  • ** UPDATE ** RAPT Pill Integration is now available in Brewfather, check out my updated instructions here: • How use the RAPT Pill ...
    This video may still be useful if you want to see how to set up something with Webhooks.
    Here's how to setup the Rapt Pill with your Brewfather App. Rapt Pill support will be available soon on Brewfather, but for now, here's a workaround.
    --------------------
    Buy some merch! - party-time-brewing-2.creator-...
    --------------------
    Slightly More Detailed Instructions
    1. Log in to the Brewfather App
    2. Click on Settings
    3. Enable Custom Stream
    4. Copy the URL that is generated for the custom stream (log.brewfather.net/stream?id=...)
    5. Open up your Rapt Cloud app (app.rapt.io)
    6. Click on your Username then Web Hooks
    7. Click 'Create new Web Hook'
    8. Fill in the name you want to use for the Web hook (Brewfather) *** Make sure one word for name, no spaces! (Thanks Navin Bhat)
    9. Paste in the URL you copied from Brewfather
    10. Change Method to Post
    11. Click on the Payload label
    11. Paste this into the payload box:
    {
    "name": "ThePill",
    "gravity": @gravity,
    "temp": @temperature,
    "battery": @battery
    }
    12. Click on Devices label
    13. Click on the Rapt Pill you want to send info from
    14. Click Save
    15. Wait an hour or so then attach the device in Brewfather to your fermentation
    16. Wait another hour or so then see your numbers.
    Seems tricky when you write out the steps, but it is really easy to do if you just follow the video. Hopefully Brewfather will add the Rapt device soon, but for now, this works quite well. I'll possibly do another video when they finally add the Rapt Service.

    OMG, thanks for your video. Even though for PILL you no longer need to do a custom webhook I missed clicking on the X next to the device in RAPT portal to turn it into a tick! I thought that would delete the device from the webhook! thanks again!

    Thanks. I'm guessing that this technique will also probably work with brewpiless given they both use similar post methods.

    • @PartyTimeBrewing
      @PartyTimeBrewing  Před 2 lety

      As long as it has webhooks or something like that, you should be good to go (although I'm no programmer...). When you go into settings in brewfather and enable the stream, look at the link for the documentation and you will just have to make sure the variables have the same names that Brewfather is looking for. I messed up a few attempts because Brewfather's temperature variable name is "temp" and the Rapt's variable name for that is "@temperature". Good luck!

      @adamb7744 Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah it's very similar. Only issue is I have to expose part of my network

      I may grab another one soon and I'll let you know. I think it should work as long as you give them different names. When I was testing it, I changed the name once and two different pills showed up in Brewfather, so it will probably work but not 100% sure yet. Cheers!

      I set this up today with two pills, you just setup one webhook for each pill. When I setup the webhook I gave each different name in the Payload tab and selected the appropriate pill in the devices tab. Then they both showed up in brewfather.

    Given that you have an iSpindel and a Rapt Pill, which one do you prefer?

    • @PartyTimeBrewing
      @PartyTimeBrewing  Před 2 lety +1

      The Rapt is on sale for $80 here now, so at that price I'd go with it. The plans for a few more connected items to Rapt seem interesting. At the regular price, I may go with an iSpindel, especially if you can solder as they seem like a fun project to assemble and cheaper if you just get the parts. Cheers!

    Excellent tutorial !! Thanks ! Though I keep getting a BadRequest error in the RAPT cloud logs on the webhook. Any idea why ?

    • @PartyTimeBrewing
      @PartyTimeBrewing  Před 2 lety +1

      I was getting one for a bit and it was because a variable was named wrong. Look at the Payload tab in the Rapt app and make sure it looks just like the one in the video description. If that doesn't work, send me a print screen of the 'payload' tab when you click the edit button on your webhook page in the rapt app and I can look at it to see if anything is funny. partytimebrews@gmail.com. Cheers!

    • @bhatnavin
      @bhatnavin Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks James ! So, the variables names were all correct. However, I discovered that the custom stream does not like a space in the name. I had set mine to “RAPT pill”. Changing this to “RAPTPill” did the job. Who knew…LOL. Maybe you did huh ! ;-)

    • @PartyTimeBrewing
      @PartyTimeBrewing  Před 2 lety

      @@bhatnavin Awesome! My mistake was that I set the temperature variable to @temp instead of @temperature. Took a while for me to figure that one out. Cheers!
