- Ryan Hayashi and his son Johnny Hayashi perform their Father & Son Cups Act on Penn & Teller FOOL US. This episode aired on Friday April 2, 2021, Season 7, Episode 26: "Teller's Wonderland", overall series episode 103, on The CW Network.
This is Ryan Hayashi writing this description, by the way. I mean, this is my CZcams channel. I would like to thank the producers of the show for having us on to perform, and also for being kind enough to allow us, and all other Fool Us performers as far as I know, to post the video of our performance on my channel.
Penn & Teller are not only two giants in the world of entertainment and living legends in the world of magic, they are also two very kind gentlemen who are extremely supportive of all performers who come on their show, whether we fool them or not. Thank you, Penn & Teller.
To my son Johnny, I am proud of you. I have spent the last several years trying to teach you how to develop a strong mind, body, work ethic and confidence, and now I have the honor of seeing it all come together. You are growing up to be a fine young man. It was a wonderful experience to perform together with you on your first television appearance. I have the feeling that this will not be your last TV performance, and that great things are yet to come in your future.

The fact that Ryan chose to perform cups and balls to P&T just shows that fooling them ain't the real reason he's here. Giving his son exposure and experience is. Great father indeed. Huge respect to both Ryan and Johnny.
its so fun to watch and entertain
I just noticed the audience Is all on cameras lol almost didn't notice it till I paused it.
Yeah cause you can see every move really
P&T have said it before: The show isn’t really about fooling them. It’s about providing the world great entertainment.
Yeah, I would rather watch this amazing fun routine than be fooled by something more bland!
That guys voice sounds like he should be on a commercial or something lol
he's a public speaker. Does Business seminars and stuff
Anime villain
I don't think you wanted to fool them with cups and balls, you just wanted to show this amazing act! And you succeeded
Agreed, they were never going to fool Penn and Teller with the cups and balls.
A lot of tricks on the show are just filler. In these cases, there's no intention of fooling Pen And Teller. The show is first about entertainment, not fooling. And, even most of the time the duo claims to be fooled, they weren't.
@@jamesreed5678 Ah, yes! The floor is made up of floor
How is this guy a father of a kid that age. Looks like he’s 35 at oldest
@@jamesreed5678 So sometimes Penn and Teller lie about being fooled by a trick?
Lol then there's no point in making the show about fooling them for a trip to Vegas, if it's soley about Entertainment.
Worth watching just for the monologue.. "And I've forgotten I'm human"
Who cares if it’s cups and balls or any older trick whatsoever. It’s a great story and a trick done in a unique way through your super fun and entertaining monologue. A really really enjoyable act 👏
I read that in Hayashi's voice
i like the game grumps reference of your name and profile picture :)
@@tresconik haha same here
I can tell you're a Game Grumps and Shoocharu fan. Well done, sir.
but it didnt fool them... they do 4 handed cups and balls... its not something they couldnt follow
This guy Ryan always amaze me whenever he put on a show. In fact, his scripts are the best magic any magician ever created.
I only came to see Ryan's act. Of course, it's cups and balls, but it's also Ryan. That alone holds great entertainment value. It doesn't get dull with repetitive viewing.
In Jazz music, there are "standards" - a set of songs from up to 100 years ago which never go out of style. Every musician will encounter them, great musicians will bring a new interpretation or twist, and once in a blue moon you'll get an incredible musician who will take an old song that's been heard so many times, and bring it to a completely new level. That's what you did with cups and balls. So entertaining - wish you the very best of luck!
sounds interesting do you know of any I can check out ?
@@vilecorrupt A CZcams search for Jazz Standards will give you a good start. Typically songs written by Harold Arlen, Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter. Ella has the "songbook" albums which collect songs by single composers. Let me know in here if you're still stuck!
As someone who does magic and jazz trumpet as well, this is an amazing analogy, couldn’t have said it better!!
You couldn’t have said described it better
That was the most epic Father and Son monologue in existence!
It doubled the psychological DAMAGE
I'm not a magician, but I know some magicians, and usually, I can follow everything they do when they do cups & balls. With your four hands, I could not follow all the moves, even if I manage to guess correctly what you did and when. One of the greatest versions of cups & balls I've ever seen! Well done!
Absolutely, they were fascinating and Ryan is such an entertaining performer! I think it makes it even more impressive when you know how it's done but, the execution is so high quality that you can't catch them. I may have spotted something a couple of times but, not well enough to say for definite although it would've made sense logically.
Penn & Teller do a cups and balls routine with clear plastic cups, and even then, they do it so fast, I have to slow it down to see all the moves. It's a simple trick but done flawlessly, just like the Hayashi's.
That’s probably the best cup and balls routine ever done. I mean we’ve all seen how the illusion is done but your performance was just outstanding. Best ever.
I mean we all know I mean ya i mean we know we KNOOWWW we have seen i mean blkjhabsdf jkvaevfnz
...just had to fkn say it.
Yall are so annoying.
@@DracoDescent Bad day at the office huh? Cheer up bro, we've all been there.
@@gladtobeangry You miss the pioint.
But.. it doesnt matter. That is over half a year old.
Point is contrarians are annoying.
They lurk and are incapable of a straight forward compliment. Always backhanded.
Did you see "Gazzo" from the british season of Penn and Teller? hahahaaa
This was awesome! Less about fooling...more about an epic, well coordinated performance!
Wow. Taking a classic to a whole new level. As Penn mentioned, so well scripted. Great to see the father - son dynamic. Absolutely love this act.
This gave me similar vibes to your first Fool Us appearance!
Start slow and simple so as to lull us into a false sense of security and comfort, then turn it up to 11 with an EPIC ending of climatic proportions! Ossss!
Love this man lol. His schtick is just perfect
I love the patter. It is so original. A mix of Ancient Japan mixed in with 1960s California used car commercial. LOL A lot of fun and a beautifully clean performance.
To continue with your Star Wars reference, "Now there are two of them." "Always two there are. No more, no less." Excellent version of the cups and balls. Loved every second of it! :)
The levels of misdirection with Ryan are just phenomenal. There's the energetic dialog with whimsical charm. Strong and precise movements and much more, but the part I love with this style is those false sleigh of hand moves to trick people that are trying to keep up. And Johnny. Oh boy, what a talent. Absolute joy this act. Love it.
As a composer this is very inspiring indeed: excellent build-up, incredible mastery of the form and just an amazing counterpoint of text, gesture and surprise. Phenomenal job!
The overconfident attitude and the epic monologue are so entertaining that for once I didn't really care how it was done... I just enjoyed the show with a big smile on my face.
Absolutely fantastic
Beautiful father and son bond 🥹
...That is one Damn Good Dad...
What I'd give hahaha
Ey man, I know your Son loves you incomprehensibly..
How awesome of a connection and life..
I'm very picky with comedy. This is genius. Thank you!
Congratulations Ryan & Johnny. Nice addition to the psychological damage series
It takes a real magician to make the oldest trick in the book interesting, and you two have managed just that. It may have not been fooling for everyone, but it was entertaining, and that is more important. And I do not know anyone who can do magic trick more epic than Ryan :p
This guy is such a great entertainer!
My favourite magician on fool us. Love you Ryan . Love from India ❤️
Ryan Hayashi is just so incredibly entertaining.
Such a beautiful and elegant performance, great job Ryan and Johnny!!!!
you just know you are gonna have a great time when the magicians have exceptional style
Congratulations both, what an accomplishment at 16 yrs old for Johnny, very impressive stuff.
It might be cups and balls, yet the skill here still astounds!! It's enchanting magic for a very good reason!
Great Show Boys!
I could sit here and watch this act over and over. Ryan and Johnny are both VERY entertaining. It's like a double dose of awesome and I'm surprised there weren't any head explosions from it.
Ryan is awesome
I love that your illusions change to a faster and faster pace till the end. It's like you get clobbered over the head with astonishing little miracles. Great work!
Who else can't wait for Johnny to perform a solo act and fool them ❤
Such a beautiful act!
I am very proud of you !👏
Wonderful achievement 🏆💫✨
Ryan not only a world class Magician, but he’s a world class performer! He could make reading the phone book entertaining.
Psychological DAMAGE! 😆
That was awesome
You are such a dork and I loved it. I mean EPIC MAGICAL DORK!!!! Great show!
One of the oldest tricks in magic made to feel fresh and exciting! I was grinning like a little kid watching it. Well done to both father and son!
Omg Johnny is so cute🥰😍😍
What a wonderful act! Love the father son duo, tons of charisma!
Best sequel ever.
Amazing job 👏🙌👌
So nice to see the months of rehearsals and training come together in that awesome recorded act.
Your magic inspires such deep emotions within me (and not just psychological DAMAGE). I love this so much.
Teller was entertained the whole time. 👍
A wonderful duo act and fun take on a classic routine!
Man, it's such a great act. It's almost mesmerizing.
A great trick, but the Joy of the Father took the best of Ryan here. There was far more joy than epicness, unfortunately.
I still have printed in my mind the MOST EPIC MONOLOGUE IN HISTORY OF MAGIC!
Love you both!
Best cups and balls routine ever. Ever.
“I love you, son!” Hahaha! What an amazing performance! Entertaining and hilarious showmanship!🖖😀
This is such a great routine and so well executed. Even though I knew what to look for it was so fluid that I really couldn't keep up with the sleight of hand
That was still an awesome performance! It's great to see the father and son dynamic as well. You must be really proud Ryan!
That's the kind of performance you would expect from someone whose last name is Hayashi
?
Awesome Team Father and Son!!!!! Absolutely loved it!!!!!! Really a great job guys!!!!! 👏 👍
Absolutely insane! One of the most entertaining performances that I've ever seen! Much respect.
"Nothing! I'm testing you!" 😂
Ryan, kannst du bitte mein Vater sein?😂 Respekt für euch zwei, great Show.😊
Double the Hayashi double the psychological damage to my mind. Beautiful performance.
I wish my dad was this cool.
These guys are like an Energy drink gone Super saiyan
Lol!
Such an awesome performance!! 🔥🔥 Love it! ❤️
Oh my god that was so entertaining! They sound like a dubbed anime! I love it!
would love to see hayashi on americas got talent, his comedy and magic acts are so entertaining, how is this guy not mega famous is beyond me!
I remember thinking when I saw the cups, Man, they arent gonna fool them with that. And you didnt, but, it was an amazing routine with your son, Im so glad you guys found such a great thing to do together. I thought it was a great routine!
Awesome father and son performance. Very entertaining and well executed.
What a great Father and Son act.
This guy is fricking hilarious. If I were in Germany I'd be watching every show he gave.
It's not only the best cups and balls, it's the best routine to be on fool us.
Wow!! I used to love performing cups and balls! Amazing routine! Soo amazing!!
I wish I had a great father such as you growing up, your a legend
that was the most powerful and smooth cups and bulls trick Ive ever seen
Ryan is the best magician to ever been on this show
Always solid and mesmerizing. Magic at its best
The more Penn compliments someone’s act and presentation the more he figured out their act.
Ryan really must be a Jedi, he barely ages!
I don't watch TV thank you for sharing it with us.
I love the talent and performance
If Rock Lee and Might Guy existed in real life, this is DEFINITELY how they'd act, loved it haha
Wow! Beautiful!
Awesome routine !
That was so much fun to watch. Thank you for practicing together so much cause that was epic!
I JUST LOVED THIS!
Well done, Ryan! Please, always come back to the show!
That was just a beautiful act. The kids get skills and you guys really seemed like partners rather than teacher and student. That would be a fun act to see in person. Hopefully whenever the world returns to normal.
Great job. Eager to see the next performance
After so much practice, this finally paid off! This was amazing. Thank you!
You might not fool them but man I love your performance!! Your son is very talented too! You guys are *EPIC* !
Sixteen? That's the real magic here. He looks thirty-six.
So so great!
While I know a little of how this is done, its the first time I have seen a duo act, and it was a real joy to watch.
Well done to you both.
I will always remember his voice and dialogue, " and I am the Jackie chan of magic"
Just like the original, this was a SUPER FUN watch! Great job you two! What a performance!
so cool and so awesome -
Even on my first watch I had to go back a few times, not to try and figure it out, but just to see some of the effects. There was so much going on at the end I was pretty blown away. I can't imagine how much time went into coordinating and choreographing this routine. Your first act was one of my favorite performances on FU and this lived up to that. Amazing stuff.
Penn and teller are my all time favorite but this guy is the man! I would love to see him live.
