- The circus of Dr Lao is a metaphor for Life.
We find therein what we look for...and what we believe is there...
"To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower...,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour."
- William Blake

This movie had a message.
Brings back beautiful memories as a young boy watching this and mystified by Dr Lao and how he charmed a little boy into truly believing in himself.
Same here. My mother would sit us down to watch whenever this movie came on, it never gets old.
brings back great memories, I love this film , thank you x
When I first saw this movie (which was yesterday and tody), the ending made me tear up a little.
it had the same effect on myself when I was a younger man no i basically have some decent memories which makes me compassionate as a person in other words I'm not coldblooded.
"Every time you pick up a handful of dust, and you see not the dust, but a mystery, a marvel there in your hand..." That line reminds me of the plastic bag in American Beauty because he had a similar experience. He saw not the bag, but a mystery, a marvel there in the wind.
Today I finally managed 30 catches with 5 balls and I thought of this scene. :) Thanks for posting.
This made me smile a bit
This Kid done his Vision Quest!
I wish they would have made the sequel to this movie like George Pal wanted to .
@BigAssTuba Yes, is realy her.
porfavor quiero ver completa la películas , e mi favorita desde niña me trae muchos recuerdos gracias
@BigAssTuba yes that's Barbara! :)
AT LEAST THATS WHAT I THOUGHT!!! ARRRR
Is that Barbara Eden at 0:35 ?
BigAssTuba 0:35? What the heck is that mean
George Pal wanted to do a sequel? How would they have followed this?
I was thinking of doing it up for modern day audiences, with some allegorical characters from our modern times and having Dr. Lao slap some sense into them.
Because for real I think all people need these days to get the message is something truly fantastical.
[iminent=6bAe2EFIjR3] THANK YOU FINALLY! A REAL ONE!
They should make New movie
garcia adrian, unfortunately I don’t think they ever will, because Dr. Lao’s portrayal would be considered highly racist today, though I don’t think it was ever intended that way. Sometimes people overthink these things too much. No matter, because the modern movie studios won’t touch the story, as beautiful as it is. It’s just as well, because even though there have been many great movie directors to appear over the years, I doubt any of them could fill the shoes of George Pal. He was like Walt Disney.
Call Tim Burton! He can get Johnny Depp to play Dr. Lao!
Terry Gilliam should do this movie. Or Tim Burton also, as a backup.
No, this is one'a those movies, like Forbidden Planet and Casablanca, that could never be remade better!
