- Are they Fooled? Penn&Teller: Fool US is currently the most popular magic show on television. But before there was Fool Us, there was The Wizard Wars! Here's a never before seen behind the scenes story involving Chris Ramsay, Penn&Teller and myself (Spidey).
Special thanks to Vincent C, the creative beast who helped us with these sets! Check him out!

OMG! Guys! I had to upload this about 78739487659812 times because it kept getting copyright issues! BUT ITS FINALLY UPPPP!!!!! HOORAAAAYYYY!!!!!
This is so worth the wait!
SpideyHypnosis dude I bought the episode a couple months ago and it was amazing keep it up
You guys, KILLED THEM ! :)) Love it. ALWAYS !
So sorry it was such a bitch trying to get this all together but I'm so glad you took the time for us. I did see that episode of Penn and teller you are such an amazing Entertainer that no matter what the outcome of their decision it was well worth the watch. Also an enormous fan of wizard Wars I didn't get to see that episode so I'm thrilled that I just had the opportunity to see that awesome trick. With all that said thank you for piecing everything together for us and I agree with you 100% that when someone as gifted as teller gives you a standing ovation for the creation of an idea it's about as good as it gets. Very pleased that I found you. You have an instant follower.
LOL, I was wondering about that. I get the notification and hopped right on to get that copyright error, then tried different browsers, etc, to no avail. Who would have thought Spidey would be the first casualty of the EU copyright directive? ;) So is this a Jay Sankey 'how I actually fooled Penn and Teller' video? :p As for Wizard Wars I went ahead and bought the show on my XBox. Your performance was great and I love that show. I wished it were still around, especially now we have the CZcams culture, and the ins and outs of the show could be discussed more in depth. I'd love to see what's in that magic workshop. And wow, that screwdriver subtlety was truly brilliant, or what do they call it in the business? BOLD! So no this wasn't a discussion of Fool Us rather one on Wizard Wars so awesome! And just for an fyi I've tried finding this episode on CZcams and couldn't find it for free, but it's available through most services (I got it from the XBox marketplace) for like $0.99. It's totally worth it, and I recommend getting the entire season. The magic is awesome.
So how much time are you given to create your effects on the show? And what's in that wizard workshop? Is it totally stocked with cool stuff?
Baby beard Ramsay
dude... i love that look. The current savagery growing on your face scares me.
I miss his tutorials, spidey can't you ask him to start doing it again...plz
You look So Young 😍
Why don't you tell us about this Chris?!
You looked great though, I miss your tutorials :(
It's eerie how Teller doesn't look different at all. Maybe that's the real magic.
that's a real good point! Teller looks the same and to me the Penn I met on Wizard Wars and the Penn I met every time after that are pretty much two COMPLETELY different people
I bet you won't TellEr
Penn has said he really hates ventriloquists. I always find it funny that they essentially run an anti ventriloquist skit. Teller never talks and Penn answers everything with out the words coming out of Teller's mouth.
wtf lol what do you mean, he doesn't look different from 2018? 2 years ago? or from an earlier date? In a way Penn looks the same as he did way back when just a few more wrinkles -.-
that screwdriver bit was a legit prediction 😂 that truly was all or nothing 😂
Educated guess
nah dude. they had a saw placed somewhere else and a wrench in another spot. and those are the only possible 3 choices someone would pick.
@@valjohnson7112 I chose a wrench
@@bardos nice. then he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a little wrench. ez
I think it is based on the fact that Teller was asked to pick any tool. Given that Teller doesn't speak in his "magic state", the only was for him to communicate the tool of his choice would be showing it with his hands, which he did. And besides a hammer and a screwdriver there's not a lot of tools you can easily show, so that the person could easily guess them, especially when you have a couple of seconds to reply. There's already a very limited number of tools even if he asked a speaking person to pick one (if both people are not professional tool users), add there may be pliers, a saw and a wrench, but they are all a bit more complicated to describe without speaking. Imagine you show a sawing motion without a saw, the other person guessing would be like "oh, you're stirring something, oh wait, you're punching someone, or you're changing gear in a car", and so on for every other common tool but the hammer and a screwdriver. So it was very and very likely that non-speaking Teller would show a screwdriver. This is just my guess.
Oh boy! I was searching for that 9 months now, and I still did not find it where I could watch it. Thank you for sharing the story and the little bits shown to us. I love you and Chis, give me more of you into my veins!
I love your excitement, enthusiasm, and passion everytime i watch your videos.. It is your surge of will and energy that executes your ideas. I hope your mentalism shows continue to be successful and profitable.
Penn and Teller seemed to enjoy your mentalism act, even though Penn doesn’t like mentalism
Never heard of wizard wars, sounds exactly the sort of thing I'd love, thanks heaps for letting us know about it. Checking it out now
I remember Wizard Wars. I was disappointed when it went off the air, but Fool Us is a great show too. Thanks for sharing your performances.
@BroskyWhoDatedHoski I hope not, but I do know that Teller has had some medical issues this year and recently had a surgery. Hopefully the show continues.
Wizard wars is how is was introduced to you and Chris. Been following both of you since then. Great stuff!
You know it's magic when somebody hits Wyoming
Wyoming isnt real
Wtf is wyoming
@Bryan Black Theres no such thing as Wyoming are you making up shit?
I'm from Wyoming, born and raised. Does that mean I'm not real either?
would have been better if it was alabama
ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!! My Two fave magicians together on TV?!?!?! Pinch me! Why don't you two have your own show yet??????
I never realized Chris was on the show! Can't find this clip anywhere.
Fooled or not, brilliant performance and lovely reception from P&T. Thanks for sharing the story!
Ive been trying to find episodes of wizard wars since forever, thanks for this
czcams.com/video/25lCg7Bk-Jc/video.html
Just found your channel, but I remember Wizard Wars. Great insight.
You predicted that he would guess probably the second most common tool after you told him not to choose a hammer, and if he said something else you had an out in the way of a joke. Amazing. The first trick was cool though.
YES!!! Way to get a reaction that is not TV appropriate haha So great :D
Here from Instagram. I'm glad you got the video uploaded finally!
That's AWESOME! What a great story! Thankyou so much for sharing Spidey!
Hell yea Spidey! Keep on killing it; have loved watching each and every one of your television appearances!
thanks Brotha! Hope you're doing well! :D
I totally watched this episode in it's original airing. Loved that show and I can remember it well. Glad to hear more of the story.
You guys did great, awesome job!!
that ''out'' was SAVAGE as fuck.
brilliant out for sure!
Spidey you are so talented, stylish yet down to earth, I am thoroughly impressed with your simplicity.... I used to follow many channels for magic learning but now I watch only yours... I feel homely here...
I mean...i didn't see it, but when you played out the scenario, I said "screwdriver" too.
I imagine it's because you made the question sound general, but it was really personal.
Key being pulling a tool out of a box. You're saying "any tool", but we're thinking "pulling out a tool box". So it'd be a tool, that I think you or I could use.
What fits inside a tool box?
Hammer
Screwdriver
Nails
Screws
Tape Measure
Hammer could be and probably would be anyone's first guess, but Screwdriver would be just as likely.
So you eliminate the most obvious option, to give the illusion of greater difficulty, due to a broader pick range.
You broaden the range, but we already have 5 in our heads.
Hammer - eliminated
Screwdriver - second pick
Measure tape - supplementary tool
Nail - supplementary tool
Screw - supplementary tool
The choice is obvious, to us, and therefore obvious to you.
Did I get it?
Wrench?
Saw?
Great story. You guys are amazing and this shows it.
Wow! I remember that show. How long have I been watching you guys?!? By the way, you both are totally awesome! 👏👏👏👏
hmmm??
"How Many Tools Can A Guy Who Doesn't Talk Act Out?"
Well....let's see;
*Screwdriver(of course)*
*Hammer (was disqualified)*
*Saw*
*Wrench*
*Shovel\Pitchfork*
*Rake/Hoe*
*Ax/Sedge Hammer*
*Broom*
*Measuring Tape*
There are a few more, but these are the most common/obvious.
With the first 3 on the list, also being what could reasonably be expected to be the top 3 that any person would automatically think of and choose.
And of the top 3, the hammer and screwdriver are pretty much tied for the #1 spot, and by cleverly getting rid of the hammer as a choice, leaving just the hammer, and screwdriver. The latter of which, I would guess that the odds would be extremely high, in being the one chosen.
Still, even though it was the 'most likely' pick, you couldn't be sure with 100% certainty (especially with the likes of Penn & Teller). So going all in on it was still chancy....great job.
I think you are awesome I'm got into magic later stage in my life but hey I just love learning new tricks :) so thank you!!!!!!
Spider I actually thought screwdriver...lol 😆 vodka and Oj. Love you and Chris never cease to amaze...2 thumbs up sir
Awesome video !! Cool story thanks for sharing
Binge watching all ur videos man. Damn good 👌🔥
Love this story telling 💖
Very cool. Don’t have time to watch much TV so this is all new to me lol. Thanks for posting
I assumed Teller's standing O was just him being proud of you for taking a risk. If not P&T, I've seen more than one magician on CZcams and elsewhere encouraging magicians / mentalists to stop playing it safe all the time and to start taking risks.
Well done on impressing two world class magicians. With their downer on mentalism it’s got to be extra hard but I think your personality, and lack of ego, sells it.
He was probably impressed by your guts in going for the screw driver
i remember seeing this show but had no idea until now it was you and chris, funny i have been watching chris for a month or so, now im following you also, must have been a long term trick the two of you put on me.. ... love the channel .
I remember that episode when it aired. I really liked that series, really good stuff.
Great video Spidey! Love your video’s!!
One of the few episodes I saw happened to be yours :) loved it
I used to have all of them on dvr, but then I gave up dish and lost them all. I totally remember all the "aired" stuff. Cool to hear about the behind the scenes. Just so you know, you're probably my favorite mentalist, but honestly I don't know that many, lol. Just kidding, you're my favorite mentalist. Do your mind thing Spidey!!! #KEEPITCOMING
I couldn't recognize Ramsay at all. I've been subscribed to him for around a year or so and if you didn't say it was him I doubt I would've noticed.
Thats dope... Big ups!
One of the most inspiring magic shows ever
You clickbaitin sob. I should've recognized the thumbnail. Thanks for the behind the scenes. Love your work.
Haha I loved that episode. I'm so glad Penn and Teller now have their own show and can say whatever the hell they want lol.
Standing ovation for a win win
The out for the screwdriver was brilliant! Great work Spidey!
I wish wizard wars would come back. Maybe on Netflix or Amazon.
Very cool. You guys are both amazing.
I like how you explain the story.
That screwdriver thing was awesome!!
I loved wizard wars and watched all episodes. I have been following Penn and Teller for about 15 years now.
the best magician foolers are the tricks that don't work a 100% of the time taking that chance. took some balls.
The screwdriver prediction was just genius hahaha
I love that you had a plan b with your set… good idea to have a joke in case the illusion falls flat!
Perfect absolutely perfect duo
How long did you have to come up w/the routine & build what u needed? Great video!
Whoa!? That was awesome!
hahaha, to get hung up on a quick trick that coulda just been a throw away joke is gold
Now this is quality content
@SpideyHypnosis I love how you say "ALL MY MAGICAL FRIENDS" rather than, all my "Magic" or "Magician" friends. I want some "magical" friends. :)
Loved it! By the way, where can I find the episode? I am literally dying to watch it!!
Great story. Thanks Spidey
Hey Spidey! Congrats! Recently found out about your channel (thank you for the great quarantine content) and this came up as recommended! Saw Justin Willman a little bit before quarantine and he did a version of the map. Curious if you can comment if you guys worked together or how things like this work among magic professionals. Cheers!
Brian _ the map thing doesn’t belong to either of us. It was created and marketed by another magician. So anyone can buy it can perform it on stage 😊
@@SpideyHypnosis Too cool! Thanks so much for replying and keep being safe!
Spidey and Chris ramasey
My fav magic youtubers
The screwdriver thing(I'd consider it an out) was pure genius. I'm new to mentalism, I've watched Peter turner at the table and read practical mental effects, so, I'm pretty new, and I wanted to ask if i could use that? I'm not professional, I only perform for my family and people at school. Thank you for your time.
You are awesome Spidey. You don't have to oversell yourself. I think most people who have seen your act agree with me.
You and Ramsay are both boss
awsome video.. i wouldve been here sooner but we had a hurricane warning in gatineau :)
that was really smart to begin the tool setup with making "hammer" not a valid choice. I feel like most would then naturally choose screwdriver
I remember that episode!!!
Love the screwdriver bit, good work
little pen highlighter lol so funny love this video
Holy shit why have I never heard of Wizard Wars? :o I hope i can find it online
You are amazing Spidey, can I go to see performance you in Miami?
Talk about having tickets on yourself. I wish I could paint my own history so vividly.
On here watching because you asked so nice on Instagram
Funny, love the inside stories
hey didnt realise this before but Miami looks like the Gold Coast Australia only the other way round
Ha! Only episode not on CZcams. Guess I break out the Showbox.
David Urdahl I noticed that the CZcams ones were all up then everything after e10 vanished... I wonder what happened there
@@SpideyHypnosis nope I saw 11 and 12. Even more suspicious.
@@SpideyHypnosis I only found ya because I recently watched a video of Chris's where he says your name like 16 times. Lol well I assume that was the CZcams algorithm at work. So even if they deleted that wizard wars episode, ya got a new subscriber. So there's that.
David Urdahl YES! #win
I believe I know how you did the screwdriver bit. As Penn said, how many tools can you act out without words. First and most obviously, you made a hand motion of a hammer, to completely eleminate that option. The only other really obvious tool that can be mimicked by hands is the screwdriver. I'm too lazy to go back and check, but I can almost guarantee that you had put in some small subliminal messages throughout the act that would have also impacted him to say screwdriver. Regardless, it was truly a very great addition to the act, as of course, if worst comes to worst you have your default out.👌👌👏👏👏
This was good. Got me good
Were there other holes in the map? like from previous attempts?
Penn was a highlighter XD
Dubstep and card magic go very well together, like juicy steak with a fine wine 🥩 🍷
"Cut that. We're gonna cut that." But not. Classic.
saw your message on Instagram so weird to see ramsay with so little ink
Does anyone know how they did this??? Please explain!
That was literally the only episode I saw. Weird how I watch both of on CZcams now...
Which show please anyone tell I want to go and see all season episode please tell me
just purchased induction can't wait to learn how to hypnotize people
I love wizard wars 💗
treasure coin box trick was on AGT i think, football star performed it , i was going to purchase that prop but its way to expensive
the dude from the Eagles did this trick on AGT.
Someone has the link to the full video??
Wow! Tell all your friends, that you, told at least one new person, about that wizard Wars show, that I had no clue about, and nice work and nice video and all good things
Hmm... let me know if I've got this right, but here's my theory on the screwdriver trick!
Choosing Teller to do it was very intentional. As a person who does not speak as part of his act, the only way he could communicate what tool to choose is by miming it. That significantly reduces the amount of tools that can be chosen, and Spidey removed the other easy tool that can be mimed from the equation - the hammer.
The likelihood that Teller would choose a screwdriver was pretty significant. But just in case, Spidey had a joke as an out.
It's a clever one!
