moment). Eric even told George he was in love with Patti upon which George made Patti decide between them. She chose George but they ended up getting divorced anyway. George and Eric remained friends for the rest of George's life and when Eric did marry Patti, George attended the wedding and used to call Eric his "husband in law". Unfortunately, Eric and Patti would divorce also due to his alcoholism and cheating.
Another vote for the studio version of Layla. Totally different style to this one and a rock classic if there ever was one.
The Legendary Steve Gadd on the drums
My wife listens to this song every day.
I hope you sweep her up and sway with her when she does. ❤❤❤
Where have all the beautiful love songs gone? I've always loved this song. Simple, but touchingly beautiful.
Cream - with Jack Bruce on bass and the amazing but very volatile Ginger Baker on drums were better than anything else at the time so much so that their music still feels fresh 50+ years later.
Clapton can do it all. Mellow, jamming blues, anything. He's in my top ten.
At every dance I went to growing up this song was one of the first slow songs that was played. It was a great time to hold your date tight. Wow what great memories. Thanks 😎
Thanks for closing out my day with one of my favorite things, Eric Clapton playing anything on his guitar.
The sound at the end of the woman harmonizing reminds me of "The Great Gig in the Sky" by Pink Floyd... a must-hear if you haven't already!
Love this channel!!!
Good call! Very similar style of singing.
I didn't realize Gadd was on this one, when I typed that last comment..My favorite drummer of all time.
The master of the stratocaster!
In his early days he was the best rock guitar player on earth with songs with the band Cream ,Blind Faith, And Derrick And The Dominos.
I have heard this song for years, this version has to be the best!! Loved it.
Another beautiful love song is by Lifehouse -You and Me
That was Katie Kassoon my friend, showing the world what a guitar was built to emulate...on top of Clapton who is fantastic.
I've never seen this version before - now downloaded to my phone, so thank you. I have a ticket to see him at the Royal Albert Hall in May, so looking forward to it.
I've had the pleasure of seeing him on his "21 nights at the Royal Albert Hall" on all three sessions
@@johnnosiennek7066 Ah, John, in the five months that have passed since my original comment, the concerts were postponed to 2022. And due to scheduling conflicts, the number of concerts was reduced from four to two. The other two were just cancelled, not postponed or rescheduled. And guess what, mine was one of the cancelled ones.
I'm slightly miffed with Mr C at the moment as I feel that with over a year to go there must have been something they could have done to find an alternative venue. I'm left with an RAH voucher and no Layla - it's got me on my knees, frankly.
Always choose the live version when listening to Eric. Every solo improvised and different, feeding off the vibe from the crowd….
Damnit. I've heard this song before, but right now in my life it just broke me. Don't know who these tears are for, but thank you for bringing them to me
I probably said it before but Eric Clapton had a long long career starting in the 60s with cream heavy metal psychedelic type music and he went on and on and on and never stopped
This gotta be the best version i've heard of this song so soulful and it keeps building up!!
If you ever take the time to really watch Eric play. He doesn’t just play the music, he feels the music! It just pours out of him!
The definition of a class act!
That lady has voice, wow..........wow
Was Clapton on stage, I got distracted
If you liked the woman in this you should give a listen to Pink Floyd, Great gig in the sky. One woman, no lyrics.
YES!! Great Gig--please!!!!
My thoughts exactly
I saw Floyd live and there are actually 3 women, not 1!
Those people pause the videos is so they don't get blocked. Another great song Eric sings is River Of Tears. Great song!
Steve Gadd on drums and Nathan East on bass makes it like surfin'.
Kathleen Kissoon is het name and that was just gorgeous and of course Eric Clapton never lets us down.
Most of his music is not this mellow, he's really a blues man at heart. Try almost anything from the "Layla and other assorted love songs" album.
"Layla" is pretty "mellow" too. Most types of blues are not exactly the most harsh type of music either.
Please watch OLD LOVE from this same concert. It will stay with you for life.
As a drummer, you’ll appreciate Steve Gadd on the song too.
Guys take note. This is what every woman wants to hear from her man. ❤❤❤
You got that right we had musicians back then only concern was making music for everyone to have fun N not depression or crying in their beer
Bell bottom blues is a great song by Eric Clapton and Duane Allman. They're group was Derek and the Dominos
You need to find his Crossroads Guitar Festival videos, each one is hours of the best blues, all the biggest names, amazing stuff
Half a century... G.O.A.T
You should check out "Badge", "Blues Power", "Bell bottom blues" & a tribute to Freddie King "Key to the Highway". You won't be disappointed.
One of the best love songs that has ever recorded. He has such a beautiful, every man voice it touches your heart.
Eric writes these songs with his guitar and so his voice fits perfectly with melody!
For me who is an older man from Norway, this is music. 😀
You can also listen to : "terrin us apart" with Phil Collins on drums, the live version. It's hard to sit still, listening to that number.
Love this song, my wife and I would never miss a chance to dance to it, usually played at closing time at our local clubs. 1st dance 32yrs ago. PEACE AND LOVE EVERYONE! !! HIPPIE JOE
You want to react to Clapton ? React to Blind Faith , CREAM , Yardbirds , Derek and the dominos , john mayhal and the blues breakers featuring Clapton . And that's just to name a few of his past bands he was in .
the Slow Hand at his finest! saw him live a couple times and once even sat in a parking lot sold out couldn't get tickets when i was a kid!
still was awesome, also once saw him and Bonnie Raitt and that was magical......
If you wanna see a real great live performance by him, check out a 2015 show at Royal Albert Hall, England. "I Shot The Sheriff"..A Bob Marley song that Clapton had a huge hit with back in '74...I know you like drums. Steve Gadd is on skins in this version..Outstanding, can't miss performance!
You should listen to John May all and the bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton
Listen to the album Slow Hand. Also watch the live video for “Layla”. You’ll love it. Oh, his nickname is slow hand because when he plays he’s playing so fast it looks like his hand is moving slowly
The only human inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame 3 separate times.
I know I've said it before but I love your reactions you're honest you're you're honest.
You should watch his MTV Unplugged concert, there are a lot of great tracks. I have this concert on VHS and the audio on CD and have enjoyed it for years. If you get the chance, react to "Layla" or "Nobody Knows You When Your Down and Out", or just about any track from the concert.
You hit the nail on the head dude
EC,Nathan East and Katie Kissoon what can go wrong ?....Pure Gold
Goosebumps!✌❤
YES!
In my humble opinion Pink Floyd's great gig in the sky is the best non vocal female track. You always get surprised every time you listen.
A song about a couple going to a party he gets a headache, they go home and she puts him to bed and it’s soooo beautiful. Like he thinks she is
Clapton is God
👍👍
How can you Not like that!?
David Kersh Had a version of Wonderful Tonight
And its Awesome
I have always felt like he's 1000 times better live than in the studio, fo future reference listen to the 24 Nights version of this one, by the way Babyface does a version of it too
Clapton almost always plays this in shows...
Beautiful song and done beautifully. If you want to hear a beautiful, pure, honest voice with no frills, gimmicks or tricks then listen to Eva Cassidy. Anything by her is fantastic especially her live version of Over the Rainbow. Just her and her guitar recorded live at Blues Alley while suffering from a cold. Better than most healthy people recording in a studio. Give it a listen and you won't be disappointed.
Enjoy following you...give "Old Love" live version of this same concert..
Not seen this performance before that was magical, loved it!
There is a version of Layla done from the same performance. I think it was at the Staples center.
Do Layla by Derek and the dominoes . Duane Allman plays slide and backup guitar. One of the greatest songs ever written
A later live version that is as good as the original, rare.
Another great example of a female back-up singer doing some amazing vocals without words is, of course, the vocalist in Floyd’s Spirit in the Sky. I think you’ve reacted to that.....
Layla from this same concert....EPIC....will blow you away
I just found your channel and I'm loving your reactions!!! New sub for sure!!!!! Oh and THANK YOU for not pausing during the song!!! That is so annoying!!!
great pick dear 👍.. please do check out his "Change the World" live
if you liked Katie Kissoon on this, listen to PINK FLOYD's 'Great Gig in the Sky', those are some vocals without lyrics, Clare Torry will knock your socks off.
The Core.
You will not be disappointed if you react to Joe satriani surfing with the aliens. Or living in a blue dream. Both live performances. the drummer is also great
You gotta react to Cream, when Clapton was a young talented guitarist, the original superband 👍🏼. Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page were all guitarists in the yardbirds at different times, that one band helped launch the career of three epic guitarists ❤️ This live performance from 1968 was epic, no copyright issues👍🏼 : czcams.com/video/jnJn8XbPeKc/video.html
☮️💙💙💙
If you want great singing with no lyrics, react to Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky". It's awwweeeesooome!
Listen to: Modern English I melt with you. The Ramones Glad to see you go. Squeeze Cool for cats. Romeo Void Never say never.
☮️💜
Big old deep rabbit hole here, with Eric! I'll give you some great Clapton tunes that are not on everyone's radar........"Motherless Children" "Mainline Florida" "Promises" So much material! I like it all, even the stuff the critics ripped. From the John Mayall & The Bluesbreaker days, through Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and The Dominos, and his solo stuff. Try some of the later live stuff from his "Crossroads" festivals. All kinds of great guitar players at those festivals! Tons of stuff on You Tube from those wonderful festivals! Try this with his former Blind Faith band mate, Steve Winwood, "Can't Find My Way Home" If you don't know Mr. Winwood, you certainly should! czcams.com/video/8L82II1lNjo/video.html
Please listen to Boz Scaggs LOVE, Look What You've Done To Me live. Listen to the singer's at the end.
Really like that shirt. Have you tried Layla
The legendary Nathan East on bass... great song. Clapton was at his absolute peak in Cream - czcams.com/video/7HfkSzsyh1E/video.html
If you do more rod Stewart his best songs are the first cut is the deepest and tonight's the night
