  • Kegland created the RAPT range of brewing devices that can monitor and control a brew. I bought two RAPT Pills and two RAPT Temperature Controllers. I tried them as individual units, then combining the Pill and Temperature Controller to have a fully monitored and controlled setup. How did it go? Was it a waste of money or a gift sent from heaven?

Hopefully they will come to the US soon. It is taking a while, but KegLand are getting to more and more countries. You could try AliExpress as you can buy direct from KegLand through them. I bought my replacement coloured lids, spare base and gaskets from AliExpress and the KegLand store.

Hi we recently discussed using the temperature controller to control the mash in a biab system. With a full pot of water set to 65c for one hour. I have used this temp controller recently and an alarm rang and I noticed a bell logo come up too as well as a warning from my rapt app that the controller was going over temperature. Do you think there is a problem with my controller or is it not effective for controlling the temperature of the mash at 65c? Any thoughts? Cheers

To be honest I don't know. Every temperature sensor has a minimum and maximum. I would be very surprised if KegLand used a temperature sensor that can't go over 65C. It might be a good idea to drop them an email to see if this is expected behaviour.

So if I use this on a heat element that I want to stay constantly hot not to switch on and off when it reaches the temperature but just holds it at a particular temperature with constant power would this device do that

      Hi @tedbullpit6164,
Sadly no, this will not do that. It will send electricity to the heat socket when the temperature is low, but it will turn off the power once it reaches temperature. You could set the heat differential to 0.1C so that it doesn't switch of off for too long, but it will still turn it off for a few seconds to a few hours. The time it will be turned off for depends on many factors.
