His music videos are a contemporary story of his views on fame and how it's affecting him and others around him. There's a deep meaning underneath his madness in a genius way.
I'm so enraptured in theorizing about this video... Here's where I'm at!
First half is his life flashing before his eyes, and seeing how bloody it gets... Well, he seemed to be a brilliant scientist working for the military, to either research a very dangerous rocket fuel, or some alien substance. He keeps getting angrier with everyone, so he's bargaining stuff, keeping secrets, which leads to a violent end.
The high budget movie part seems to be entirely allegorical, he's taking his secrets with him alone, either to the afterlife on into a coma. The other music videos get more and more fantastical, so...
Brilliant video in my opinion.
You should see Daylight, Run, Sanctuary and Your man, they are all connected in the story from what I've seen, I'll let you try to find the order of it.

If you’re interested this is how I’ve understood his recent music videos. I believe there is an overarching story to all his videos for his album Nectar, they haven’t been released in chronological order but Sanctuary, Run, Gimme Love, Daylight, and Your Man have been sharing bits to it with Gimme Love being the most prominent. He has also released (non) songs that add to the story like FTC & Pretty Boy (which pretty boy actually became a full song for the album) but I do hope he adds more to it because there’s a lot to break down and figure out, at least that’s how it’s been for me haha but I just wanted to share how I’ve interpreted his videos so far
He just released his newest Album Nectar, it's really good and so are his Single releases: Daylight, Gimme Love, Run, Sanctuary.
Gimme Love's story is connected with Daylight, run, sanctuary and Your man, probably some more.

Hey nice to see you, you are lovely and have good voice and reaction. Basically I think of the story in this video as a man works his life away and gets to join some military services to work on a cure to this disease, he cures it but maybe there is another threat like a meteor that he will engage to save everyone once more and the guy was telling him not to go and the lady was crying at his sacrifice. Though you can say this would be like formal goodbye to his old self. Eject means go back to how things were and engage would mean keep doing what he loves and be afk he wants to be. It's good to think about meaning like this, because the song to me is more like give him love and remember him for how he wants to be remembered. He fought to get into music and move in from that part of his life and all he wants is the love and support. Again it's all just a idea but I mostly just wanted to tell you I think you are a great person and I appreciate your videos.

Thank you for making this video! I’ve been watching a lot of Filthy Frank/Joji reaction videos lately trying to get perspective on him as an intercultural performer from the other side, so I really appreciate it. It seems to me this music video presents a story about the development of some kind of experimental rocket ship, the rocket I think being a metaphor for Joji’s music career. I think the thing you’re missing is that the project gets cancelled because the rocket has been deemed unsafe.
The Filthy Frank project was originally supposed to be a short publicity stunt to launch his music career. His early work especially looks like a low budget ripoff of the reality tv prank shows that we’re popular at the time with a sense of humor shaped by Japanese variety shows from the nineties. Filthy Frank seems to me like if “Hen na Ojisan” was an American internet troll. Joji has described the character in interviews as “a parody of everything horrible on the internet.”
It seems like he got stuck in that role because he became a huge hit with the kind of “ironic” racists he was trying to make fun of. I think that’s important to understanding his video about weeaboos. He was being held hostage by an audience that demanded outrageous content that would offend “everyone” as long as “everyone” didn’t include them. Most of the Japanese commentators miss a certain flexibility in the word “weeaboo.” It means “anime fan” but you (the speaker) don’t like it. That means nobody who watches anime (e.g. most of the English-speaking internet) can be confident he’s not talking about them. He throws them off becoming a pitchfork mob by talking about “only if they’re disrespecting the culture” but isn’t that just as subjective?
On the production side, it’s clear that there were casualties to the Filthy Frank project. He did all of it in college with his friends, and there’s no evidence that there was ever anything you would call a budget. He fed a friend rat soup and ate a hair cake. Watch a Filthy Frank in Japan compilation (pls react, actually) and tell me nothing bad ever happened to them off camera. In the end he had to quit because his doctor told him to. It was literally killing him. I don’t know how it is in the Japanese music industry, but at the bottom of the American music industry people cling together, hoping that if one of them gets signed they’ll bring the others in. People go to extremes for just the chance of maybe one of us gets famous, and there can be some very hurt feeling and broken relationships in the process. Suddenly pulling the plug can’t have been less controversial behind the camera than in front of it.
So for his first (one of his first? I don’t know) video he shows us the story of a narcissistic genius acting like a huge government project to build a rocket to the stars is his personal show without caring about the massive risk and cost to himself and everyone around him to the point of cheerfully flipping the bird to the friends and loved ones who run into the path of the literal fire trying to save him when he climbs into “his” cancelled rocket. If you know about rockets, those other astronauts burned to death. Then he pushes the button and we’re left hanging. Production on the video would have been done or mostly done before the record was released. We don’t know if he succeeded or died because he didn’t.
The song is about chasing the love of the crowds and losing the love of the people around you, so maybe the video is too. Maybe that comes from his personal experience. He will tell you the song is a “character.” Like most Japanese celebrities, he keeps his personal life private, so I couldn’t tell you.
