Barbed Wire tattoos are VERY common in the united states, it's kind of the generic "I want a tattoo but can't think of anything meaningful" go-to for younger males. Based on Joji's career I would assume he got the barbed wire tattoo to be ironic/sarcastic.

I wanted to reply to the Medical Cannabis tattoo that looks like a pulse monitor on the wrist. I believe this is actually do to his medical condition which he causes seizures. In the US Hemp with CBD is fully legal in all 50 states and Marijuana is in a weird grey legal area, but legal in some states such as New York. Canabis is used to treat epilepsy and there are photos of Joji using Cannabis (Hemp and Marijuana are given different legal status depending on the percentage of THC), and most likely this is a medicine for him that prevents seizures hence tying the medical symbolism to cannabis. It also may explain why he choses to stay in the US and live in a state with medical marijuana
Also that Japanese take on the barb wire explains a lot as Joji had to overcome his medical condition to become the musician he is today.
I've seen that guy's videos on and off. When I was a kid back in the pre internet era USA, we had shock jocks. These were radio announcers/DJ's/talk show hosts, that had very edgy and borderline obscene. They always pushed the boundaries to see what the FCC would let them get away with. Think Howard Stern. To me Filthy Frank is the CZcamsr version of the American shock jocks in the 1980s/90s.

The cartoony face tattoo, as I assume, is taken from his EP "Lost Ballads", meant to kinda represent him (or accurately him in his BALLADS 1 era). And I think he had that tattoo after the EP, that's just my observation

Hey Asagi san. You know, I went back to watch your Filthy Frank vids. The one you shot speaking Nihongo amazes. When you speak Japanese, you become Japanese. Your face changes even.
When you speak English, you become American. You become more relaxed as you are in this video.
When you speak Japanese as many Japanese do, you speak through your teeth. Yet, when you speak English (the American kind), you speak through an open mouth. That makes sense since you try to make the English vowel sounds, likely unconsciously.

Asagi, think Joji might be Christian or religious in some way. Pretty sure I remember him saying he is half Australian, where the Catholic and Christian church is more common there than Japan.
My opinion is that he is a Kabbalistic Jew, and that he is speaking "Masterfully" via his tatoos. Superficially, they appear to be Christian, or just interesting / cool art, or tp express his affinity for Japanese, etc., but they all seem to have a deeper / secondary - esoteric, if you will - meaning, that would seem to reveal his true, but hidden, identity.

@Fucking grass Well if you're in Japan, a majority of society looks down on tattoos regardless what the content is, so it's generally not advised to get any tattoo in a visible spot. If you're in the west no one is going to be able to read it so it doesnt matter.

If you get a tattoo it's normally something you don't plan on getting removed. There's nothing wrong with using kanji, or any other language, for a tattoo. I don't know what your point is.
Don’t get a tattoo with the expectation of removing it later. Laser treatments leave permanent scars on your skin.
