  • Today we explore the use of oscillator synthesis software (Genesys) for practical crystal oscillator design, and the impact of the Randall-Hock correction formula on linear open loop analysis accuracy. References and additional reading: www.analogzoo.com/2016/03/osci...

    I have a suggestion for you :D
    What about design and build 10 MHZ(or any frequency actually you choose) by one of the following methods
    1-Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillators OCXO
    2-Temperature compensated crystal oscillator TCXO
    3-Microcomputer compensated crystal oscillator MCXO (since you are analog guy you will not like this one :D)
    I think it would be very nice and very educational also to build one of them(or may be all of them :D)
    Hope you have time for this in your daily activities

      +Muhammad Nour Elmogy I've been considering doing a video on OCXO design for some time, it's just that I don't have a pressing need for one at the moment so I keep getting distracted by other projects! I actually posted a video on designing a simple TCXO recently: czcams.com/video/ZdlSHtGH8EI/video.html

    Did you use cmos inverter in real design? Please send the picture of its?

    can we design 27.5MHz sine wave oscillator using crystal? is there any other method?

    • @Analogzoo
      @Analogzoo  Před 7 lety

      Of course you can, provided you can find a 27.5MHz crystal (these do not appear to be readily available, but you could have some custom made if you really needed to). Bear in mind that most common oscillator topologies generate a distorted sine wave, so depending on how sinusoidal you need it to be, you may need to add some filtering to remove excess harmonic content.

      thanks . Can you suggest any other way of designing the same? will LC oscillators work for such a high frequency?

    I'm using ADS (advanced design system), is it good to mage an RF oscillator or I have to use another software?
    thx for sharing

      +Braneci Wael I'm sure you can do oscillator design in ADS, but I've never used it myself. A quick google search for "ADS oscillator design" turned up several tutorials and videos that seem very helpful though!
