Good music is always good unlike modern shite nobody is going to want to listen to miley cyrus wrecking ball in 50 years but i have a feeling this will still be doing the rounds
@@RK-zf1jm You're right, good music is always good. That said, there's always been shite as well. Don't write off "modern" music just because some of the stuff that gets airplay is atrocious.
My husband and I met on line. He was 61, I was 50. He was never married, I suffered a lifetime of abuse. We got married on a Wednesday night in a coffee shop with friends and family. The local news anchor and friend of mine sang this song for our wedding song. It just kinda happened. I never would have thought of this as a wedding song but it fit perfectly. We're still so much in love 7 years later. 💗
India, I have to say, you have a beautiful soul. I can see it in your eyes when you listen to songs like this. And yes, you look wonderful tonight too.
Cherish the good moments you share. You will bring honor to him by remembering him, and thinking of him often. Believe me, it works. Condolences. I extend an old man's brotherly hug to you.
@@Mutatedordinary Dear Stupid: Eric Clapton never claimed to be the "best singer," ever. He was a GUITARIST, first and foremost. It was I who called him a 'great singer,' and your moronic comments aside, he was a triple threat because of it. And what about you?? What musical gifts do YOU possess? Name me just ONE. I'll be anxiously awaiting your equally moronic reply.
What is so moronic about stating one of my opinions online? It’s not like I am trying to convince others, and I was not addressing you in the first place.
As a certified old fart it is a joy to see the emotions in your face when you listen to music that is part of my soul. Thank you for exploring musically. You help to keep music alive by allowing yourself to experience it and for others to experience it vicariously through the wonderful emotions shown on your face. I have now subscribed to your channel. As a side note; as others have pointed out this song was written about Patti Harrison who Eric did marry for a time. But it's not the only song he wrote about her. The great rock and roll song by an ensemble group of musicians, Layla, was about Patti also. While this song is soft and tender, the first part of Layla is pure rock, fast and heavy guitar licks and loud lyrics, then the wonderful second half piano instrumental. For a completely different mood you might listen to River Of Tears. It's a very special song of his for me. I was heavily involved with a girl who was dying of cancer when I first heard it. Beautiful, sad, it still evokes tears. Keep up the great videos. Thank you again for making them.
Patty Boyd Harrison Clapton is the muse behind the following songs (at least) Something (Beatles) Layla (Derek and the Dominos (Eric Clapton)) Wonderful Tonight (Eric Clapton)
I love you! Watching your reactions to these songs from my youth makes me love them all over again, but watching you listen to them for the first time makes me tear up for some reason. Intense. You really know how to soak up a song and pass that along. Thanks for a little emotion on this sunny Saturday morning. I guess I needed it :)
Beautiful song! Like you mentioned, Yvonne Elliman was a backup singer on this Eric Clapton song. I recommend Yvonne's No. 1 song from 1978, "If I Can't Have You," from the "Saturday Night Fever" movie soundtrack ... or her beautiful ballad "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from 1971, the movie soundtrack to "Jesus Christ Superstar."

I never thought Clapton was God -- there is only one God. But Clapton knows truth,, beauty, and depth of feeling. With that and his nonpareil guitar playing -- what more can anyone possibly want? I can see in your face that you would love someone to say this to you.
ohhh man!! what a great reaction, hope you have someone in your world that makes you feel this way!!, love ya hun, you deserve someone capable of giving you the world!! be safe and take care!!
I was lucky enough to go see Clapton in concert a few years back in Cardiff and I swear I nearly balled my eyes out when he played this! He played it all with his eyes closed and made you really feel the song! And man this man can play the guitar! Great reaction :-) x
This song has a very strong presence in my life. Besides being the first song I learned by Mr. Clapton (and the first song I ever learned on the guitar period) I can relate to this little part of his story. Besides the overwhelming love for his wife, the part where he talks about her helping him to bed is supposedly a nod to his trouble with drugs. As someone who unashamedly sought help for problems with alcohol, this song still hits me like a truck (but in a good way) EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Written about Patti Boyd. Patti also had “Layla” and “ Something” (by The Beatles), written about her. Patti’s sister Jennifer had “Jennifer Juniper” written about her.
Watched a video you posted where you was talking about you being stuck and a little on your relationship and now this video so going to offer a man's opinion so when this awesome song came on and your heart didn't flutter and skip knowing that you as a amazing and beautiful woman that you are and this isn't describing how your man sees you without question then you have your answer......... Love is something you never should have to question and as a beautiful lady and a big heart you deserve love at it's finest! I was 21 when I married and spent 25 yrs in a relationship that was convenient but not "In love" now after 2yrs since she left (on vacation to Cali and stayed there with Internet boyfriend) I was able to realize over half my life was gone and hadn't felt that heart pumping, palm sweating, butterflies in my stomach emotions that brings the raw passion and feelings of "There's nothing I can't do with a woman who believes in me" empowerment that love brings so take a second by yourself and put this song on and REALLY see if who is laying next to you at night TRULY sees you as this man in song sees this woman or listen to "Lady in red"......... Every man "in love" should feel these ways and so should every woman for one another!! Just a older man's opinion with a lifetime of experience on loving the wrong one!!!
This is listed as one of the top 20 greatest love songs of all time. The song "Something" by the Beatles (George Harrison) is also on the list making Patti Boyd the only woman with two songs about her on it.

but can he dance ?
He's (or was) a great guitarist, but hardly a great singer or songwriter. This track in particular is pretty insipid.
I can agree that he was not the best singer.
